Sony Computer Entertainment will conduct system maintenance for PlayStation Home on Thursday, December 18, 2008. At this time PlayStation Home will be updated from ver. 1.03 to 1.04. The system maintenance is scheduled to start at 12 midnight (PST), and the service is expected to resume in approximately 6 hours but may change depending on the circumstances. PlayStation Home will be unavailable during the maintenance window.
The reason for this maintenance is to ease the difficulty some people are having accessing PlayStation Home due to the high demand for the service.
Additionally, as part of version 1.04, the voice chat feature within PlayStation Home will be temporarily suspended. As soon as we are ready to resume the voice chat feature, we will inform you via PlayStation.com and PlayStation.Blog. In the meantime, we encourage users to make use of the Wireless Keypad for PLAYSTATION 3 or any USB or Bluetooth-enabled keyboard for text chat and also the “phone friend” features to communicate within PlayStation Home.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and kindly ask for your understanding.

downloaded version 1.04 still can’t log into home. Prior to 1.04 update I got Error (603) now I get Error (D5027)

Glad home is getting upgraded and hopefully the will add a few more things to keep people entertained. and a few more freebie furniture items for my home :-( the sofa isn;’t comfy for sleeping on :-( and a tv would be nice :-)

@68 ok if you have a u s account then you have home on your ps3 then i dont think it a sony problem but maybe your country problem they may have ban sony from useing home or psn there . you may want to asked someone there who know the law there or call sony i dont think your problem is a easy one . just keeo useing your u s account and meet new friends and tell your old friends your u s account name so they can make new account untill you find out why your country dont have home or psn .
I am kind of glad the voice chat is gone for a while. I was sick of hearing people cursing and making racist remarks. There should only be a group voice chat among friends. For example the ability to hear only people that are on your friends list.
Home will get better with time I am sure, but what I really want is more PS3 game related features. Hopefully those will come soon.
I didnt have a mic but would like to see mic support come back. I can totally understand its removal for now though. It was getting BAD in there and can understand Sonys desire to keep home as age friendly as possible. It seems pretty senseless to censor certain words (some of which dont seem they should be like “loser”) and allow people to speak things 10x worse. We dont want Home to turn into every other sex controlled online community.

just wanting to know if anyone has had the login problem stating “you are not old enough to access playstation home”? this is getting frustrating and i have emailed sony about it but havent got a reply. (btw i am 28)

Thats stupid instead of having a 6 hour maintenance to take away mic chat why not have a update so that people playing pool actually have a pool stick instead of just standing there.also need to have a tattoo option in customization and ive done got a trophy on ice breaker 3 times but i everytime i log in my trophy and clothes are gone.

I don’t know why so many like using the voice chat so much. It’s really quit annoying to me (especially those who find the need to share their music with everyone, go do that in your own apartment), I keep my voice chatting off and just use a keyboard.

I dont know if thats u guys that home i still down, or its me… but i dnt tink its me because before i updated it worked just fne. And its 11:15 am in here, Puerto Rico, i dont think that 6 hous have not passed since the 12am -.- . I think they should make a request to speak feature – so everyone you are not friends with will not be heard unless they come up to you and request to speak to you then if you hit it off you can add them to you friend list – and then all your friends will be able to be heard when they speak to you
Sony doesn’t have the corporate courage to deliver a really great HOME. They’re too scared they’ll offend someone, or that they’ll let people do stuff that might offend others.
They’ll continue to restrict or disable features. And in the end, they’ll deliver a watered-down, neutered version that only appeals to Sunday-afternoon-stroll-in-the-park types.
ok sony… i know this home thing is free and all but.. that DOES NOOOOTTT MEAN that yo can make a piece of crap and get on with it… I tell you sony, START LOOKING at the words: socialize and interact. Those are the things that home was meant to be, and you are ruining yourselves up. I know of al the vulgarities and stuff that happen in voice chat and user generated things, but you have to see the whole picture, if you get those things out, you REALLY might fnd urselves not needing to control any more abusers or vulgarities, as everyone will stop using home because they prefer myspace or facebook because they can REALLY intercact in there and share experiences (yes, photos and videos). The voice chat is only temporarily suspended. People have no patience these days and are quick to jump on the “I hate you for not having everything ready for me yesterday” bandwagon.
1 step at a time, but please dont remove this for much long, its seams everything is removed from Home these days.

