Qore Episode 10 Today – Featuring Burnout Paradise, Riddick and Alpha Protocol

Posted by Kevin Furuichi // Executive Producer, PlayStation Network

We’re in the middle of week five of the PlayStation Network’s “Spring Fever” celebration, so pack your bags because we’re going island hopping with Qore.

Burnout Paradise
One of our favorite racing games will soon receive an expansion pack known as Big Surf Island. Our UK correspondent, Katers, takes a ride with Criterion Games to the new area especially designed to let players to catch big air. She also takes us on a behind-the-scenes tour of their expansive studio.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
Five years ago, Starbreeze Studios created a great game from the Vin Diesel film. The Qore team travels to Sweden to report on the sequel’s development and find out if Starbreeze will strike gold once again.

Alpha Protocol
Is it an action/espionage adventure? Is it an RPG? It’s both! This ambitious title from Obsidian puts players into the role of an inexperienced but resourceful agent. We visit the development team for an early look at SEGA’s upcoming game.

LittleBigGenius
Have you ever wondered how some of your favorite LittleBigPlanet levels are created? Qore tracked down the man behind one of the most “hearted” levels – The Azure Palace – to learn how it was done. Plus a look at some of our other favorite user-created levels.

This month, new and existing Qore subscribers will also receive a voucher for High Velocity Bowling as our way of saying thanks for your support. The voucher will be sent to the email address associated with your PSN account starting within 7 days of Qore’s release. Finally, we’ve got an exclusive Resistance: Retribution theme for the PS3.

Look for Qore Episode 10 to arrive Today.

mywhitenoise  |  March 12th, 2009 at 10:21 am

HVB is great. Im not a Qore subscriber, and I bought the game back when it came out, what a nice give away.

I just wish theyd unlock the save file for HVB.

I hope someone here can help me. I never recieved my last free game. Syphon Filter PS. Did anyone else? I see there is at least one other person who did not. Maybe I am missing it somewhere.

The free games are an awesome idea but it would be cool if I could give my code for HVB to someone else seeing as I have had that title for awhile. I don’t know if it’s possible but maybe you could have another option for those who already purchased it like a pack of add-ons or a voucher for $6.99 so we could pick something else.

unstablefears  |  March 12th, 2009 at 10:33 am

I got my voucher for Syphon Filter about a week after the release of Qore.

55

cowboyd21  |  March 12th, 2009 at 10:44 am

56

Spyroluver88  |  March 12th, 2009 at 10:54 am

@ 54 unstablefears

How did you get it? Was it an emailed code or did it just show up on your DL list? Thanks for the help.

SPOPS  |  March 12th, 2009 at 11:05 am

This actually sounds like an interesting episode. Hopefully it does not disappoint (like all the rest).

What happened to qore coming out the first thursday of the month?

58

sNsKid  |  March 12th, 2009 at 11:33 am

I can’t say I’m really excited about anything in episode 10. >.>

MeltTech  |  March 12th, 2009 at 11:33 am

Why doesn’t SCEA just send out $9.99 vouchers? Instead of ones to download specific games. Such as Calling All Cars and High Velocity Bowling? I paid money for these, and my $24.95 for Qore annual subscription. You know the old game magazines that use to come with demo discs, for like the PS2? These magazines were offered at two different prices. One price with the demo disc, a cheaper price w/out it. Qore is the exact same thing, only a digital magazine. It has included 2 games for the price of $24.95. I however paid for the $24.95 version and someone stole my game disk out of the plastic bag. Why can’t we all pay $24.95 and get 2 vouchers to redeem in the PS Store? Instead of all of us paying $24.95 and some people getting 2 free games?

Bigrhyno  |  March 12th, 2009 at 11:36 am

Bah! I just bought HVB Tuesday.

61

gbpman630  |  March 12th, 2009 at 11:38 am

Ugh. I don’t think I’ve even launched the last two episodes of Qore. And I don’t think I’ll even DL this one. I’m definitely not renewing my subscription. In no way is it worth the money.

62

kdiep  |  March 12th, 2009 at 11:54 am

lol this does not look like it’s worth the money. Alpha Protocol would probably be the only reason why I would want this but I’ve been very disappointed in Qore’s “previews” in the past so I’ll skip.

63

BusyManDan  |  March 12th, 2009 at 12:03 pm

Still haven’t got my voucher for syphon filter. So what makes them think i care about more free games that I won’t get.

64

KainDrake  |  March 12th, 2009 at 12:14 pm

woohoo. got my syphon filter code. though it’s a bit useless since i have the game but it’s a good back up for when or if my game disc gets scrathed (especially sice i got it used without a case). well can’t wait for HVB. wouldn’t it make more sense making it downloadable from qore rather than getting a voucher code? you know, like with calling all cars?

65

IrishPete333  |  March 12th, 2009 at 12:15 pm

Nice!

66

Demonic_Zhen  |  March 12th, 2009 at 12:50 pm

Thank you Qore. Keep up the voucher process, you are definitely making this a grand experience. I will return as an annual subscriber if this voucher program stays in effect . . .

71

Thrasher20  |  March 12th, 2009 at 1:53 pm

The reason why I get Qore episodes is because of Veronica Belmont. She is a cutie ;)

MadeInScotland  |  March 12th, 2009 at 3:06 pm

It’s past 6 pm on the East Coast. Where’s the store update?

