So the rumors are true and we can finally talk about it! As you’ve heard and read, UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves will have both competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes.
We managed to keep the secret completely safe for over a year and a half, but right in the home stretch before the embargo lifted today, word got out all over the internet. Of course the leaked info was only the tip of the iceberg and there is a ton of coverage being released today on dozens and dozens of websites. So, pick your favorite videogame news site and go check out the coverage from our event last week. If print magazines are your thing, we’ve gotten word that we’ll also be in more than a few magazines around the world in the next few weeks.
If you’ve been looking closely at our interviews, our team here at Naughty Dog has been growing rapidly and we now have quite a few more Dogs on staff than when work finished on UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune. It shouldn’t be a surprise that we had to grow our studio to tackle the task of creating fully-realized multiplayer and co-op modes that would live up to our own high standards and do the UNCHARTED universe justice. I’m incredibly proud at the excellent work our team has done so far and it shows in the solid gameplay and incredible polish of the little slice we showed press last week. And if you’re dying to get your own hands on it, don’t worry, we’re having a multiplayer beta! It starts on June 3rd and you can get access to it through vouchers in inFamous, which goes on sale May 26th.
We’ll be back soon to talk more about our single player campaign – don’t think for a second we’ve forgotten about that! The rest of our team at Naughty Dog has been hard at work pushing our engine to its limits while creating a campaign that is more expansive and more ambitious than UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune. They’ve even learned a few tricks from our multiplayer and co-op development – truly a win-win situation as all aspects of UNCHARTED 2 are benefiting from the work we’re putting into both single player and multiplayer modes.

WOW. That look’s amazing. Having the freedom of the climbing with they’re awesome cover system in a Multiplayer battle is going to be so much fun. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was awesome and Uncharted 2 is going to be incredible.
omg this is awesome cant wait for this game to come out naughty dog you guys are awesome keep up the good. and for those that are complaining about the multiplayer in uc2 shut up you dont have to play it yust play the story mode.
I want to see more single player footage. It’s unlikely that I’ll even touch the multiplayer component of the game.

OK, not usually a huge fan of third person shooters, Warhawk being the exception but this looks badass!!! I may have to get it for the multiplayer and the single player just an awesome bonus!!!

Yes! The first Uncharted is definitely one of my all time favorite games. This game looks two times better then the original! I’m a bit confused about co-op play, though. Is it like going through story mode with another person or is it special levels to play with other people?

To all complainers, I guess COD should have never added Coop or Multiplayer? I loved Uncharted, but after I beat the SP there was nothing left for me to play. So why not add MP, as long as it doesn’t change the single player what’s the big deal. Why not try it then come back and cry once you played it.

not to undermine the great soundtrack already in the game but there is an audience for this feature that would greatly appreciate this feature. please make it happen.

That’s it, I’m selling my PS3…I’m tired of waiting for a reason (bad games) to sell it since dec 2007… you guys made me buy one when I saw Uncharted and now you are making me sell it, how ironic…this is just too much awesomeness for my old and tired heart :)

@SeanScythe for the record, CoD is a FPS not an action/adventure game like Uncharted is. A FPS without MP isn’t a FPS to begin with.
Funny, then you must have found all the treasures in 1 run and unlocked Crushing by a miracle touch and yeah… Personally I totally suck at shooters but even I finished the game at Crushing. I’ve done like 7 play throughs thusfar because the game is so amazing.

Really looking forward to Uncharted 2 and the addition of multiplayer/coop. I trust Naughty Dog to deliver a true single player sequel that will make the original proud, and to impliment a solid multiplayer experience as well.
To all the complainers:
Naughty Dog will NOT let the single player portion of the game become secondary. You will still get a high quality single player experience with the ADDITION of multiplayer.
AMAZING!!!! A few questions though, if you buy it after May 26 do you still get the beta? Also is it EVERY copy or just like the luck of the draw kind of thing?

I care less and less about multiplayer as time goes on. People who have no life and play these games all day and night tend to be jerks to those still learning the ins and outs, and I always feel like the fun is quickly sucked out of cooperative multiplayer modes like this because of it. Deathmatch style multi is all I’m ever interested in and I barely care. I’m most interested in single player campaigns or campaign co-op. Uncharted 2 looks excellent though, the first game was quite a ride. I’ll be playing it for sure, I just could care less about modes like this…
Hopefully Uncharted 2 won’t suffer from a lame story mode due to emphasis on multiplayer components the way Resistance 2 did. That game was a huge letdown since they spent so much time making a multitude of online modes instead of making a worthwhile, lengthy campaign mode. I reserved it and bought it day one, then finished it and traded it in a few days later- and I hardly ever trade my games in. Resistance 3? No thank you.
I like how everyone was complaining that there wasn’t a Jak game, and now that they have seen this trailer, it’s like 0_0

I was one of those that said Please no Multiplayer in Uncharted 2. Well My eyes have been opended and wow does it look amazing. i cannot wait to give this a try. Naughty Dog, you guys have done well Im definitely buying this game in the fall.

Yes…Finally a multiplayer game with a party system(officially announced now). Hope this means more games to follow suite or maybe a new firmware with a integrated party system.
