Noby Noby Boy Meets Pac-Man

146 0

I have to say it’s kind of scary that the game has released. You may find it fun or you may be disappointed. I hope you enjoy it, and I’m ready for any of your comments.

Anyway, has anyone looked at the Pac-Man and Noby Noby Boy commemorative banner that released today on the PlayStation Store? Those who have already played the game may have seen it. This photo was taken on January 1st when I came in to work to fix bugs.

Noby Noby Boy meets Pac-Man

As you can easily imagine, there was no one in the office that day except for the security guards. I had a lot of fun freely taking pictures with Boy! I remember carrying him to the main entrance laughing and taking pictures of Boy wrapped around the Pac-Man statue. When I was planning on using this photo for the banner, I was told that Pac-Man stood out more and the picture made it look like it was a Pac-Man game. I just answered back saying, “Players may buy the game by mistaking it for a Pac-Man game! Wouldn’t it be nice?”

Anyway, I was very lucky to be a part of such a miraculous collaboration. I tried to have Boy in various poses to make for interesting pictures, even with a Daruma doll. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out well so I gave up.

Noby Noby Boy Daruma Doll

Daruma dolls are actually Japanese wish dolls. When your wish is fulfilled, you’re supposed to fill in the right eye, so we wished Noby Noby Boy would be released on the 19th. Speaking of the 19th, it was also the release date for Noby Noby Boy T-shirts. They were created by Panic Inc, the same vendor who did the Katamari ones. There will be four different designs with two variations for a total of eight types.

Noby Noby Boy T-Shirt

Above is one of the T-shirts. It’s an obvious Boy design, isn’t it? It would look cute on kids, but unfortunately there are no kid-sizes…maybe you could make a request to Panic Inc?

I didn’t talk anything about the game this time. Well, I’ll update sometime soon. Bye for now.

  • Simply the amount of enthusiasm you show for this game might force me to purchase Noby Noby Boy. . .

  • Nice pictures! I can’t wait for my 5 year old daughter to play Noby Noby Boy, I think that she will have fun. Thanks for making the game.

  • Still haven’t played it :p… I do want it though XD

  • Killzone 2 stole my money :p

  • bought the game and a shirt.

Fun little time-waster but I would have loved it if the different planet had more of a unique feeling like terrain deformation or something to distinguish itself from the other area besides having different size play area.

But man. it’s going to take a while before we get to Mars!!

But thanks for bringing the game to us. much appreciated.

  • @1, was that sarcasm? My impression from the post was that it was all very insignificant to him. ‘Ya like it? Ya disappointed? Whatever. I took some pictures. No time to talk about the game. Buy some shirts.’

  • I’ll buy this game when it comes on a disc.

  • Ah! I want a Noby and Katamari shirts :p
Takahashi-san your games are all fun and…interesting, I hope you keep creating more games like this! :)

  • I like the community aspect of it and the ability to reach the different bodies in space.

I hope to see more games from Keita Takahashi on the Playstation 3.

And how about some PS3 Katamari Damacy love? It’s been too long!

  • This game is awesome. I picked it up day one, cant be beat for 5 bucks.

I have let 3 friends play this also and everyone loves it.

  • LOL cool you are having fun hehehehehehehe

  • Why is the Prince so difficult to find….it’s getting annoying.

  • Sadly. We will never reach Mars.

  • I demand Noby Noby Boy avatars. :)

  • Can we have a demo of this game?

  • @15, it’s only five bucks. Splurge on yourself. :)

  • This game is awesome, I hope to see some more games from you, also I want a BOY avatar for the PSN, NOW!!!!!!

  • Gumby, the game is 360mb’s. To put it on a blu ray disc would waste 49.6 GB’S! Although I do think maybe a collaborative PSN Blu Ray Disc would be awesome. Although the cost would seem to be quite high.

Also I bought this game, I HATE IT BUT IT’S SO ADDICTING. Maybe I’m stupid but why not give us the ability to coop with our friends so we can go around eating people together?

  • I agree on that adding multiplayer would be just fantastic

  • I agree multiplayer would be awesome!

  • great post you basically said nothing xD reminds me of noby noby boy

  • To be honest the boys shirt don’t look all that manly-ish lol. I think it might be the pink at the end, although pink is in, on a design like that it’s girly pink.

  • So when can we actually buy some of this stuff: :-)

  • Noby Noby Boy was… is… ugh. It’s impossible to explain my feelings on the game. haha. Let’s just say it was well worth 5 bucks. :D

Not sure i would buy a shirt of it, you know… but hey, Maybe somebody else wants to.

Anyways. Keep up the great games. We Playstation fans have always liked you… Stick with us. ;)
Maybe make a full-fledged game beyond anybody’s thoughts and throw it on a disc. I’ll buy it. :D Keep it exclusive though… I try not to buy any multiplatform games due to the Dolby Digital audio and forgotten features (Sixaxis, trophies, home support, in-game invites, in-game music, screenshots, videos, youtube uploading, etc etc etc etc). So yeah… Thanks for a great game.

  • I love the game and all but you really need to add a point to the game. I love the fact you tried something experimental but it needs a goal.

