  • Here’s to hoping for a smooth update. And keep them coming!

  • PSN stuff is up

  • @drepsx3
I really doubt it would be possible to do in-game XMB on the PSP as it only has 32/64 MB of RAM. And if they could do it with 64 MB and only did it for the PSP 2000/3000 (the PSP-1000 has 32MB), you know everyone would be [DELETED] about it.

  • Test.

    :)

  • Is it showing your PSN or old blog name?

  • These kind of lame updates are the reason so many users don’t bother with OFW.

  • Anyone know of a good CHESS game for the PSP?

I love my PSP, use it everyday: to check e-mail, play the occasional game, and browse Facebook…but I just wish it had a few integrated apps.

It would be nice to have:

    A built-in calendar/appointment scheduler.
    A built-in calculator.
    DivX support.
    Flash 8,9 or 10 support.

  • so what can i say

  • Updates are always a good thing

  • So, yeah I got the Yellow Light of Death three weeks after my warranty ran out. Yes, I’ll pay the $150 for another one but WTF. 13 month YLOD… At least Microsoft has a lifetime warranty on its Red Ring of Death… Maybe I’ll take that $150 and put it toward a 360…

  • The dude at EB games who sold me this PSP last week said if I update it I can’t play any of my emulators, music programs, or amy of the other he sold me for it.
no thanks. I think I’ll keep my PSP just the way it is.

  • Nice.

  • I thought we’d be using our PSN names from now on with the PSN login?

I’m using my PSN account, but it still has my PSBlog username.

  • Just testing the blog update.

  • First of all…you don’t have to update your psp. Second, Sony is not going to add any more functionality to it because there’s too many pirates out there. Why should they add function when they’re losing money to game sales. If anything, they will be going to digital distribution for the psp and selling the game cheaper online. Even then it might not help them any with the bad economy. The psp is expensive to make and games are too expensive to be on handheld. They have to get the games cheaper or people will just be using it for emulators, playing movies or whatever…not playing with paid for video games. Of course it’s in their interest to cut off any mods out there. If you got custom firmware…good for you, don’t [DELETED] to sony about functionality and more stuff because you’re not paying for anything. I did not get a psp for a veery long time because I just didn’t think the game were worth its asking price.

  • What about the PS3.

  • Thanks Eric for the security update. Can you let us know when we can expect to see the video download service on PSP.

  • first post on the new blog system for me!!

  • I’d like to see the option to create an icon for a video file, similar to the PS3, but a still image rather than an animated one.

  • Thanks for supporting the PSP, but give us new features!
    – ingame screenshot function
    – voice chat crosstalk to PS3
    – PSN friendlist
    – FLASH 9 Support
    – Bigger Browser Cache (outsourcing to the memory stick)

  • sweet an update is always welcome

  • ok I’m loving the integration and all the new feaures. all I’m looking for now is the ability to message my friends when I’m at a PC and the inbox notification as well as a sound when you get a message.

  • we want ingame chat for ps3

  • Great feature, will the Photo gallery be able to access photo’s via a media server?

  • I’ll be honest, I’m just grateful to see the update to divx. The added photo gallery is a nice bonus. My PS3 is used more often as a media machine (Hulu, watching sport, movies) as a gaming system so this is great news.

  • meanwhile, now, as of today..you cannot log into the playstation store via your PSP..it tells you that you need to update your software (i am running 5.02)..

when will this 5.03 be released? how long can we expect to wait to gain access to Pstation store via PSP…

  • I CAN`T WAIT FOR THE NEW UPDATE OR PSP. WHAT NEW FEATURES COME WITH IT.

  • Having access to my friends lists and messaging them will be nice. This is a long shot but how about having PSP trophies will be great the first handheld that have trophies. And add up to the overall total with the PS3 trophies

  • SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

  • Nothing new?

  • Yeah I can log in. :)

p.s what does everyone think of our UNOFFICIAL European Playstation Blog?

    http://www.ps3blog.eu.com

  • id like to see teh ability to plya psp games at full screen, even if there is a little video loss. Or the ability to connect my psp to ps3 to play the games threw that.

Better yet sony, you should come out with software allowing us to rip and transfur our psp games to our ps3 to play on

  • It’s nice to see that the PSP isn’t all forgotten, but could you guys over at Playstation create something of a more useful update.

There is so much potential in the PSP, so please do utilize it!!!

Possible Ideas: simple but fun online sites directed at the PSP, wallpapers, demos, and MORE GAMES.

  • Thanks for the heads up. Will ignore future security updates until additional features/functionality are also part of the “update”. Here are some ideas since your developers seem to be at a loss: Allow the straming of DVD and BlueRay from the PS3 to PSP, Flash Support, DivX Codec and External Thumb-Keyboard support. Thanks.

  • i would love if the psp can play Youtube videos and also to have Sign in friend list like the Ps3 it already have Go! messenger but no one uses it cause they are busy playing games.

  • I love the idea with the photos and thank you for the DivX update, i would love to see more XMB features for the ps3 like xmb in game voice chat for example..and PSN network improvements maybe?

  • I would like some new avatars cus i’ve been using the same one for year.

  • It’s pretty darned sad to see absolutely no replies to the 194 comments. Why the cold shoulder, Sony?

  • Sadly. This update don’t interest me.I dont use my PS3 for Photos,Not do I watch old video’s that require Divx 3.11. Everyone wants In-game Voice chat and invites,Why beat around the bush with this feature for so long,Either tell us ya’ll are working on it or ya’ll are not working on it,Thats unless you like being bombarded with the same request EVERY SINGLE post about a firmware update (PS3 or PSP) or if you just like pissing in everyones cornflakes and just giving people reasons to bash ya’ll.But anyways.Looking forward to Killzone 2 next month

  • WPA2 – AES encryption please

  • @183

What do you mean as of today. I can get on Playstation Network just fine, even after the update ,sure its just not your psp or its version.

Also you guys do know some of the features your mention isnt even possible. Chat for psp to ps3 thats impossible, first they would have to make a server for it, then they would have to program and lessen the mb for the funtion, in order to not go over the psp system limit.

  • can you guy make an update with new features in it and add security WITH it instead of alone

  • thanks for the update, i was looking for something more but thanks anyway.

  • Where is the PS3 update?

  • this is an ok update.. not as good as the PS3 one though but fairly good

  • >> If you guys actually released some good PSP games people wouldn’t be worried about hacking thier PSPs and you wouldn’t have to worry about “security patches.”

More like if they gave us an application to rip our store-bought CD-ROMS of PSX games and put them on our PSP without shoddy firmware juggling and they JUST WORKED they wouldn’t have to worry about CFW.

Oh, wait, some people also want to run their GBA/GBC/GB games on the PSP instead of carrying a GBA around. Silly me.

  • FIX shuffling and playlisting across subfolders please. It’s been broken since forever.
