  • Is the soundtrack electronic/techno? I loved the first soundtrack, so much so that I bought it on CD.

  • will there be any downloadable content such as new tracks like there was for Wipeout Pure? i hope so, and i as well as the rest of us are willing to pay for such content. also, is there any way of obtaining the Omega Pack 1 & 2 for american Wipeout Pure gamers?

  • Awesome news :D
I can’t wait to get my hands on this game :)

You’d pay $35-$40 easy, but not me and a bunch of other people buddy. You’re more than welcome to pay Sony more if you like to! =) As for me, I’m very hesitant on paying more then $10 for a 5GB downloadable game that I cant back up. Which I might end up deleting once I’m out of space on HDD. That’s my biggest fear. 1GB – 1.5GB is the highest I can go for a downloadable game. Specially since so many games are starting to require an install to play. I think Sony should have a serial number attached to your PSN ID that shows proof of purchase already and you can re-download it to only your console.

My only concern is about the file size. I’m running pretty low on my 60GB HD. I don’t see myself spending more money on a new PS3 HDD. Guess I’ll just delete Qore, Grand Turismo Prologue 5, DMC4, UT3, Ninja Gaiden and SC4. I’ll just keep MGS4. That’s the only one worth the downloaded data anyways.

  • Woah crap! Wasnt this game announced early 2007 and now were near the end of 2008? It took that long to remake a psp game in HD? Wish there were more tracks so I can atleast consider it.

  • Day 1 buy for me! I’ve been waiting for this game to drop and now that its soooo close I feel even more antsy. Cannot wait to see Wipeout in 1080p/60fps HD glory on my Sony Bravia XBR. Wipeout was meant for this.

    peace,
    Lh

  • This game looks like its going to kick some ass, sweet stuff folks Thanks Sony!!!

  • GhostM,

The thing you need to remember is that you’re viewing these screenshots on a computer monitor, which means you’re likely viewing them at a size somewhere between 17″ to 24″. On your television, those images are displayed far larger, so you’ll notice a lot of pixelation (depending on how far you sit from your television).

As well, computer monitors are capable of displaying a full RGB range (each colour displayed with 256 levels of intensity). The vast majority of televisions, on the other hand, only display a limited range of RGB values (usually only around 220-230 levels per colour).

It’s usually best to have your PS3 set to “Limited RGB”, instead of Full. The “full” setting will likely crush your detail levels in dark and really bright areas, as your t.v. is not capable of displaying the full RGB range.

  • I will purchasr this game the second it is released on the PSN, this how to really do a true psn game rather than sell you a level and characters separatley across a whole year(no names but we all know who)

Back on point i can’t wait to have sensory overload going 400 mph and tuning up the Drum n Bass on WHD! :)

  • This is pretty much like the most awesome thing EVER! Thank you!

  • Will buy. Thanks Sony.

  • @ 99 they said it was XMB THROPHIES… People don’t read anymore.

  • That’s awesome; happy we have such a quick release date. Also a really great price.

However, one concern: All the newest previews have said that Zone Mode is really toned down in terms of the equalizer effect on the track, but that screen shot makes it look like nothing’s changed, (which I would be totally happy about). I mean, you guys could just have a setting for how bright the equalizer effect could be so epileptics could just turn it off or whatever, right?

Anyway, great price, great release date, would be cool to know about Zone Mode’s equalizer though.

  • @ gunwing comment #50
You really sold your PS3? This is when all the best PS3 exclusives are coming out.

  • BTW, I’m buying this on launch! SUCH a good deal! :D Thanks Sony! :D

  • Thank you, Studio Liverpool! You guys are the absolute BEST at what you do!

  • The only game I’m buying this month. Was wondering if it had USB headset support. I would like to tell the person that just ate the wall I DID IT!!!!!

  • REALLY nice Price, I was expecting a lot more.
    Day1 for me

btw. you forgot to mention the Photo-Mode, which lets you make screenshots up to 1080p :D

  • Sorry Daimion,
I read through your post too fast:
“AND the option for custom playlists that allow you to race to whatever playlists you have on your HDD.”

Anyway, definitely going to get this game. I predict, that this is going to be the most downloaded content the PSN ever had.

  • Is it just me, or didn’t there come any answers on when it hit Europe? hopefully SCEE will put their act together and release it, or that SONY goes ahead and makes a store to the entire world.

Besides that I proberly will be buying this, even the WeipOut series never spoke to me, the trophies does :-D

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesomely awesome news.

  • Does anybody knows how big is the download?

