PlayStation Store Update

Posted by Grace Chen // Senior Manager, PlayStation Store

Hey, everyone. It’s time again for the weekly PlayStation Store update.

Downloadable Games

3 on 3 NHL Arcade ($9.99)
EA SPORTS welcomes you to the fast paced world of arcade hockey. From the same team that brought you NHL 09 comes a 3 on 3 experience that throws conventional hockey, and its rules, out the window. Choose from 40 of the NHL’s top players and bring them into this no rules hockey game where big heads and big hits rule the day. With loads of power-ups falling on the ice to the ability to level a guy clear out of the rink, this is definitely not your typical simulation. This full version of the game offers online play, achievements, leaderboard tracking, and more features that will have you coming back for more.
ESRB Rated E
File size: 188 MB

Burnout Paradise – The Ultimate Bundle ($29.99)

File size: 48 MB

High Velocity Bowling: Candy ($0.99)
It’s time to bowl – High Velocity style! Add Candy Lincoln to your High Velocity Bowling roster. Candy’s a clash of old school and new tattoos. Both the KZ2 and 3 on 3 NHL Arcade demos were good off of the euro store, and obviously the MLB 09 one is a lock to be great so not a bad week, but the EU finally caught up on some games so they kinnda win but we already had those games so it levels out!

13

Buddy175  |  February 5th, 2009 at 4:59 pm

23

ThreeLeggedFreak  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:02 pm

Are we gonna get a PS1 game in ‘09?

24

Demonhunter84  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:03 pm

Buying the Burnout Paradise Party Pack and the LBP Valentine’s DLC kinda wish it was free but oh well we had a free DLC last week.

25

Patriotbball5460  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:04 pm

@15 http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/02/05/review-burnout-paradise-party-criterions-first-premium-dlc/

I am getting hit just to show my support for criterion and all that they have done for free

26

Lord_ShadowRyu  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:04 pm

Every update for the playstation 3 is not really great its to plain when there can be way more to offer come on. Sony step it up there more out there on the market than just 10 things to look at. Get some of those companys to give more demos more thems cooler stuff to look at then the same ole same ole. I would love to get ya great ideas.

27

Anddo  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:06 pm

Killzone 2, MLB: The and Phantasy Star Portable demos all in the same day WOOT!

28

DMeisterJ  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:08 pm

Hey, actual PSP love.

And an ok update, but much worse than the EU one.

29

ryanc08  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:08 pm

Not a big fan of sports game but will try out MLB 2009, best update of the year so far…but again thats not saying much

30

gtabmx  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:09 pm

Why is NHL 3 on 3 Arcade a “Trial” as opposed to a demo? Will it expire?

31

sNsKid  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:09 pm

The PS Store updates were so much better last year and suck hard this year for some reason.

32

Vengeful-Chaos  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:10 pm

Is the PSP store ever going to pick up? Is it so much to as for some PSP content for my 200×2 dollar investment.

33

Netweb  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:10 pm

Killzone 2 not here?
SWEET… but BAD!
SONY lauch the same stuff for everyone.. we are all nice guys and girls!

34

lilbuddy  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:10 pm

Awesome update. I love the two sports games offered as DEMOs.

35

Cwalat  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:11 pm

For ONCE.. the EU had better results.

but then again, things will go back to normal next week.

36

MrBeatdown  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:12 pm

If Hot Shots Golf continues to be supported by DLC, why is there still no trophy patch? To me it seems backwards to be updating the game with new content while overlooking trophies which I’m sure every Hot Shots player would like to see.

Also, will there ever be a demo for Crash Commando? I won’t be buying it until I know I know I will like it.

37

skynidas  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:12 pm

Good update, cant wait for next week’s update…Flower!!!

38

TheInfectedBy590  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:14 pm

Loving the KZ2 demo! :)
Also, PSN needs more PS1 games!

39

NeonReaver  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:15 pm

What happened to the Killzone demo coming today? I thought it was supposed to be available for everyone today?

40

WINNERS_CIRCLE24  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:17 pm

where is Flower? i thought it was this week

41

Nokiri  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:17 pm

it says i already bought the ultimate pack of burnout..cause i bought burnout on psn on 2008.. but how can i get party pack then.? i have to redownload the full game?but it dsnt let me?

42

Zookey  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:17 pm

I second 37 more PS1 games PLEASSE

Europe and Japan has had Crash Team Racing forever–why can’t we have it?

Also, you know what’d be awesome? Develop a program called ‘multitap’ that tricks legacy PSone games into thinking the PSN is just local multiplayer (kinda like Ad Hoc Party for PSP in Japan) so we can play multiplayer PSone games–maybe make that part of HOME? Like if people visit your apartment you can all play PSone games together on your HOME TV?

43

DrBingogh  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:17 pm

Not bad. I would have downloaded a KZ2 demo for sure if it was made available. Burnout is a must buy but I can skip the LBP pack. If you don’t build why buy more stuff?

44

AdamMadman  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:18 pm

The lack of Killzone 2 demo is fail. Looks like I’ll be looking to the EU PSN store update instead.

45

sbf717  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:19 pm

Seeing the Phantasy Star Portable demo on the store makes me wanna jump for joy. :D I’m so happy they made an english demo. :D I hope Sega will also have the full game on the Store as well.

46

Superottowa  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:19 pm

YEAH DOG!!! KZ2 DEMO DOG!!!!

47

ExPresident  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:24 pm

Nice update. When are we gonna start seeing PSP titles on the PS Store? I’m talking Patapon etc? I’d buy it today if you put it on the store.

48

Jeigh  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:26 pm

I really need to learn to say “awesome!” in more languages, ’cause this update warrants at least three. Awesome job, guys! :D

49

Mike Revenge  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:29 pm

What happened to the Killzone 2 demo?! >:(

50

JoE5005  |  February 5th, 2009 at 5:31 pm
