I love my routine on Thanksgiving: get the paper, then plan my Black Friday attack while watching football all the way until Turkey Time. And then: a huge pile of dishes, but that’s kind of irrelevant for this conversation.
Back to the Black Friday deals – there are a lot to be found this year on PlayStation games and hardware, as well as some awesome limited-time bundles which mark a great time to enter next-gen gaming for those who haven’t already.
So since all of us here at PlayStation.Blog are home with their families – we’re going to leave this post up as a PlayStation Holiday Deal “discussion board” through Monday, when we resume our normal programming. So if you find a great deal, even at a smaller, non-national chain, please share it with your fellow readers in the comments area below.
Here are a few I found this morning to get it started:

Best Buy: Sony PLAYSTATION 3 80GB Package w/Ratchet and Clank Future Game + Casino Royale Blu-ray – $399.99

Kmart: $25 off your next gaming purchase when you buy any PS3 system.

Radio Shack: DualShock PS3 Wireless Controller – $29.99

Target: Free $20 Gift Card w/ Purchase of PSP

Walmart: Blu-ray movies including Iron Man and Kung Fu Panda for $15.
Now it’s time for you to share your own (and please keep it on topic!).
Good luck waking up early to score these deals, and Happy Thanksgiving!

I had to pick up Crisis Core ($15) and God of War: CoO ($20) off of Amazon. I’ve already got a backlog of games to play, but that was just too good to pass up.

Guess we’ll see.

My black friday loot:
4gb memory stick pro duo – $15 at office depot
assassin’s creed (ps3 of course) – $10 at game crazy
(I know, it’s been out for a while, but from what I hear it’s still a pretty good game)
transformers (bluray) – $10 at bestbuy
iron man (bluray) – $15 at walmart
The satisfaction of NOT camping out at walmart for a cheap bluray player – priceless

Got a TV for the in-laws. Was not on sale however, it could help keep them from stopping over so much :) j/k (maybe). She did however find a nice cookie jar for $7 that was original @50. Hope it’s void of lead ;). Everything else was for others. I take it that’s what the holidays are for anyway.

The best deal that I could find was at SonyStyle.com. I got a PS3 bundled set. Console, MotorStorm and an extra controller for $520. Then when I signed up for the Sony Card, I got an instant $100 credit and then after charging $1500 on the VISA Sony Card by 03/31/2009, I will get another $100 credit. Can’t beat that deal! A PS3 for $320 with a game and extra controller!

Has anyone noticed the Divx VOD code that Sony gave us in the last update. Is it Sony’s answer to netflix on demand for the xbox. I will be trying this code out soon. If you have let me know what happened.
Code location: Go to System Settings, and then scroll down to Divx VOD Registration Code. You will see the 8 character code and the website where the instructions are located. You have to have a Divx account which should be free.

@ 124
Ya, seriously. Like they’re gonna put a 5 dollar game on a bluray disk just to use like 2% of its storage capacity. *rolls eyes*
130
stennex | November 29th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
I finished that Divx setup, i guess my PS3 is now a certified divx player. Sony really need to elaborate soon about this feature. I hope they just give us a divx player and all we have to do is type in the code. It was too much i think to go and burn a cd after setting up an account. The PS3 is suppose eliminate these kinds of processes and be the all in one entertainment system.

@127 and 129 – stennex.
I didn’t know about the DivX feature until seeing your post here and I’m glad you made it.
I setup DivX on my PS3 and everything works great now; even tried creating some DivX movies and it plays very well on the PS3.
Thanks for commenting about this extra PS3 feature.

Below is the video link for setting up and certifying Divx on your PS3. I found it after tirelessly trying to setup mine. What a blessing, but couldn’t Sony have posted it on the PS Store for us.

@ blazsox – yeah you’re lucky man, I got to Wallie World too late and $15 BR deal was already done. I really wanted Iron Man and Indiana Jones at those HOT prices. I’m officially jealous.
On a side note my g/f picked up Mirror’s Edge for me today for $40! I guess that’s a deal. still haven’t popped it in but I loved the demo. guess we’ll see how that pans out.
peace,

@138 – stennex.
I just followed the link that was supplied by Sony on the XMB.
It directed me to the DivX site and specifically stated it was for the PS3.
There were instructions at that site how to use the tool, as well as another site where you can purchase DivX movies for each region/country.
I found it actually pretty easy to set this all up and it’s working fantastically.

I picked up Assassins Creed at Gamecrazy for $7.00, they had new ones on sale for $9.99 but the used version was on sale for $7.00 and it was in brand new shape so I just got the used one.
I also bought Enemy Territory Quake Wars for PC for $4.99 at Circuit City. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the sale.

bulleteddy | December 1st, 2008 at 8:25 am
I’m surprised Sony didn’t provide more of the Best Buy bundle. My local store sold out within minutes…they only had 10 or so. But the Xbox deal that came with 4 games had a whole stack and they were selling like crazy long after the PS3 ones were done.
