New DLC for HVB Fans!

Mike Skinner's Avatar + Posted by Mike Skinner on Oct 23, 2008 // Team RamRod

Hello everyone! Team RamRod is here again this week to introduce some new High Velocity Bowling (HVB) goodness. I know it’s gonna be tough to compete with last week’s release of the FREE HVB Online Play update in North America, but we have more great news for our fans here in the States. To all our fans in Europe who are waiting for the online action and new content, please know that we are working as fast as we can to release it to you as well.

Anyone that has played HVB knows that it is filled with an eccentric mix of characters and bowling alleys. Joe and Jill might be your average family playing in a common setting, but it’s not everyday you can mix it up on the lanes with a biker who wants to be a Viking. Most of you know that HVB hasn’t had any new faces in the neighborhood for quite a while, so without further delay, I am proud to introduce everyone to our newest bowlers, Foxy Powers and Chastity Falls!

Foxy Happy Foxys Den 02

Foxy Powers
Foxy Powers is a retro revolutionary, who hails from Oakland, California. She spends her time challenging one sucker after another in her cool, dark den. Foxy has a powerful shot with a good spin. Downloading Foxy also nets you her special ball, “The Revolution” and her new lane “Foxy’s Den” which is styled with funky 70′s disco ambiance and music.

Chastity Falls
Chastity is a talented and enthusiastic dancer born and raised in South Carolina. Her bowling style is to smash the pins using a heavy ball with a decent hook. When you download Chastity you’ll also receive access to her lane, “Redneck Mansion,” as well as her ball, “Spare Change.”

Chastity Alt Spare Change 01

All Hallow’s Eve Ball Pack
Finally, for the first time in HVB, we are able to offer ball packs! The first one is the All Hallows Eve Ball Pack Add-On! This download gives you access to six different Halloween styled balls including two of our special see-through “showcase” balls.

Cobweb Redneck

Everything will be available beginning today, Thursday, October 23 and will be priced at $0.99 per item. We hope that you’re all enjoying HVB as much as we are. It’s been great playing against you online!

See you online…

Team RamRod

So is the online fixed yet? I stopped playing because my ranking was reset after each game and I’m not getting the trophies I should have been awarded. Thanks.

awesome news! I just bought this game last week… I was tempted not to, but am I ever glad I did… It was a pleased to find out it uses 6-axis motion control so well. My little white box is now collecting dust… And I will be buying these new characters and the ball pack as well. Any hope for a bundle pack yet?

All Lanes Open!

Good evening HVB fans. A short time ago we upgraded the HVB Online servers. All player statistics and player ranking should now be processing normally. The best news is that all stats from your previous games are being serviced retroactively. This also means that any PSN Trophy that should be unlocked will open up once you complete your next online game.

Team RamRod would like to thank everyone for their patience through this process.
We hope you enjoy High Velocity Bowling Online as must as we do.

Have fun tonight!

Mike

Apparently some people are having connection problems but it appears to be working now for most people. Give it a try.

Thanks for the update, and I hope Team Ramrod continues the support of HVB! I had a great time playing HVB again last night with the new online support, which was very seamless and smooth by the way. Love the lobby and matchmaking system, and trophies, of course. :)

BTW…what the heck is with the ads spewing from the satelitte! Not a bad thing but it would be better if they were ‘interactive’ (clickable) to get you more info!

That satelitte reminds me of something from Crash Bandicoot Cortex.

AHHHHHRGH!

I would love to DL this new stuff, but my PS3 has been stuck at the XMB wave screen since i updated to firmware v2.5!!!!!!!

I asked and asked Jeff if there was going to be a 2.51 fix to the problems people were having with 2.5, but he never responded, so i decided to update..

AND NOW MY PS3 HAS BEEN BROKE BY THE UPDATE!!!

IT WAS WORKING FINE BEFORE!!!

i can’t believe this, all these great games coming out, and just like with 2.4 i’m screwed..

fable 2 is looking pretty good about now..

+ LokeSTL on October 23rd, 2008 at 9:02 am said:

Cool….

Now what happened to the Black PSP-3000 4GB
Memory Pack? Amazon.com not only canceled their pre-orders, but took the item off of their sight. CircuitCity.com also took the item down. Are you going to release the darn thing or what?

Awesome!!!

+ kspraydad on October 23rd, 2008 at 9:04 am said:

FritoZ…you had issues with 2.4 AND 2.5? Perhaps you should be pursuing a replacement with SONY customer service? The odds of having and issue with both must be ASTRONOMICALLY tiny.

19

+ Charliesdad on October 23rd, 2008 at 9:04 am said:

Dang! Knew I should have picked this up when the price dropped. Any chance of another PSN sale coming soon?

20

+ kspraydad on October 23rd, 2008 at 9:05 am said:

@16…why the heck would the developer of HVB know ANYTHING about the PSP and or Amazon.com/Circuit City?

Thanks for that info :) I was about to post about the stat tracking being broken but it seems they fixed it. Can’t wait to get home and try it with the new characters and bowling balls!

Well if online is fixed so i can get my trophies i will grab the content :)

24

+ FritoZ on October 23rd, 2008 at 9:07 am said:

@kspraydad

yup, after 2.4 debacle, i sent it in and they gave me a brand new 60 gig PS3 ( i guess they have a backstock of em to replace people’s with)

so i had to start all over on MGS4 (always back up your saves!)

that’s why i was so scared to update, but i couldn’t play online or access PSN if i didn’t update..

I really just can’t believe it..

:(

You guys are doing an awesome job Team, I’m really glad I purchased this game when I first got the playstation 3. Shoot, i’m really happy everything is priced reasonably(FREE), at this rate of the dlc you’ve given us; would definitely have made me spend about $50.

@ big_king_kill and Macks1974
Thanks for the heads up guys. I’m gonna go play right now.

my roomate’s PS3 updated, and now he can’t stream anything from his computer anymore, and most of his videos all play in black and white, but at least he can still play games!!

mine just sits there at the initial wave screen with no icons or anything..

so sad……so sad..

Awesome news. Glad to see the DLC pick up. I probably won’t get the new characters, but I’m playing the game again and (I think) that’s what counts. Gonna log some time this weekend.

If I play online against someone who has purchased a new character, they are the host, and they select the new alley that comes with the character, will I see it on my screen?

That is, does the patch include the graphical assets to display the new characters and alleys, or will both players need to have purchased the content?

@trooper…

Its an American developer…I can sit here and b1tch about SingStore US if it will make you feel better. Plus…this developer took the time IN THIS BLOG ENTRY to address EU concerns even though it is a US focused blog.

Who needs a wii with games like this on ps3, sony needs to make more games like this, like whoever made the Go ski game or make a tennis or ping pong game. I’m a 20yr old gamer and I enjoy all types of games and these type of games are quite enjoyable

Mike,

Online is great. Lots of fun playing with others AND, AND voice chat. Super update. Long time coming.

Any idea when the stats will be updating again. Most of here posted on the other blog post about stats not updating. Glad to see you guys responded so late after that post. However, good luck getting players to BUY DLC that’s only nice to look at playing single player.

I’m stuck with only half the trophies because stats stopped updating all the way back to last Saturday night.

Let’s us know what’s up Mike! Thanks for supporting the best use of the SIXAXIS yet.
