  • Do you have any plans on releasing Xam’d: The Lost Memories season 1 on Blu-Ray?

  • Lots of stuff. None I will buy.

  • Keep putting comedy movies up! Eventually, I will buy some more!

  • Also, consider adding the trailers under the rarely-used PREVIEW section of the item on the PS Store! I would probably buy some of the more obscure movies if I knew what they were about.

  • has sony figured out a way for us that purchased movies and then upgraded our hdds can get our digital purchases back?

  • More Cartoons and more networks!!!!

  • Can we re-download deleted content yet? If not, then the PSN Video Store is worthless in comparison to Hulu.com OR just buying the actual DVD’s.

Sometimes Sony is SO OBLIVIOUS to the way things work…

  • I again have to mirror the sentiment that the PSVideo Store pricing/rental/re-download purchased content policies are really holding the service back..

I have yet to rent/buy anything due to the oppressive nature of the policies.

    So….

let us rent a video for one week, let us watch it as many times as we want within that week! Is that so hard?

And if we buy something, it should be ours!

Let us transfer it to another device, let us re-download it if we get a new PS3 or have to reformat ours because a firmware update binked it!

    Cmon! This is easy!

You’re going to have to compete with the New Xbox Expeciance and Netflix in under one week!

    SO STEP IT UP!

MAKE US WANT TO ACTUALLY USE THE STORE!

    thanks for listening!

  • Has anyone thought about the conflict between having a video store that has a user pay for television content and a browser that is now flash 9 capable that allows you to watch the same content on the same device for free through sites like hulu.com?

  • are there any plans to release the video store in the UK soon? I really wanna watch X’amd, it looks brilliant!

  • Thanks for the updates

  • What about Canada?

Everything Sony does always takes forever it seems…why??

That red tape must be pretty damn long.

  • Sweet! Up In Smoke is on there

  • Please extend rental time…instead of it expiring after use, let it expire after a certain amount of time after 1st use longer than 24 hrs

  • Good update.

  • @ striplay

I am Canadian as well but I recognize that due to CRTC and international licensing issues, digital download stores take a while to get going in Canada. Don’t blame Sony, blame our own government mandates. I recently talked with one of the top people on the Sony Playstation Canada team and they indicated that they want to bring the Video Store to Canada sometime in 2009 and that the wheels have been turning for a while.

Looking at Xbox live, it took well over a year before Canada received it’s video marketplace and it wasn’t nearly as robust as the USA one.

We need to be patient for the Video Store to come to Canada but Sony, for gosh sakes, please keep us updated on this. Not everyone can speak with playstation reps whenever they want.

  • Oh and SONY, please extend the rental time period to 1 week with unlimited views. I buy movies on disc that I want, but if I want to rent via DD, I should be able to watch it as many times as I want within a specific time frame.

  • Good update, worthless concept–it’s cheaper to buy DVD’s (aka. hard copies) and then there’s no worries of losing your content to a HDD crash.

  • @16 – bigshynepo

Thanks for posting what you found out.

I agree, we need to keep being informed of the progress for this service or I’m afraid many are just going to lose interest.

  • and I still have netflix. Sony is to busy trying to compete with old business models.
NXE is coming next week unlimited HD streaming MS is going to sell xbox, netflix and silverlight in one swoop.
I am considering buying a x*&x just for netflix!
You should put up a poll who has netflix or blockbuster.

  • Maybe I’m the only person who has bought them, but I would be thrilled if you guys would add more episodes of Super Jail to the video store. It is the craziest cartoon I’ve seen and I’d buy more episodes in a heartbeat.

  • @bigshynepo
The video store was released last August you have to admit that we been really patient with Sony. Especially considering the use of the words North America in their press release. We still cannot find PSN card in Canada and god forbid we ask for PlayTv or some other PVR service for our ps3 because we will be SOL for that too!

  • Please extend the rental time, 24 hrs is not enough time. Please also find a way for people who’ve bought movies and do HDD upgrades (a key feature of PS3) to be able to keep their movies on their new HDD, or have the ability to redownload off their cart in the PS Store. I’m sure you guys can figure out a way so that the DRM is tied to the actual PS3 machine that is used to play it. I won’t be buying any more movies or rentals until this is addressed unfortunately, and I do want to!

