Orlando PlayStation.Blog Meet-up Details

Don’t let me hear that the East Coast gets no love from us.

As mentioned earlier, I’ll be attending a blogging conference in sunny Orlando next week, and I’d like to meet you well-tanned PlayStation fans. Here are the details – we’ll be meeting up next Friday (September 26th) from 7-9 pm near downtown (*not* Downtown Disney!) at UCF’s FIEA – the awesome videogame grad school program that they’ve got going on down there.

We’ll be playing games competitively (yes, for prizes) and enjoying real southern BBQ, with sweet tea by the gallon. Mmmmmm, sweet tea…

FIEA people will also be around to answer questions – so if you’ve never seen a mo-cap studio before, this could be your big chance.

Afterwards, we’ll be conveniently located near the downtown bar ‘n’ club area, so I’m sure there’ll be some spillover as well. I’m a big fan of I-Bar, personally.

All you need to do is, um, show up. Yes, of course it’s free. RSVP at playstationblogorlando@gmail.com or on our Facebook event page, so we know how much pork to pull.

Haha, I don’t know when we’ll have an event there, but if I’m there, we’ll do something. I’ve got a 5 Canadian dollar bill in my wallet right now. They’re playing hockey on it. Hockey!

I use to have to friends at UCF. I’ll have to tell those I know nearby to visit. This is really cool news nonetheless.

It’s the downtown campus, not the main campus in east orlando.

Actually within walking distance of the court house, the Lynx terminal, and a jog from city hall. Over by the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre. Can’t miss it.

*not downtown disney* I was just down there tonight at the Irish Pub checking out the U2 tribute band Elevation.

did you know they’re actually taking all the bars out of Downtown Disney Jeff? That place is gonna become a ghost town…

hope i can find this place on the 26th!

Its jsut the clubs at Downtown DIsney that are closing not anything else.
Im excited about this event. Most of the gaming events at UCF are all Xbox related. Get some more events here.

You may want to close your eyes on the way to the mocap room lots of Xbox dev kits.

Hey Jeff how come Sony didn’t donate/offer at a discount any PS2’s, PSP’s or PS3’s to FIEA?

MS Dev is all SDK based, Sony requires alot more intimacy with the hardware than what the Xkits can deliver. My only real disappointment with FIEA.

What about the midwest, like Chi-Town or alittle outside the radar but not outside the radar(South Bend, IN) The home of the Fighting Irish and pretty good place that’s always packed for home games and a Home game combined with a Playstation event would be awesome in general.

And 3 hours is my modest estimation, I could hit some turbo boosts on the way there but my driving record here in FL is nothing short of Phantom Class, which means I’m on the verge being Contender Eliminated. =(

You opened the flood-gates, Jeff. I realize “giving the fans what they want” has its merits, but no matter how hard you try, someone’s going to feel screwed. You simply can’t please everyone. My recommendation would be to have four conferences: northeast, southeast, southwest, and, of course, the Superior Northwest (no bias intended- it’s just true XD ).

Aw, I wasn’t finished with that post! I didn’t even get to edit it for five minutes before deciding that it was too edgy and offensive to post! Of course, through the fault of no one but myself… or rather my stupid, genetically- and neurologically-impaired brain! Bad brain! I’m going to have to poke you with a Q-Tip!

Anyway, it probably would be a good idea to have some sort of system in which each quarter or section or whatever of the country gets its own Jeff Time. You’re a very popular guy, y’know. Have a good weekend. :)

This may be off-topic.
One thing I would like the PS3 is to be able to make sub folders.
Example:

Trailers > Home > Home Trailer.divx

I wont be able to keep organized. Ok, I may be an organizational freak but seriously I would like to see this in future firmware… please.

Sony, you HAVE to get L.A. Noire to remain PS3 exclusive. You’ve already lost FF13 which was a MAJOR push in PS3 sales. If you get LA Noire to stay PS3 exclusive, sales will MASSIVELY increase. You guys need this game to stay on top. Don’t let it get away from you, us PS3 fans are counting on you.
