Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Cometh!

Posted by John Diamonon // Capcom

It’s a great time to be a Street Fighter! It’s with great pleasure that I announce that HD Remix will arrive on the PlayStation Network real soon! Now you have the chance to debate which legs are more appealing, the turkey leg you’re about to have or the ones on Chun-Li.

SFHD PSN

Here are the details:
Release date: November 25, 2008 (I know, finally, right?)
Price: You’ve heard it here first! Only $14.99!
Trophies: Not at launch
Online Play: Of course
Graphics: 1080p baby
Gameplay: Two types – Original and Rebalanced

Here are some videos that will get you hyped for the game and will make you say, “Put him in a body bag!”

But wait, there’s more! Exclusive to the PlayStation Network, fans will have the opportunity to download the Street Fighter Underground Remix Soundtrack for free! I was able to get a few of my favorite hip hop artists to create original songs inspired by the series. Here’s the line up: Redman, Hieroglyphics, DJ Qbert, DJ Toure, Zion I, Mistah F.A.B. and Oh No.

SFHD Music

Oh yeah, we also have a “little” Street Fighter surprise coming later this holiday season. Let the speculation begin. Talk to you next week!

Hadouken!

I’m certain those free music tracks will end up on the internet available for 360 fans to use while playing the game and earning their achievements. So that perk is kind of a snowjob.

Please share the mp3 with your 360 friends! :)

@ 94

You’re the retard. You’re paying full price for a gimped version of a game.
I’m not buying the game neither because it doesn’t have Trophy support nor custom inn-game music.

ssp619  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:22 pm

When will you release the SF Characters for PAIN (Yes, we know)
+
Plz don’t include Mr.Perfect if you’re going to add MM9 trophies, it’s too much if a hassle to be worth it ;)

Is there going to be a demo for this game on PSN?

NO TROPHIES = NO…..

lulz, pathetic.

Day motherfookin’ one, well day one when its released in Pal land anyway.

Please sensible pricing in the UK capcom, no Dollar = Pound bullshiz.

Ghostm  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:28 pm

@ 97

We all know the rules dude. We know Sony didn’t make PS3 Trophies mandatory. But It’s a feature that’s extremely high on demand whether it’s mandatory or not. Developers should be smart enough to include such a high on demand feature. We, the customers are the voice of Sony. As much as we are asking for this feature. All developers should be listening to the fans who puts buys their product.

@ChefOo7

Honestly some people complaining have a point. If games aren’t going to have trophies in them, why bother having the system in general? I believe I saw somewhere in this blog that someone from Sony has said trophies are relatively easy to implement. Yet developers are saying the opposite.

I think Clinton514 is going to be disappointed. I doubt we’ll see a patch, the game is out, most of the money will already be made. There’s no incentive from a business standpoint.

I’m noticing a pattern of developers posting on this blog and taking the route of “I can’t confirm” line of answering. That way they aren’t saying no, but they promising either. So then you buy the game thinking to yourself “well they may roll out a patch”. Eventually you’re a little disappointed or forget about it, but not so much that you regret buying the game. The responses being given here in regards to trophies are very similar to the developer blog responses given to the Naruto game.

I’m not saying this is the case or that its being done with the intention of deceiving anyone, but being honest in saying that I’m starting to see a pattern that this is the “safe” answer to give for games releasing without trophies.

badass_gamer  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:35 pm

No trophies at launch! This is a PS3 trend and it’s really lame!!!

109

xprod1gy9x  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:35 pm

Where’s my beta key for purchasing the Qore yearly subscription SONY!! I want it now! I’ve been waiting to long for this.

@ 106

I second that dude!

Ghostm  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:39 pm

Also, $15.00 is a little steep. $10 would’ve been the sweet spot.

112

001  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:41 pm

List of Games capcom said trophies aren’t coming “at launch” to.

Bionic Commando
Megaman 9

These are all that I know of, anyone care to add to the list?

