As we mentioned last week, the eagerly-anticipated (understatement of the year) SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation Public Beta is less than a day away. Just in case you missed this recent message on SOCOM.com, and so you don’t furiously, continuously refresh your inbox at midnight – bringing Gmail to its knees – here’s SCEA’s Seth Luisi with the rundown:
We apologize to everyone for the inconvenience of the SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta delay. However, I am happy to say that everything has now been worked out and the SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta will go live in North America tomorrow for anyone who has preordered at GameStop/EB GAMES. You must be registered for the SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta using the instructions provided on the GameStop/EB GAMES SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta voucher to get your SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta code.
Assuming you’ve already registered, here is what to expect. At around 10am Pacific Daylight Time, e-mails containing the SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta PSN codes will start going out in bursts. The e-mails will start arriving at e-mail in-boxes throughout the day. The e-mail will be sent to the PSN login e-mail address you provided when you registered for the SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta. To redeem the SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta PSN code, use the following steps:
* Go to the PLAYSTATION Network Icon on the PLAYSTATION 3 XMB (XrossMediaBar).
* Select “Account Management.”
* Select “Transaction Management.”
* Choose “Redeem PLAYSTATION® Network Card or Promotion Code.”
* Enter the SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta code which you received in the e-mail.
* Click “Continue.”
* The download will be available on the next screen.
* Redeem and download your own SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta client first, then give the code to two other friends.I look forward to seeing you all on-line in the SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation Public Beta.

Wow I have been downloading the beta from 10:09 this morning it is now 1:57pm and my PS3 is only at 46% downloading. I am using wireless is it faster using Ethernet line ???

You guys are ridiculous, not trying to be a jerk, but seriously guys, acting like this isn’t going to solve anything, everyone just relax, your beta codes are probably in the auto-mailer, just give it time, and heck maybe it’s even tied into the beta program to the point that it’s testing the server flows, and you might not get your email until it needs more people to jump on.
Oh, and those of you dissing on Slant Six, can shove it, SS is a great design team, and Seth Luisi is still in control, Idunno why you all think that just because it doesn’t say Zipper on it it’s not a Socom, or because it doesn’t say Zipper on it it’s a huge calamity… last I checked Slant Six Games put out an award winning psp game called Socom:Tactical Strike.
Those of you whining about graphics, know this… updates can improve many things included of which can be visuals, how do you know those are final, after all it is a beta, and besides, Socom was never about the over the top detail, It was about the fine line between arcade action, and realistic gritty simulated combat, and also it was always about Strategy, and the way the games played out in a room, the rules, and tactics, and teamwork/communication.

I haven’t been sent my email code either, for what it’s worth…? So I’d imagine that a lot of people are still waiting on emails based on how many people are complaining about it atm. I highly doubt 50% of entrants typed their emails wrong.

Leave it to Slant6 not to carry over all of the original controller configurations from the Socom series…..scout config not included means starting from scratch on how to move through this game.

GAMESTOP screwed me also, preordered the game as they advertise in pormo the codes, yet when i called them today they said they ran out of codes weeks ago and I won’t get mine, false advertising by gamestop, lucky enough of my clan got codes to pass around.

Please Tell Me this game is nice. It took me two hours to download and i couldn’t even play. Everytime i join a game it froze. could invite my friend. this is crazy but understandable it’s the beta and the first day. So many people on was killing the server I guess, anyway i can’t wait to actually be able to play. i wait until later tonight and try again….Please pray for me. I’ve been waiting to long to be disappointed as we all are.

also I had the same issue with gamestop. I ordered it at one store and found out about the beta and called another one showed my slip and they gave me a code. But not getting my e-mail yet is pretty bad. So much for being a die hard and being on the ball with this stuff.

Get off the n ut sack Kedaro. Its very obvious Slant tried to make a different version of Socom. I hope your right and it only looks and feels this crappy because its the beta. There’s a lot of die hard Socom fans that have been playing this since Socom 1. We just expected to get the best shooter game back with improved graphics and maybe an upgrade here and there.

I think those who are complaining about graphics/gameplay should realize that a beta this far into a game’s development cycle exists only to test the server stability. The game is more or less done at this point.

Arghhhh, I’m a UK based self-confessed SOCOM addict and have just returned from Hawaii where I bought my PS3 only to realise that I cannot get onto the SOCOM Public Beta.
I know it’s an extremely long-shot but to spare my sanity (and that of my Wife) does anyone out there have a spare SOCOM code they’d be willing to hook me up with??

i know it’s lat now but we seem to have ignored one thing. ON Qore if you go to the there download page, there is a icon like that states “SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation Beta” not demo, but when you click on it you can’t download it.

I cant believe what a terrible expirience this is. The beta sucks. Terrible load times, horride play that takes forever to get into a game. Then when you do finally get into a room you play you can’t always respawn. I played all weekend and after every game once back in the lobby it won’t even load into the next game. Then you quit game and go back into Confrontation. and try to get back into the room and again it fails to load into the game.
My Clan has even gone to using the XMB instead of the in game messaging. You can’t simply follow your friends any longer. No for some reason Slant 6 is taking the worst ideas for Socom Confrontation. I bought a PS3 for the Confrontation now I find myself playing other games instead. Slant 6 needs to make these things right.

I realize that its a beta.
However I also note that they need to fix it. I understand that the beta is going to lag, catch, mess up in general however I do know that we heard for months how great the game play was and while the game play is great they still have quite a ways to go.
I want nothing but to have a great expirience with Confrontation. And I am hopefull that they(Slant 6) will fix the mess that they are creating.
I know that no game is great on beta release I still would love to meet the expectation of at least being able to play longer than 10 minute rounds. for a couple of times and then have the game basicly crash.
I’m sure that somewhere in Slant6 somebody went “um excuse me but what about the loading problems?”
I only want this to be great because I want SOCOM to continue. See you in the trenches!

There is aweful loading issues and some lagging issues as well. Overall though i’d say the game is the sht. Can’t wait for the real version and my new mic.

I Hope they are looking at this to fix the bugs. Yes I understand this is beta testing. I say this BEFORE YOU ALL DO ANYTHING ELSE TO THIS GAME
STOP THE PRESS AND
FIX THE SPAWN CAMPING PROBLEM IN ALL THE PAST SOCOMS.
While I waited for this one to come out. I have been playing Call of Duty 4 and it was nice to see you could RESPAWN with out some one camping you for a million kills and you cant move. I have been playing for a few days and already have been spawn camped just about everyday I have played. Dont get me wrong I love my SOCOM but that is one dam thing that im sure everyone hates… SO PLEASE FIX IT PLEASE.. 20 min to wait to get in a game to get spawn camp SUX!!!!

Wired is always faster than wireless, 100Mbps vs. 54Mbps max.
