Hey everyone,
Greetings from the SCEA Blogger’s Lounge at GDC! Last week, we teased you with our Ratchet & Clank Future Weapons Contest and the new action figures coming from DC Direct. While I’ll talk more about this in a bit, we are very happy at Insomniac to finally announce the name of our next game.
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time will conclude the story arc that started in Tools of Destruction and continued in Quest for Booty. There will be plenty to talk about over the next few months as we work towards our fall release, and we can’t wait to share more. But for those of you wanting a first look, tune into Gametrailers TV this week on Spike TV (check your local listings for time) for the world premiere of the teaser trailer.
For those of you who have been e-mailing us with questions about the Weapons Contest and asking when and where you can submit, you’ll be happy to know that submissions are open as of tomorrow! I’m also excited to announce the Grand Prize winner will have their weapon included in Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, will be given a life-size replica of the weapon, and will win a trip to San Diego Comic-Con to meet with the dev team and reveal the winning weapon to the public there!
As inspiration for you guys, tune in tomorrow for a little video roundtable talking about some of our favorite weapons stories and experiences over the years of working on Ratchet & Clank weapons.

This is great! i love Ratchet n clank! i really hope that they put multiplayer back in! games really need to have an online multiplayer standard now! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE..
U had it in deadlocked.. now please improve it A TON and put it out with a crack in time!

This is off-topic, but very important. I was just in Home, where I purchased the full Resistance 2 SRPA outfit, along with Blanka’s torso and hands for my avatar. When I went to my wardrobe, Blanka’s items were there, the Resistance items were not. I checked the store again, and they don’t even have the icon that says I purchased them. But I checked my transaction history, and the purchases are noted on there. Please get back to me quickly, this has never happened before, and I’m pretty upset about it. I was gonna buy R2’s map pack today, but I can’t purchase anything until I’m sure this is taken care of.

Hi there, we don’t have anything to do with the Home costumes at Insomniac, so I’d contact the Home store’s customer support folks.

thanks for releasing the next game in the ratchet series. I really appreciate this series and i know there were many questions regarding online play for R&C:FToD, and your team decided that they would work only on a great single player experience, which i say was a fantastic job. On the other hand i have to say many people from the Ratchet Deadlocked and R&C:UYA were disappointed there was no online play. Trust me online play for this Ratchet game will bring most of your old market and will bring new ones too. I just feel that online play would be a great addition to this game, because it was a very addicting component of UYA and DL.

Good news. Enjoyed FToD but hoping you guys have included a little bit more platforming in the new game as the previous one seemed a tad overly shooty. Co-op would be nice too but not necessary.

Joystiq has been reporting that this might be another small downloadable game like Q4B, can you guys confirm whether this will be a full retail game like ToD or another episodic game like Q4B?

Hopefully this is a full retail release. just finished Quest For Booty a few minutes ago so im ready for more R&C!…also im assuming this game will have trophies right? :) cant wait to see what the list will look like.

Awesome news, you just can’t not love Insomniac Games. Great games, great relationship with the community, great support for their games on top of things like their Nocturnal project.
Love the series and can’t wait for the release of this game.

we knew it was coming lol , really excited to continue the journey from tools of destruction and quest for booty , i wish you could have shown us the trailer here because i really dont like the gttv host but i’ll wait till it hits the internet , one more thing James , when can we expect ratchet and clank and resistance home spaces???

Any chance weather effects will be added into the game this time? I’d love some snow, rain, wind, etc. to go along with the rest of the awesomeness. :D

my guess is this will be a blu game because Insomniac has 2 teams one for resistance and one for ratchet (as far as i know) and at one game a year ratchets team has now been unheard from for two so its gotta be full not dlc, right???

I hope the next incarnation of the RYNO is even more insane :D
And please fix the bug that causes R&C bolts count dropping from over 500m back into the 400s. My kid is on his 6th pass through and constantly loses a huge number of bolts when he’s over 1/2 billion, not that they can be used for anything at this point.