Capcom, you make damn good games, but we KNOW the trophies are never coming. You’re gonna say “you don’t know” if they’ll come, but then the next capcom game will be on psn and you’ll ignore the old ones. -_-

113

Jenovah  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:43 pm

Do these Viddler movies run choppy for anybody else?

114

venneer  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:46 pm

As some people have pointed out, I will be getting this game full-heartily, once trophies are added.
This is a game I am really looking forward to, but a game without total support is something I can consider incomplete. I hope you don’t consider this to offense, but this era of DLC is generating the bad habit of publishers releasing incomplete games that can be patched over. Well, I am not very found of that, I will pretend I am back in the day and wait for the game to be fully functional before giving it my dollars.
Just my two cents…

Peace.

115

happy_spud  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:46 pm

Yeah, I really want this game.

I’ll pass for now until Trophies are enabled.

Sony- Please start requireing every game to have Trophies at launch. This is why the “other guys” are beating you right now.

It almost makes me want to pick up an Xbox.

116

001  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:48 pm

It bothers me that the games I actually WANT to play never seem to get trophies, especially the PSN ones. Capcom by far makes the best PSN games and their games NEVER have trophies. NEVER. It really bothers me, I wish sony would throw capcom a bucket of money or something so they’d “find the time”.

117

ROLO_ONFIRE  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:49 pm

Hopefully you’ll add trophies and let each player log with a different account so they are assigned correctly.

Thanks for giving SF love to the PS3 :) I wanted this game since it was announced.

is the little surprise a SF4 demo? ;)

118

001  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:51 pm

Ok now that I got my anger off my chest again. I’ll tell you that I’m gonna buy it anyway. -_-

119

uumai  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:56 pm

Really happy to hear there will be a Saturn-like PS3 controller!! Tell me where and when and It’s mine, probably end up with 2.

No rumble required, nice and light, designed for hours and hours of play.

Not really bothered about trophies, or a demo – I mean come on – it’s SSF2 who hasn’t played it…

Again though, any news on UK release/price?

barom  |  November 20th, 2008 at 1:58 pm

Oh can’t wait. I can’t justify 60$ for a fighting game *cough* Street Fighter IV * cough*. But this, 15$ is a steal. Can’t wait.

Curious though, is the singleplayer worth playing? I mean will we see a cut scene at the end or anything?

Also how will the online work? Is it a lobby we go into and we find players or is there matchmaking. Or is it a room of 4-6 people like Tekken 5 DR?

Thanks anyway I’m looking forward to playing the game.

121

BIG-SLUG  |  November 20th, 2008 at 2:00 pm

Street Fighter reborn! I will definitely be picking this up.

Also, for the people who aren’t buying this game because it dosn’t have trophy support…

big deal. With all the games coming out this holiday season im actually happy to see games without trophy support. Now I can play the game and not have to worry about playing a certain way, or achieving a goal that I didn’t care about in the first place just to achieve 100% trophies. I barely have time to get a third of the trophies required for the games i already own, so I’m happy that this isn’t something I’ll have to worry about with Street Fighter….yet.

So in short, trophies are great if you’ve got the time to get them all, but if you’re not picking this game up because it lacks trophy support then you’re missing out on a ton of fun.

122

IceCold  |  November 20th, 2008 at 2:03 pm

This is SF HD WE MUST HAVE TROPHIES!!! No excuse. Please confirm them soon.

123

Spurs2120  |  November 20th, 2008 at 2:09 pm

How soon can we expect Trophies?

124

mdo7  |  November 20th, 2008 at 2:12 pm

This is so cool. I remember playing Street Fighter 2 on my SNES when I was 8 years old. Thanks Capcom for reviving my childhood by remaking and including the original (well, the SNES music won’t be in it). But I think you have bring back every people’s childhood by remaking this game. Nice choice of music for the trailers, reminds me of The Karate Kids.