  • @35

Hah! You just got schooled kid. Perhaps you should work on not being such a pretentious snob. You forget that alot of the sony producers are where they are for a reason and are making alot more money than you. Therefore naturally i would deduce that they are not idiots. Shouldnt go through lif treating everybody as if they are, you’ll end up alone. Good Day :)

  • Are there any plans for DLC?

  • Awesome!! 19.99 is a bargain

  • Cant wait to take full advantage of my TV :P

Please Add some more levels in the Future and make them FREE please $20 is enough for a small game like this.. I can understand paying for a Vechile but not Levels.

    Hope you get this!

You would get more money with extra really cool vehicles!

Sometimes its the small charge that makes the most money…

Hear me out WE all Gamers will be Broke this Holiday season from all the great games. Thats why im saying this!

    Thanks for undstanding :D

  • Never really been a wipe out fan myself. But good to see this game finally got a release date.

  • @skatericky i agreed with you we are going to be broke some will be in debt i know a few friends who are going to be in debt .i for one am going to be broke.

  • Nice work Liverpool Studios :) And Sony: that is a very tempting price. The thing though is that some people still prefer real cars which means the same developer’s older PS3 game: F1 CE. I didn’t want to complain or say anything until now because you guys (Liverpool Studios) were busy with Wipeout HD, and if I asked for F1 CE trophies it would have been easy for you to use the same lame excuse that Insomniac is using: “Right we want to focus on our current title, so we cannot support trophies for our older ones”

Well, now that Wipeout is done, how about some trophy support for F1 CE. I don’t think it is too much to ask, because the game already has its trophies inside itself. Heck, you can even view big trophies on your trophy room. Why not convert these to real XMB universal trophies? Naughty Dog spoke of how easy it is to implement trophies if you already have a medal, trophy or similar system in the game already. If this is possible, most driving assists in the game have to be taken out and especially enforced penalties be implemented for the trophy requirements just in case you would fear people complaining the trophies would be too easy.

Actually the game gets quite difficult so it would be a nice trophy game. It was very very difficult getting a racing seat in “hard” difficulty setting in career mode, where you start as a test driver, but the force feedback on the g25 wheel and less traction control help, but I wouldn’t mind doing it again if I had to start a new save file just for the trophies.

If you guys do that, I am so sold for Wipeout HD at the very least as a thank you :)

  • @129

They ‘might’ be busy on the full WipEout?

  • I love this news so much that I will buy it twice!

  • I was never a huge fan of this game. Tho I have to give props for the inclusion of trophies and in game custom soundtracks. I still won’t buy it, but good job.

  • This is great news, but $20 seems a little hefty. I am definitely going to pick this up either way though.

  • DAY ONE!

  • I was expecting the game to be 30 or 40 bucks, this is a day one purchase for me.

  • Only thing that bums me out is how toned down zones got. I know its for legal reasons but the crazy version looked awesome. I will be picking up this for sure.

  • @madtyger, you should be ashamed to call 20$ “hefty”. This game is been shown as a full game since you can get a platinum trophy in this game |(

  • I wonder about the music in this game, I,ve liked all previous games’ music but this time there hasn’t been buzz about that.

It would be great if all previous race tracks were available as downloadable content in the future.

  • At least the pricing seems right although what about Europe? Also pricing needs to be good as you cant exchange downloaded games so once youve completed them your stuck with them!

    DTS MAN

  • what!?!? no eliminator!? still gonna spend my money on it, but not happilly :(

  • @everyone
Stop saying the game shoulda/coulda been 30-40 bucks!! Youll give them ideas!

  • LOL, September 25th is my birthday. xD

  • Steam allows to preload the games before the release date. The files are crypted to avoid friendly hackers to play it before, but we all avoid the online traffic jams.

Please Sony, the files on the Store are already crypted, just gave us the right to pre download it early !

  • Is it true that it will be under a gig? Thats what Eurogamer says… If so, its awesome!

  • Here’s a question:

Would it be possible for us to “preload” the game on our systems like the Steam service allows for? You let us pay for and download the encrypted game, and when the game releases, the game is unlocked. It would help prevent traffic woes on launch day.

  • I’ve been waiting for a good WipeOut game since Fusion, I skipped the PSP games. Mostly because I don’t have a PSP yet.

I can’t wait to get my hands on this. I just wish there was a disc version, tho. I don’t want to lose my game in any situation related to PSN.

  • @104

You can. If you delete a game from your HDD, that you have already paid for, you can redownload it to the same PS3 at no charge from the PSN. Just go to your downloads list, and select it again.

  • @148 and @104….just a word of caution….there is a limit for purchased items you can download…it’s 5 times you can download.

I didn’t realize this until I emailed Sony about a download that I had problems with.

  • @um…yah. Good thing you skipped games for a system you don’t own.

    :)
