We have kept quiet for a while, but we bring you good news today. The world of echochrome expands again!

Inspired by the artistic works of M.C. Escher, echochrome with its’ minimalist black and white graphics plays with your imagination. Echochrome plays with your mind. Its’ deceiving artwork delivers mind-bending puzzle solving. It also includes a custom level editor allowing the players to make and trade their own stages amongst friends, or even submit to the developer.

Now that we’ve refreshed your memory on echochrome, it’s time to deliver the good news! We know many of you have been asking for Trophy support. Well… echochrome will receive an update patch effective today.

Yes, that’s right.

The update patch for echochrome includes the long awaited trophy support. YAY! This is a great reason for many of you who already have echochrome to go back and play, and for those of you who haven’t picked it up yet? Now is the time!

Players are rewarded trophies for clearing a number of stages, or even for the total number of footsteps or falls! It’s a great time and reason to experience the world of echochrome and give your mind a little pinch. Can you collect all of the trophies? Bragging rights!

In addition to the trophy support, remember how we rolled out the user-generated stages 10 at a time? From this update forward, we are making a total of 1,000 user-generated stages available for gameplay.

Yes, that’s right. ONE THOUSAND STAGES!!!

If you think you can create a level that’s better, we’d love to see it! Don’t hesitate to upload!

Now, to play these 1000 user-created levels, just go to “Freeform” and start playing, and the levels will come up at random as you play. I’m sure you will enjoy a great range of creativity collected from various players and locations worldwide.

Last but not least, we have now enabled the screenshot function as well. Again, a useful tool to enhance your bragging rights!

As a token of appreciation, we have put a video together, introducing all of the 1,000 stages that will be made available in this update. I’m sure you will love it!

For some closing words, I have yet again, a message for you from Suzuki-san, the Producer of this title at JAPAN Studios.

Hello beloved fans of echochrome.

The development team and I are very happy with all of the positive feedback we are receiving from various parts of the world. Until recently, our way of collecting your views or thoughts was based on websites, questionnaires or blog posts such as this one (which is fine!). However the stage upload feature in echochrome delivers your passion to us in a unique way.

The total count for stage uploads worldwide have now exceeded 3,700 (submitted from 33 different countries and 1664 unique users). We have done the honors of selecting a total of 1,000 user generated stages to be made available with this update patch, to everyone else. The stages are the crystals of our users’ creativity and variety, often surprising us and sometimes even an eye-opener from a development point of view.

For the reasons mentioned above, we are on another mission to create a second update patch to further enhance the echochrome experience. We have enjoyed the activities surrounding the user-generated content, and would love to see more.

The Japanese title for echochrome is “Mugen Kairou”, translation? “Infinite Corridor”. As the name suggests, your combined creativity is infinite, and it helps fuel our motives for development. We are enjoying this relationship with our users, and would like to take this as far as we possibly can.

Thank you.

Hey, did you hear (or see, rather) that? Yes, there is another update coming!!! Can’t tell you when at this point, but there are some more interesting features coming your way! In the meantime, we hope you will enjoy the added features to echochrome. I’m sure this will keep you busy for a while!

For those of you who have not yet played the game, it’s available for $9.99 on the PlayStation Network Store. We also have a demo for you, if you are not sure. You’ve got nothing to lose!

For $9.99, it’s a bargain if you ask me! It’s great for kids and grown-ups too!

Thanks for reading!
Tsubasa

  • Pawlom, by doing individual levels by means of A1, A2, A3 and so on?? cause i’ve tried that. is there a time limit on them?? but i’ll try it again =)

  • Yes, I did the courses (which for example will make you do all of A one after the other) then I went back and selected each level (A1, A2, etc…). Once I completed each level separately I got the Half the Journey trophy.

The only time limit I know of is the 5 minutes for each level. I don’t know if there is a combined limit for the trophy. I would imagine if there was, it would be mentioned in the trophy description.

  • Tsubasa, I got the trophies to work, but I had to play the stages individually, which kind of threw me off. Oh well, I should have figured that one out earlier. Anyway, thanks for the help.