  • Thanks Sony keep it commin. We do need more anime…much more! Transformers,Spiral Zone, and for my wifey JEM.

  • Tons of good movies at the PS Video store, but all I want is a copy of The Prestige for sale (not just to rent). Lets make it happen!

  • Woooo!! Good Burger!

    j/k

  • I haven’t downloaded any videos yet, but here is how I would think it would go:

    1) Purchase Video, get a soda.
    2) Come back, only 1% there. Get a pizza.
    3) Come back again, 5% there. Go potty.
    4) Back again, 7% there. Go to video store.
    5) Back with my BLU-RAY rental, 15% there.
    6) Watched movie, canceled download, bed time!

  • can we get any word on being able to download and SAVE or KEEP X’amd episodes? i really want to check it out but can’t justify paying that much for a one time view.

also…SONY…what’s up with the Home Beta emails? i bought the annual Qore subscription in July and haven’t received an email for the beta. what’s up?

  • @27…i’ve downloaded a few movies.

once you start the download you can start watching once it’s at 1% because the download is faster than it takes to view the movie/show episode.

i usually download…sit down and start watching a minute after i clicked download. fyi.

  • Well, I refuse to buy more videos because they have protection on them so that if I wanted to get a bigger HD I would need to purchase those movies AGAIN — which I will not. If SONY gives me a code, as in the games, then I will buy movies because that would mean that I can replace HD and download already purchased movies again -or at least be able to transfer them.
    Thank you!

  • @30…you can already do that…but you have to purchase the movie instead of rent it.

no where can you rent a movie and go get it again whenever you want  that’s retarded.

BUT…if you PURCHASE the movie it’s on your HDD for as long as you like and you CAN transfer it…to your PSP for example.

lesson: common sense answers a lot of questions

  • @ Kristi
wow, i was just about to add to that comment, thanks for the early heads up on that stream. i’d give ya a big kiss but my woman gets jealous easily
    :D

  • Could you guys get season 8 of Smallville on the video store? =)

  • @SDkngsht heres some ad hominem for you, you retard.
besides the fact that you tryed to back up your wrong information with the fact that you can transef your movies to your psp you had the arrogance to mock people with your “lesson” trust me you can ONLY transfer to the psp and nothing else, once on the psp it will never move from it.
even if you try to back up your data onto an external then upgrade your still screwed as it wont copy.
i bought 2 full movies from the ps store and will never buy anouther as to their terrible copy right protection.
even after calling consumer services and emailing while showing reciets and giving personal information, they will just turn you down and state its againts their policy.
now if sony really wanted to make a future proof console, they would allow you to upgrade your harddrive and allow your movies to transfer via a data backup however this is not the case
my only recomendation is that you do not buy movies from this online service you will lose them

  • I don’t know. Seemed to me that I mentioned “buy” and “purchased” movies….how he got the rented is a mystery. Anyway, I rather do iTunes (sorry SONY) but at least I can move my movie to a separate hard drive and I don’t have to worry about not being able to backup. Plus the wait to download is worth it compared to the copyright paranoia of you guys. Besides, the rental (there I said rental) period is much better on iTunes. Wonder why and how they took over the US market on music and movies? Odd!?

  • So erm… not to nag and all, but erm… can you poke in the backs of SCEE and ask why the heck its taking them so long to release this video download service down in Europe? UK has its Play TV while the rest of Europe is still waiting. What an outstanding organization of idiots… sorry to say this.

  • House of Dark Shadows! Woo-hoo!

  • GOOD BURGER! Now that’s a classic. lol.

“Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger, Can I take your order?”

This video update is filled with awesome and win just for that one movie alone xD

  • **GRACE***!!

with sony being as involved as they are with promotion as well as the amount and diversity of their products used in the latest bond movies, would it be possible to get casino royale up in hd and for rent, PRETTY PLEASE?!?

  • Thats so stupid how the Video Store is only for Americans. I GARENTEE you that Sony would make atleast 3 times as much money if they relased the PSVideo Store to every singel PS3