Udon, I respect your comic and licensing the Street Fighter manga and Onimusha manga. I think you guys should realy enter the manga business like try to rival Tokyopop, Del-Rey, and Viz Media. you should try picking up some manga, like the manga that was used to be license by broccoli Book. Broccoli Book has reported it’s going to shut down manga business and I think you guys should pick up those manga (Disgaea, Di Gi Charat, kamui, Sola, and other manga that was licensed by Broccoli International). I’m a fan of your Street Fighter manga, I think you guys should make your own Manga, or OEL manga. Udon, Please save those Manga that Broccoli owned, it’s going to be lost. I’m a big fan of Street Fighters, and manga. Don’t let these manga be gone forever.

gardea  |  November 20th, 2008 at 2:27 pm

Finally!
I hope you guys do release a patch for trophies soon, but I’m still getting this game with or without trophies.

$15 is a little pricey but better than the $80 my brother spent on The New Challengers back when it came out… :)

129

Johnny5-1985  |  November 20th, 2008 at 2:27 pm

Any plans of bring an remade version of MegaMan X to the PSN?

130

psyXcho  |  November 20th, 2008 at 2:28 pm

I won’t be buying it too expensive for my blood but to all those who say no trophies no buy…

try playing this game on the 360 d-pad… that alone is worth the ps3 purchase.

131

se7enthsign-psn  |  November 20th, 2008 at 2:29 pm

If you are incapable of playing a game without some sort of fake reward or acheivement, you need to get a 360 and quit blaming Capcom for Sony’s mistakes.

It wasn’t Capcom’s fault that Sony waited until a year into the PS3’s lifecycle to implement something that probably should have been there on day one.

In any case, trophy support will be mandatory by this time next year.

At last!

The season of Street Fighter is upon us all!

All I can say is “Took you guys long enough” XD! Wonder if Capcom planned to release it this close to Street Fighter IV.

First SFA on my PSP, and now Super Turbo on my PS3. Now if you guys could just get 3rd Strike & Marvel vs Capcom 2 on PSN, I’d be ever so greatful.

sweet ya finally said the price i was getting worry there for a min
but will there a patch for trophy soon

144

clupula668  |  November 20th, 2008 at 3:17 pm

Not into rap, so the soundtrack doesn’t mean much to me, but it’s still nice for people who like that sort of thing.

Will, most likely, pick this up next Tuesday. $15 isn’t that bad, although $10 would’ve been better. The one thing about trophy support is that, with a fighting game, I don’t mind so much it coming later, as it’s not like playing through the whole game won’t take me only 15 or 20 minutes or so with an individual character. If they come, it’ll be a nice bonus. If not, I’ll still have the game.

I do think, however, that putting some of the PSP titles on the PSN is a good idea, as not all of us play portable games. I’d gladly pay for the Ghosts n’ Goblins game or the Megaman PSP games.

While I’m at it, let me float an idea at ya…Just sayin’…Roll it around in your head. Mention it over the water cooler at Capcom…

Make Resident Evil 0 and the Resident Evil Gamecube remake into PSN games. I mean, Siren: Blood Curse is already 9 gig, so it’s not like there isn’t a precedent for larger games on the network. It’d make you guys some extra cash and make us really happy. Just a thought. Do with it what you will…

145

lokar82  |  November 20th, 2008 at 3:22 pm

While the no trophies part is lame, let’s give Capcom credit for implementing voice chat which is something still not seen everywhere. I will wait to hear how the online is before I buy this, I bought Mortal Kombat 2 to play versus my brother but the lag for that is pretty bad.

146

MarkMan  |  November 20th, 2008 at 3:24 pm

Thursday is Thanksgiving, so the store update is Tuesday, this week.

Sakimori_X  |  November 20th, 2008 at 3:38 pm

Okay, I’ve been thinking all day (I know!) about what the upcoming ”little” announcement might be. I know a lot of us immediately assumed it would be LBP-related content, but now it occurs to me the ”little” might also mean ”chibi”, in which case the announcement would have to be about Puzzle Fighter (not likely) or… (wait for it)… POCKET FIGHTER!

Anyways, just a thought. Couldn’t resist adding fuel to the ever-burning fire of rampant fan speculation.
