Hi PLAYSTATION 3 community,
I am so very happy to announce that PlayStation Home has now officially entered into Open Beta. Restart your PLAYSTATION 3, and you will see the PlayStation Home icon under the PlayStation Network column of the XMB. Click on the icon, and you are in.
Getting to this point has required a tremendous amount of participation, input, care, and passion from the thousands of beta testers who helped make PlayStation Home what it is today. So to all of you that have tested, from all of us on the PlayStation Home team here at Sony: “Thank You!”
For those of you that are new to PlayStation Home, be sure to plug in a USB keyboard (or pair your Bluetooth headset) and start meeting your fellow PS3 owners. And remember, even with all the spaces, rewards, items, and activities available today, what you see now is just the beginning. Home will grow, change, and evolve very quickly – and it is all based on your feedback.
This is your community, and we are listening.
wow it really seems like some of you idiots don’t know the meaning of BETA…. Sony just opened the flood gates on a FREE service. It sucks that it’s happening but at least it’s not like xbox live crashing for multiple days earlier this year. Some people need to pull their panties out of their crack and learn when to shut up.
BTW Sony way to actually acknowledge the problem, that you can be faulted for at least….
for all of you that dont get the playstation home logo in the xmb, here is your answer: you have to delete all of the game’s, demo’s, add-on’s, etc…from your download management, so you are not downloading anything. when i did that, the playstation home logo appeared in the xmb, i didnt even have to turn off the system. it took me a while to figure this out

I know the meaning of the word Beta. I’ve been a programmer longer than most of you have been around. A beta means you are very close to the final, and give the product out to be tested to remove some minor bugs.
99% of the users not being able to log in is NOT a minor bug. It’s an insult to the PS3 owners who have patiently waited for a promised feature to be released, and we are now getting tired of the excuses.
Having been in the private beta, to me it seems nothing more than second life without gambling, sex, and the ability to create and/or sell your own items. Sony and the various sponsored companies will be the ones microselling virtual crap for your virtual houses, virtual clothing and other virtual product placements.
Original? Maybe for a console, but then again, it’s much easier to program when you know what hardware everyone will be using than for the millions of kinds of PCs out there that Second Life or any MMORG has to deal with.
I’d much rather wait longer for a true beta, than a rushed alpha that I can’t even log into.
I finally got it working, and let me tell you it’s amazing. Well worth the wait. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks again Sony!

I’m not mad just a little sarcastic, As Happy said “WHY DON’T YOU JUST GO HOME BALL?” I guess the ball can’t login in either, lol. We should all try to get on the playstation store at the same time and crash that too. Oh well guess I’ll try again tommarrow.
I can’t get it to work. Maybe Sony should try again with this Beta release when it works…

ok so i finally got past the C-931 network error thing and i made my character after that i went to go to the plaza or whatever it was called and it said i was not old enough im over the age requirement please fix this problem playstation.
are you using a master or subaccount?

U NEVER TOLD US OR GAVE US ANY HINTS THAT WE WOULD BE ABLE 2BUY ITEMS 4FREE 4 THE TIME BEING B4 THE OPEN BETA WAS LAUNCHED ON DEC 11. ITS NOT FARE THAT ANYBODY THAT WAS NOT ON HOME YESTERDAY, IS NOW BEING CHARGED 2 PERCHES NEW ITEMS. SOME OF US WORK, ARE IN SCHOOL AND HAVE THINGS 2DO. THis is great excepy we need more clothing options that are FREE,even if u cant give us more free clothing please allow for diffirent colors so it looks like we all have diffirent shirts.

The face features creator is great but everything else lack material there need to be more options for hair and face shape and more items to wear like rings and caps that go aver ur hair and dont change ur actual hair cut.P.S Some fancy white and black suits for parties in home
You guys are realy clue less the reasons we got errors is becouse there was too much people in the game and now theres no errors becouse almost every one is leaving to go to sleep so tommarow wake up early and play home early so you dont have to wait at night to wait for them to go to sleep
