Thanks for the update, and thanks for telling us about it, Eric. Even though it doesn’t really include anything.
I’m not usually one to say things i want in firmware updates. But something i would really like for PSP is the PSN friends list. We already have the store, and this would help integrate the two platforms. it would also be pretty awesome.
Anyway, thanks Eric. And the crew that make the firmware updates :)

You can already put the PS3 in a sleep mode while things are downloading. All you have to do is once you have all your downloads in the que you then go to User’s > Turn Off System & then check the option “Turn off System Automatically After Background Download” then choose yes and everything will download then your PS3 will shutdown after it’s done.
Sony fails yet again to entice users with useful updates and instead tries to shut down its best features!
I have a hacked PSP Slim and it’s the best gaming system I’ve ever owned, I can do whatever I want with it!

If you guys want to use playstation store on the psp, you might as well update. I tried to log on and It said that I needed to update. (I’m using PSP-1001).
So I guess its nothing too important.
Dark_Alex will find away around every security patch. In Fact Datel had a way to put the PSP-3000 into service mode but they got sued and had to change the way the battery works. So the PSP-3000 is hackable its just that SOOOOOOOOOOOONY wants to keep it so you cant have CFW on it. its so bull. maybe sony should make so you can run homebrewed stuff again. then ppl will like the PSP. most ppl want to be able to play emulators on it. thats why they get a PSP slim or the PSP phat. To play emulators. I tell all my friends to Get the Slim or Phat to get CFW and i have a way better time using it then when i didnt have CFW. Not for the games but for the sweet themes that i have and some of the emulators that i have.
my nephew gave a me a psp slim, but the games or movies will not work. what could possible be the problem? does it have anything to do with the update?

Way to tell it to the developers on a OF Playstation Site not ,for one think about your pirating roms for nintnedo and microsoft and sony themselves if they added homebrew then nothing will ever be bought, then the developers would stop making psp games. Thats why sony bans hombrew.2 Nintendo and microft would sue sony for allowing homebrew/roms of their games.
I actually know of a way to end piracy on psp which I’ll do when I work for sony.
Well I just downloaded the new v5.03 update. The update 5.02 said it was for better features towards the playstation store but it also put in a full keyboard when browsing the interent etc. So does anyone know whether or not of any better features with v5.03. I’m sure it will take some time for everyone to figure it out.
When are you going to add the friends list to the PSP? Release more PS3 updates with cross game voice chat!
Does anybody know of a list of routers that work perfectly with remote start for the PS3? Mine does not and I’ve tried everyone’s different suggestions. I think this is a great feature and a major reason I bought the PSP.
I was curious what ever happened with the release of the psp GPS for 2008? early last year there was alot of talk about it. Then things seemed to have just gone dead. Is it still coming? I can’t find any news about it anywhere!

i wonder what this update is about *caugh* GRIP SHIFT HACK ON 3000 *caugh* .cmon in game music i dont want 2 get my warranty voided with homebrew apps and or format it cmon sony ive seen it happen with the homebrew now its ur turn cmon we kno the PSP has more pontential and seen it 2 even youtube on PSP just use the ms PRO 4 memmory or put flash player on the ms PRO also the photo app froze my PS3 just 2 let u kno :(
also sony DAX will probaby find a way i just recommend 2 make a program which only the program would b able 2 decode the PSP and also put a firewall like on a computer

Talk about oblivious. Thanking Sony for disabling all of the features that make the PSP worthwhile (IE, homebrew) is like seeing a guy pickpocket your keys and cheering him as he runs away.
DO NOT install this firmware if you ever want to hack your PSP-3000 or late model PSP-2000s.

No one’s having problems? I am. First, PS store does not any longer recognize how much space is available on my SMS card. I have 609MB free and attempted to d’load a 321MB game and keep getting an “insufficient memory” message. AND now when I plug in my USB cable, the PSP crashes my PC! None of this was happening 2 days ago before I d’loaded 5.03!

come on now a nother pointless update, it took that long to do this, come on we need the buddies list because my dad tried to add me on his ps3 and i told him i didnt have a buddies list yet and he said oh that sucks and i was like yea, i told him just wait till the next update, and you give us this

Why not just be honest and admit what the patch is intended for?
It’s tough to respect a company that continually misses deadlines…and flat out lies to their customers.

There are a few things I want for my PS3:
1) GPS attachment – North America maps are now available for Europeans with this. Portable Ops came with built-in GPS functionality. And we have a lot of roads in the US. Plus, there could even be an official PlayStation Community Geocaching site.
2) PDA/Organizer functionality – everything is there to do this on the hardware side. You could even use Media Manager type software to allow us to sync it with our PC. Of course, a proper onscreen QWERTY keyboard would help.
3) E-book reader software – Sony already makes this in a device. Then sell the E-Books in the PSN Store.
4) Audible.com functionality – I noticed PSP strangely missing from their device list. Not helping me move away from my iPod there guys.
5) Digital Copy/Portable Copy for movies – So The Incredible Hulk and Horton Hears a Who blu-rays both came with Digital Copy. It has compatibility with iPod and Windows Media. I though I would be able to copy Blu-Rays to my PSP for a portable version. Even if it is this Digital Copy thing through Media Manager I am fine with that. Just something, please.

I kind of agree, you should be able to have friends on the PSP and screenshots at least in games would be pretty cool. I would also like to be able to play your own music in any game, not just in th menus on EA games.

This means its talking about the gripshift thing. System software stability, which implied it was talking about the hack also the features which the gamesave thing.
I’m rather disappionted. I was very impressed with the psp when it first came out but not so much now.

if the next update doesn’t do anything besides cover your behind I’m gonna buy a pandoras battery and actually get some use out of my psp.
Here’s what I would like o see (and what’s really needed) to make the PSP cool again
1) More Third Party apps
– Pandora
– YouTube (long overdue)
2) Divx Support
3) Improved Web Browser (flash support)
4) Improved Music interface (better album artwork display ..full screen) .
If my phone can give a full html experiece there is no reason why the PSP can’t. Just give us a real upgrade please….
i think i that sony should improve there web browser , they should use something like firefox , this would make browsing the internet a breeze. insted of that crapy thing that can not view anything but css threds.. atleast firefox is totaly free.

hi there anyone know what game has the 4.00 or the 5.00 update i have trouble doing it threw the computer me have window vista and it wont let me do it and cant get my internet to work on my psp i have wifi at home but know luck so basic need help on two things hope to hear form anyone …psp rocks .. me ot the 2001 daxter edtion..
just a question.. my nephew modified the psp, and i was able to put a game on there, but for some reason, when i press “start” it goes straight to the white screen and stays that way… i never get a chance to play the game.. it shows on the psp that the game is saved, but it just stays on the white screen.. can someone help me? i dont know much about video games..

I downloaded the new version yesterday and it had no new features.But it those make my PSP run a little faster.But seriouly.On the next update,please put connectivity to the PS3 online and friends list,as soon as you can,put PSP home and trophies later on.Cause i wanna connect with Zeus301 a.k.a. The PS3 v2.60 update was released a few minutes ago. I agree, where are the features! I know security is important but, there is no record of any attacks on the PSP system so, how about some remote play from the PSP, streaming with Mac and PC support, or DivX playback.