77

stlthriot  |  March 12th, 2009 at 3:14 pm

This is slightly off topic but could we get a post about official information on what massively sized HDD’s are alright to put into a PS3 (Western Digital 500GB SATA 2.5″? will it overheat or anything like that?)

And, about what content gets saved when you do a backup (like DLC content for LBP and if not, can you redownload the timed items like costumes that were only available for a limited time?) and how to get everything ready to go again once you have the new HDD in there.

Thanks!
Would be much appreciated, especially with all the great games coming out lately, I am running out of room on my 80GB system! :)

mightymaximus  |  March 12th, 2009 at 4:20 pm

I have High Velocity Bowling already, could you give vouchers for games that most of us don’t have or multiple options of games (one choice)to choose from for free, and what about the free qore issues you have been giving out, are you extending the annual subscribers so we get 12 qore mags (paid for) plus a few free, or did the qore folks pay for the free issues for everyone? I will not buy qore again if I only get 9 or 10 paid for and a few free when there should be 12 paid for and if you decide to make some free than it should not have to come out of my pocket.MY transaction history shows that i am only getting 12 qore mags WHAT IS THE DEAL

79

ScorchedAngel08  |  March 12th, 2009 at 7:33 pm

just wondering…but if you just buy this episode of Qore…will you get the voucher for HVB?

80

KSPRAYDAD  |  March 12th, 2009 at 8:59 pm

Dear Qore…the PSN store indicates that when I buy a SINGLE COPY of Qore for $2.99 that I get “…exlusive Resistance:Retribution theme and the full game of High Velocity Bowling”…

So…I get the full game for buying a $2.99 episode according to how the PSN store reads.

This blog post however says new and current subscribers are getting the game.

One of these two statements is incorrect.

81

BPink  |  March 12th, 2009 at 9:34 pm

Dude!

Where is the Little Big Planet Content?!?

None last week, and none this week unless I buy a golf game that’s really not that great.

What’s the deal?!?

Where are those costumes shown to us on the 25th of last month? At least the Killzone 2 stuff should be out.

Okay, enough ranting about late content… I do have to say that the LBP t-shirt is awesome. I love mine. I can’t wait for more t-shirts. Maybe something in red next time.

Also, any thoughts on when we might see a new level pack? Oh, and I am so very committed to getting the LBP PSP bundle when it comes out at the end of the year.

I just can’t get enough of the LBP stuff… sackboys are the new crack.

82

CAGaHTN  |  March 12th, 2009 at 11:48 pm

Yeah I’ve had HVB since it came out and it would be nice to be able to choose from a few games or get $5 for the store you could save up or just use towards a different game. all in all im happy I spent the $25 for the sub.

83

Skant  |  March 13th, 2009 at 3:38 am

I tried buying Qore once. You guys lost me when you forced me to watch a Burger King ad while using a product I paid for.

You don’t get to deliver ads to me on my own dime.

84

ZZT4  |  March 13th, 2009 at 7:19 am

It would be nice if it was a little easier for annual subscribers to download the latest edition of Qore. Right now my process is to go to the Playstation Store, go to view downloads and scroll all the way back to last August when I first subscribed to it to find the latest edition. Is there anyway you guys can make this process a little easier for us annual subscribers? Or better yet, am I missing an easier way to do this?

Thanks,
ZZT4

Hi Kevin,
I hope you do come and check the blog comments after a day or so because I have a important question.

I am a QORE season subscriber since last June. Now the new Qore info, said that we will receive a Voucher Code for High Velocity Bowling, which is awesome.
BUT
I already HAVE High velocity Bowling.
So this code is basically worthless too me.

Can I PLEASE get a different code, for a different PS Store game?

Because you are giving these out, as a Thanks You for being a subscriber, but since I already OWN HVB, I am getting I don’t wanna say screwed, but that’s the only word that fits, sorry, I’m getting screwed out of a Free game that I deserve for being a purchaser of the Year Subscription.

In a way, it’s like I am getting penalized for already buying the game. Which I did buy the day it came out last year.

You are giving these VOUCHER codes out as a Thank you

I already own PAIN, HVB, and Echochrome.
Can you please work on something for me and let me know?
You have my address on file so PLEASE look into this for me?
Thank You
Eddie H.

@83….

So you don’t watch cable, buy magazines or buy newspapers?

Do you close your eyes to avoid ads when in your car or on the bus?

This is a digital magazine you are buying…they have ads.

87

BPink  |  March 13th, 2009 at 6:15 pm

Oh hey, got my answer… sorry about the rant.

Thanks.

88

triple_lei  |  March 13th, 2009 at 6:31 pm

Okay, you win – I got the subscription. I’m starting to think it’ll pay for itself! (Of course now I’ll be tempted to buy all the DLC, but still.)

89

still no voucher, whats the holdup

97

StaticFox  |  March 31st, 2009 at 2:44 pm

I wish they would tell us if buying the single episode will allow us to get a code for HVB…somehow I doubt it, otherwise there’s no point in selling HVB for $10 on the store…

So I guess my next question is…If I subscribe after the issue is released, will I just be ready for the next Qore? Because seeing the benefits of HVB makes me want to subscribe…but I feel as though I won’t be able to count this past issue as my first month’s subscription…