  • I just 100% it, and am ranked 7th in for coarse F (the only one I broke top ten in, but close on two others). To everyone, good luck with the final 2 coarses, they are frustratingly hard, but a great sense of accomplishment.

  • Alright, so that was the problem…i was doing courses and not individual stages…well glad i got it now

  • Hi Tsubasa,

I have been reading this Playstation blog for half a year now but only today did I feel compelled to go to the lengths of registering so that I can post a comment.

First, I want to say I appreciate the trophy patch. Better late than never. And trophies certainly add to the replay value for any game. I purchased this game this past spring but have only completed around 8 levels but I will try to finish them all now.

I also want to voice that in-game custom music would be very much appreciated. It is a very very important feature, and don’t feel it will detract from the echochrome experience. The current music is great too but it gets repetitive.

In regards to the trophy patch, please let us know what we need to do specifically to get the trophies. Do we have to delete our save data? Re-install the game? No need for that, simply play each stage again? Or is it courses? Please be specific.

Lastly, I tried to play the game today and my PS3 completely froze after I clicked on echochrome. I could not even turn it off with the front Power button, and had to use the switch in the back. Please look into this possible bug. Thanks.

  • I managed to get a couple of trophies and I must say I’m a teeny bit disappointed.

All of the trophy icons look the same? You couldn’t come up with 10 individual icons? Most PSN games have unique looking trophies. Like for instance “Flyin’ high” could have been an image of the jump pad or “echochrome” could have been an image of a stage shaped as the number 100. Maybe this could be changed in a future update?

Anyway…. that youtube replay upload idea sounds nice. Maybe then I’d be able to complete each of the levels lol :p

  • Hello everyone.

It seems the problem resided in the lack of clarify regarding whether the trophies were for completion in the “stages” mode, or with the “course” mode.

    I apologize for that.
This is something we definitely need to look into for the future. (I’ll take note of the individual designs for the icons as well)

I would also like to thank the readers who helped each other out over the weekend.

Here’s some clarification on the trophies and how to get them.

Complete all “stages” in A to D: Half the journey

Complete all “stages” in A to G: Traversal

Complete “courses” A to G: Total Traversal

Fall 100 times while playing stages: Rock bottom

Leap 100 times while playing stages: Flyin’ high

Take 10,000 steps while playing stages: Take a hike

    Collect 500 echoes: Shadow

Complete 100 stages in any mode: echochrome

    Upload 5 stages: Gimme five

    Collect all trophies: echochrome master

    Hope this helps!

Thanks again for your patience everyone!
    Tsubasa

  • Sweet I made it on the Video… it took me Forever to find it but after a million fast clicks I see it 8)

    By: Skater_Ricky

Its Located near the Middle of the Video but toward the beginning part tho… I would there was a program I could copy this video I can play it in slow motion :(

    I believe it’s in the 300 range.

  • When comes the Trophy Patch for the EU Version. Pleeeeaaaase I need it !!!

  • I’m having an issue playing for the A-D trophy too. I had A and most of B done when the trophy patch came down. So I deleted my game save and started over. I did all stages from A-D and all courses A-D afterwards. I didn’t get the trophy. If I don’t delete my savefile, can I then just go back and play each stage again, will I get the trophy?

  • I love this game. I find the application to generate stages very difficult. Is there a way to simplify it? Also, it would be interesting to be able to see the world record for the accomplishment of each stages so we can compare it with our own performance.

  • “I’ll take note of the individual designs for the icons as well.”

Great, that would be pretty awesome! :)

I must be one of the lucky ones since I never deleted my original game save and still received the A to D trophy no problem. That is a pretty weird glitch.

I notice the leaderboards are kind of strange in some cases? How can someone have cleared a course in 0 seconds?

  • Sorry, but no. I was honestly going to buy this game, then read about this update. I checked online to make sure, and my skepticism was correct…

    No patch for EU.

Sorry, but you’ve gone from an amazing update and potential purchase, to 0. Well, less money for you i guess.
