Heya, it’s been a while since I’ve been seen around these parts as James Stevenson, Bryan Intihar and the others at Insomniac have been doing most of the Resistance 2 posting as of late. Along with my return to the blog, I bring a few announcements with regards to R2:
- Today, October 16th, the public beta for Resistance 2 will begin in North America. The beta will offer gamers a glimpse at Resistance 2’s online competitive and co-op modes ahead of the game’s launch on November 4th. We will be admitting players in two waves: a Premiere wave which includes those that pre-ordered at GameStop, individuals who subscribed to QORE for one year and/or bought the episode featuring Resistance 2 and a recent contest from GamePro.com. Those of you in the Premiere wave should be receiving an email with a registration code between now and tomorrow afternoon. A second wave is starting in the middle of next week, and you apply to be a part of it by going to beta.myresistance.net once the site goes live (later tonight). For those of you across the pond in Europe, the public beta will also begin next week.
- The Beta will include competitive maps from three locations in the game. These maps include 60-, 40-, and 20-player maps from Orick, 40- and 20-player maps from Chicago, and the 10-Player map Sub Docks (Bay Area). New modes Skirmish and Core control will be supported, along with Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch. The co-op portion of the beta will focused on Orick, and will support randomization of your play-path. Both co-op and competitive will support matchmaking and class/character progression up to level 10. This will allow unlocking of new equipment, upgrades and berserks for character customization.
- Speaking of beta.myresistance.net, the beta version of our new community site goes live tonight as well. Customizable leader boards/user profiles, individual blogs and ‘ticker’ that provides players with up to minute information of happenings on the site are just some of the features the beta site has to offer. Leading into the November 4th North American launch of the game (and the months to follow), we’ll be adding several more features that will make MyResistance.net the destination for all Resistance fans.
- And, finally, Resistance 2 has gone gold. As a special treat, the below image gives all of you PlayStation Blog readers an idea on just how big just the online coop campaign mode is :)
That’s all for now. Keep your eyes open for more R2 announcements as we lead into launch. If you have any questions, write them in the comments sections and I’ll do my best to answer them.
Sony wheres my code?
woot! got my code! :D
So when do those who have just the single episode of Qore get in? I didn’t notice anything that said “Only annual subscribers”.
I had the same problem with the Socom Beta. Had a free Qore voucher code from Playstation the Official Magazine and never received my code. They then kept me in email limbo for 20 days to finally say “we’re sorry. But the Beta is over.” So I get an email today saying we have refunded 2.99 to your PSN account and for questions call the support number. I guess they are tired of hearing me through email.
Anyone else encounter any of this?
I preordered from gamestop about 2 weeks and ago and registered the code with the resistance website and yet I still have not recieved the email with the beta key in it… shoul dI be worried? Has the first wave ceased yet? Im just a little bit concerned at the moment… I really want to give feed back on the new beta release… any information would be helpful.. thank you very much
I never paid for that episode and they know this! I repeated it in EVERY email I sent them. I wish the rest of you best of luck and I’m pretty sure they will not let me in on this Beta.
well it is finally afternoon and i still havent recieved my email for the beta. Im beging to get worried.
Also sorry to double post but i mean to say im begining to get worried. Also for those of you who have already got your code, how does the whole beta code work? Do you get it from your email and then type it into your Ps3 or something?
Got the beta… and played last night – AWESOMENESS!!!!
The co-op gameplay is very addictive!
Anyone with an extra or unwanted code?
I bought Qore. No message. Seriously, if I don’t get my code I want a refund on Qore.
I’m still waiting for the code… please get it in the inbox soon, please…
This is tightness in it’s raw form!!!!
o0O,..,O0o chimera FTW! RaWr!!!
still no code but i can wait, thanks for the updates

Where are the CODES?
ive been waiting for 2 days and im getting worried, like im going to get it at 12 AM and im going to have to go to bed because its going to take 3 hours to download. or i just wont get it at all, i got the Qore ep. 3 AND pre-ordered it. and today is just going great finding out that LBP got pushed back
Hi all,
Apologies for the delayed response. To answer some of the more common questions:
‘When will I get my beta code’ – As of now, all beta codes for the first wave have gone out. We are still accepting sign ups for wave 2 starting next week, so go to beta.myresistance.net now and apply!
‘When will beta.myresistance.net go live’ – It is live now.
‘I entered my preorder code in Gamespot’s site and didn’t get a beta code’ – I’ll need to confirm, but you should be in for the second wave. We had to cut off adding people to wave one last week to generate the list of names. Sorry.
Also, make sure you check our newest trailer on the front page of blog :)
i need a code!!! T______T
Yeah, I’m thinking the same thing about the single Qore episode. I only bought it for the beta and if I don’t get a code, I want my money back! Seriously.
Greg,
I’m both a Core subscriber and I have a preregistration code…I thought I was guaranteed a spot with both of these?
Now wait a minute! I am an annual qore subscriber and I preordered thru gamestop. So why am I not in this first wave!!! So in other words it was a waste for me to buy qore if I am not able to get in betas like promised. I think Sony really needs to look this situation over because there are so many mad customers now because of this snafu.
OK what is going on? All the codes have been sent out? Yeah…I want a refund for the Qore ep.
I have Qore, and still have not recieved a code.
yes I think people who bought Qore and didnt get in the first wave like we were told should get our money refunded.
Home beta keys at http://www.mindtricks.co.nr
The Home Beta Key things looks fake
I hope I get a code soon.
I bought Episode 3 of Qore and remember seeing that I wouldn’t get “premiere” access to the Resistance 2 beta. But the following part of this post makes it seem like I should: “a Premiere wave which includes … individuals who subscribed to QORE for one year and/or bought the episode featuring Resistance 2 …” Am I misunderstanding the quote?
Can’t wait to play R2! (whether it’s the beta or the retail version)
So Greg, am I to assume that I will get my code in the second wave since I subscribed to Qore yesterday morning before codes started going out?
“‘I entered my preorder code in Gamespot’s site and didn’t get a beta code’ – I’ll need to confirm, but you should be in for the second wave. We had to cut off adding people to wave one last week to generate the list of names. Sorry.”
I entered my code two weeks ago from my Collector’s edition preorder that I reserved @ GameStop the day it was announced, after finding out that instead of email delivery that was described on the website when I preordered that instead you had to pick up a “Voucher” after I luckily found that info after it happened. Now this. I didn’t pay for my preorder to be in “Wave 2”. I paid for first class, not coach.
There are also reports of people entering new voucher codes right now that get a code immediately.
Fix it.
Had my details crossed up a bit. Here\’s the deal in regards to Gamespot pre orders:
The last batch for Premiere entry will be going out shortly. This will include anyone who registerd in the past week (give or take) and should take care of most of you.
As of yesterday, if you registered, you were given a voucher code automatically (hence the rumor you were hearing).