    1. The game needs a point. Just stretching isn’t enough to keep people entertaining. The number of daily players (when I played last night) is verging on 5k. Possible “points” to the game:
    A. Stretch X amount of meters before moving automatically to the next map.
    B. Combine X amount of fruit-people or animal-people before moving to the next map.
    2. Multiplayer would be awesome
    A. Four players to a map would be ideal.
    B. Each players head and butt would be different colors to signify who is who.
    C.Stretching:
    – Co-op Mode: Everyone’s meters are totaled up and the host has the option at any time to submit it to GIRL.
    – Competitve Mode: Everyone stretches and the first one to reach X amount wins a piece of fruit or animal that they can then choose to combine with another player in the match.
    Voice chat is a must.
    3. The maps between planets need to be more varied with conditions specific to those planets.
    4. Unlocking new planets needs to bring more than just new items to eat and new maps. Perhaps objects specific to the planet.

  • Sounds like fun… in a spacey, Katamari sort of way. I’m still going to hesitate until I hear there’s an active community or there’s a promise to address some of the things other people have said (multiplayer).

  • Takahashi-san, I bought the game and I absolutely love it! It has all the charm of Katamari Damacy and I’ve played it daily to help GIRL grow. I’m in the top 100 ranked! However, I have a question that all players need an answer to!

Is the distance to Mars actually the same distance as the real Mars is from Earth? Unfortunately, as you’ve probably determined, it would take over a year for us to actually reach it at the rate BOYs are currently reporting. So I’m hoping you’ll let us all know that the NOBY NOBY BOY Mars is not actually so very very far away. Or at the very least, hint at some way to multiply our lengths to help move GIRL forward!

In any case, I hope this game sells enough to help you continue to make DLC. There’s a lot of potential here and I want to see you fulfill it!

  • Where can I get one of these plush Noby Noby Boy’s?!

Are you getting the hint yet?

  • this game is fun to play. i love having BOY eat various objects! the BOY plush looks awesome i would love to get my hands on him. plus we finally reached the MOON!!! i would get the shirt if it was striped like BOY when you stretch him. ^____^

  • Shut up, Gumbydunzeeto.

Are you getting the hint yet?

  • @6, no Swedgen, Keita Takahashi is Japanese (if you couldn’t deduce that by his name), and as such English is his second language. That said, I think he’s done a terrific job with this post and you’re missing the inflection behind his words, a common mistake when reading the typed word. It is, indeed, very difficult to discern the emotion behind someone but I can assure you, Takahashi-sama is certainly anything but unenthusiastic about Noby Noby Boy!

That said, it is a remarkable and profoundly odd masterpiece. It’s gripping for some unknown reason…perhaps the fact we as a world of gamers are working towards a common goal of some unknown reward. All we know is to stretch, report to the sun…and watch Girl grow!

  • Also…I want a Noby Noby Plushy!!

  • @31 – when I get what I want, I’ll stop.

  • @ 7 and 29

Are you freaking kidding me? That’s just beyond comprehension.

  • @35 – DLC is not a legitimate means of distribution.

  • @ 36

It was distributed to my hard drive just fine.

  • @37 A physical disc is the only acceptable means of distribution.

  • Takahashi-san, I am very grateful for your voice in the gaming world. Thank you and please don’t stop. We need brave developers to get us to….er….Mars.

  • The game is a time warp. I sit down for ten minutes and 2 hours have gone by.

  • Something that would be awesome would be if there were some new DLC or an update for it that involved pac-man or something. Some kind of gameplay relating to other Namco characters or what not.
    That would be interesting :P

  • I really enjoyed the… game? I’m not sure if that’s exactly what it is, I’m not sure what the exact definition of game is.. I knew not to expect much from a $5 game, and I got more than I expected, It was quite intriguing

  • Personally, to be frank, I want more of your work on our lovely little PS3’s. We miss katamari when you left us, and we enjoy Noby noby boy when you returned. To put it simply, we’re all greatly anticipating your next title. Keep up the fun and completely illogical games coming please :)

Are you getting the hint yet?

  • F the naysayers. thank you takahashisan. I love noby noby boy and yes girl does have beautiful eyes and skin…

  • @44

    You’re waiting for a $5 game to come on a disc? Really? $5? Ugh…it’s like 600 megs or something…

  • Why do you want a $5 game on disc go and buy a playstation card from best buy or blockbuster if you do not want to use a credit card.

Now on to the game I love it I just can’t figure out why and when I try and explain it to my friends they just kind of get this look of utter confusion on their faces then they see a trailer and are even more confused. But once they play it they usually like it although it scares one of my friends and he can’t figure out why LOL

  • @46/47

Yup. Disc is the only way I will buy a product.

    No disc – no sale.

It’s got nothing to do with using a credit card.

  • Hello from America, Takahashi-san! I hope you and the team are feeling well today!

I’m having a lot of fun with your game so far. Just today I discovered the wood elves in a ‘forest’ themed level. Today was also the first time I encountered a level with two different colors of terrain. A nice touch!

However I do have two small complaints with the game. The first thing that I do not like is not knowing how far we are from Mars or the planets thereafter. If you or a member of your team could please tell us on this blog, I think that every BOY would be grateful! Thank you, Takahashi-san!

My other complaint is the lack of local multiplayer. I realize from reading your interviews that PSN multiplayer is impossible but I remember seeing your demo of NOBY NOBY BOY two years ago with multiple BOYS playing at the same time. My girlfriend really loves this game as much as I do and she wishes that we could play it together. I would also enjoy this.

Takahashi-san and team, thank you for reading all of that and thank you for the hard work bringing us NOBY NOBY BOY. I look forward to the upcoming downloadable content as well as your answers to our comments.

  • @48

Hopefully, for your sake, they’ll release a Greatest Hits of the PSN blu-ray compilation with Noby Noby on it…

However, in the mean time, shut up