What about a screen grab feature from the ‘select’ menu? It would be a good way to handle those who try to ruin the Home experience for others.

PS Home is for dancing! LOL! There’s really not much to do in Home at all. During the close beta I didn’t really mind but, it’s still the same thing in the open beta. It’s basically a virtual chat room at this point.

What exe or manager of HOME said “hey, lets kill voice chat and point and laugh at our users”. Again, SCEA/SCEE/SCEI you keep constantly dropping the ball, no wonder why users and critics are fed up with your tactics as of late.
At least, AT LEAST tell us why and how long we will be without, not this “until further notice” crap. I for one don’t have a bluetooth enable keyboard and I’m not gonna go out and spend game money or gas money or bill money (especially in a recession… you know, you’re about to cut 16,000 jobs) on a chatpad.

The people who are “attracted” to female avatars in a video game and can not resist the urge to run over and harass them are anything BUT “men”.
Hopefully, Sony finds an effective way of getting rid of these people before bringing voice chat back. The constant harassment of women and racist behavior is ruining the experience for others.
I don’t care about voice chat, but what I do care about is LOSING EVERY SINGLE ITEM I’VE UNLOCKED. This is ridiculous. The time spent getting the echochrome, ice breaker and Namco unlockables was just a big waste of my time now, wasn’t it?
Oh, but there are plenty of new items I can purchase in the store though. F-that!

@MrDuran, the reason people need to share their music is because Home is abnormally quiet and sterile. It is not fun and people are desperate to liven it up by any means possible. The epitome of pathetic is people dancing to ads because there is a glaring lack of sound. I saw a cool little party in the Japanese Home where someone was playing music through their mike and others were dancing and chatting.
Sony, I applaud the effort and work you are doing in Home.
But, I got a PROBLEM.
After downloading 1.04, I lost everything in my home, everything in my clubhouse, and my avatar lost his clothes.
What is the point of resetting everything I worked so hard to do. (setting up couches, storage, getting it organized.)
I would just like a statment on this, and why everything from the Namco Beta was taken away from me.

yea, all my things are gone. I dont have anything I got from the Namco museum and have none of the items i unlocked from playing echochrome and ice breakers…eventhough i still have the saves that show me with the clothing on…This better just be temporary
Sony hasn’t said why they temporarily removed the voice chat, keep that in mind. It could be clogging up the servers or complicating things. I would be shocked if they hadn’t considered people being vulgar on voice chat, especially after all of the closed-beta testing they’ve already done. I strongly doubt it just started with the open beta.
How about including day and night cycles in Home? It’s weird for it to be night and Home always be sunny…also there should be a way to play the arcade games without having to wait in line. I know it kinda recreates the feeling of being on a real arcade but the truth is that the games available right now aren’t worth the wait (except echocrome but no one plays that one). I could just go online and play the same games without having to wait.
It would also be good if you could alter the emotion of your characters like in LBP. As it right now everyone has a creepy robotic look (perfectly recreated in that penny arcade comic strip http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/12/12/). It would be great if you “stoled” that idea from MM.
Talking about MM…I think LBP’s pod should’ve been Home…change the xmb to the pod and invite your friends to it…watch tv or listen to music together…that would’ve been great. But still I think the route you’ve taken has potential…just don’t focus so much on the marketing side and try to make it enjoyable for the users and you should be fine. Once it’s enjoyable and the people are hooked then you can focus on marketing since you’ll have a healthy user base.
You also removed my unlocked clothing and items including my complete Echochrome outfit, my Icebreaker stuff, and my NAMCO arcade items (every single one of them).
What a POS Sony is turning out to be with the LBP fiasco, SOCOM, and now HOME. Release STUFF THAT WORKS. EMBARRASSING. You *DESERVE* third place this generation!
Home development should be given to a division that actually knows how to develop software for the console.
