BioShock 2 Unveiled – Submit Your Questions!

Posted by Chris Morell // Senior Specialist, Social Media

BioShock 2 black logo

Let’s just take a second to reflect on how great it is that BioShock 2 is releasing simultaneously on the PLAYSTATION 3 this time around…OK, enough daydreaming about the underwater city of Rapture, because we’re here to tell you just how amazing BioShock 2 is already looking, underlined by a drill-wielding Big Daddy of a main character. Hunting the Big Sisters and utilizing Plasmids to unload a host of destruction, the return of Rapture brings a whole new world of experiences.

We listened last week as a some of the team behind the BioShock series talked about how this sequel came about and how this time around, you can take you Big Daddy outside the indoor confirms of Rapture and explore the surrounding sea. You now have the ability to Harvest or Adopt a Little Sister, and that dynamic will be an important driving force in the game and the incessant hunt for Adam.

And in a few weeks, Jeff and I will hop over to publisher 2K Games for a video interview with some of the brains behind the game. Of course, we’ll need your questions to make that happen. So drop your burning inquiries as comments, and we’ll make sure to get the goods in the very near future.

Would you kindly send me a free copy of the game, or DLC for the first?

102

DustyBlue  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 2:23 pm

Will there be multiplayer?

Will there be some of the guns you could use in Bioshock 1?

Will the gameplay still be fast-paced despite the fact that you are one of the Big Daddies, who were slowish enemies in Bioshock 1?

Will Bioshock be a franchise milked for all its worth?

103

nickert0n  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 2:23 pm

Seriously, dont be like Bethesda on Fallout 3 DLC exclusively to the 360, I wont buy that game because of exclusive deals with a god D$#@ company who cant even make a game console that lasts a year without breaking down.

104

HikariOblivion  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 2:36 pm

Will you be slower, larger, and more lumbering than the Bioshock 1 protagonist, or roughly similar?

105

typikal82  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 2:45 pm

Would you kindly?

lobotomies4free  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 2:59 pm

how will you maintain multiple endings while giving us more closure to the story this time around?

108

freeluv  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 3:01 pm

I like how they tell us to ask questions and then don’t answer. Well by reading through comments it’s seems everyone is asking the same questions. Like, will it be equal to the 360 version, mutliplayer, etc

109

IIIKAGEIII  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 3:04 pm

111

theBedBurner  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 3:07 pm

Just to be clear what is the official title Bioshock 2 or Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams?

acmilanboy  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 3:17 pm

I lovewd the original, however I sad that the PS3 port was not all that great as advertised. My question:

1: PS3 port was ok, but not as good as the Xbox 360 version, things such as blur was overdone the PS3 and hid the great texture of Rapture. Also the anti-aliasing was not upto the mark. How will the PS3 version of Bioshock 2 this time around compare to the 360 version?

2: Mandatory HDD still necessary? If so, will it be as big as 5 GB or something last time out?

Thanks

DNAgent  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 3:17 pm

Will you be able to freeze water this time?

In the first Bioshock you couldn’t which seemed kind of odd since the focus seemed to be the water.

115

montressor_1  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 3:26 pm

3 questions

Will there be native 720p-1080p support?

Will it still be single player?

Will there be a HOME space?

116

XZUMER  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 3:49 pm

I would like it to be suggested that we are able to pause the game or press Select and view a STATS screen. Obviosly the stats are embedded in the game. I wish it would show how many of each type of enemy we have killed, along with percent research on each enemy and any other stat which goes toward the trophy for each, such as a (1/20) toward each trophy for example. I don’t know where to suggest this.

Question: Generally speaking, PS3 exclusives have blown away multiplatform games in terms of graphics and sound (Killzone 2, 7.1 uncompressed audio). Why should the PS3 community buy this multiplatform game? We want to know what PS3 specific enhancements were used to give Bioshock 2 “must buy” status amongst games like Killzone 2, inFamous, God of War 3 and Uncharted 2 this year.

120

Seiven  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 4:42 pm

will you please include a trophy called “skewered” that unlocks when you drill two or more people at once with the drill arm?

121

spunnups  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 4:47 pm

I don’t have a question but I do have a statement. Do Not add Multiplayer or Coop. It takes away from the experience. If you do, I’m going to pass because, well, as we all know it’s going to be multiplat. A DVD can only hold so much. The more multiplayer you add, the less single player there is.

122

plasma-phoenix  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 5:54 pm

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let’s get one thing straight:

You don’t hunt the Big Sister, the Big Sister hunts you.

MAJOR QUESTION

Will Sander Cohen return?

124

Hershy999  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 6:04 pm

Will there be split screen or multiplayer?

125

kenshinhimurasz  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 6:25 pm

Ok let me say Bioshock was an amazing game, and i do have few questions.

1)What is the setting in Bioshock 2, how many years has its been since Bioshock, will it be the same or new settings from the previous game or a combination of the two.

2)How does the main character evolve and gain new powers, will it be the same as Bioshock, and will there be any new plasmids.

3)Will there be a wider verity of alternate endings in Bioshock 2.

4)How has Bioshocks ending contribute to the Bioshock 2.

126

DisnayATX  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 6:28 pm

Are you currently planning any future DLC? If yes, then will the DLC be restrictive to certain platforms.

127

liketoski  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 6:49 pm

Will we get a demo?

128

Mirauder  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 6:51 pm

Thought this was a question and answer thing and so far I’ve only seen 1 answer at that was at the beginning of the posts.

129

lanethepain49  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 7:10 pm

Will the PS3 version be a technical inferior port of the 360 code? Last time it was claimed to be equal but as the shipped $60.00 title showed, it wasn’t.
In other words, will ps3 owners pay the same price for an inferior product again?

hopefully the ps3 version isnt gay like alot of games, its rediculous i cant get DLC on fallout 3

130

acmilanboy  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 7:32 pm

Can you please give us some examples of how Bioshock 2 improves upon its predecessor on a technical level?

131

kenhitokiri  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 8:37 pm

I can’t wait for this game.

My questions:
1. Is it true that since we are a Big Daddy with the water suit, we can roam around on the seabed?
2. Will the PS3 version have additional features or some extra content?
3. What about 1080P?
4. Coop?
5. Can we upgrade the Drill that the Big Daddy gets?

132

blindrocket  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 9:05 pm

The challenge rooms for the first Bioshock were great, will we see more types of DLC this go around available on the PlayStation Store?

Is the development any easier since this is the second go around with the Bioshock series?

Multiplayer is an exciting new feature for Bioshock 2; will you be adding any features to utilize over the PlayStation Network, such as voice chat, friend invite, etc.?

The Cult of Rapture website has been host to a lot of great downloads for Bioshock, such as wallpapers, icons, .pdf artbook, and especially the game soundtrack. Are you planning the same great free content for Bioshock 2?

Will there be a Collector’s Edition for the PlayStation 3 version of Bioshock 2 this go around? We were unable to sport a Big Daddy figurine on our desks, though the cardboard sleeve was kind of nice.

Is there plans to hose a cover art design contest for Bioshock 2 like there was for the first game?

Thanks!

133

blindrocket  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 9:07 pm

*hose should be host. ‘doh!

134

dmon180  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 9:45 pm

will there be any multi-player options ?

135

omar22nader  |  April 23rd, 2009 at 11:33 pm

Who are Big Sisters?

136

Conrad_Max  |  April 24th, 2009 at 12:12 am

The original Bioshock was fantastic. I loved the sets, maps, sound and music. The story was very, very good and just pulled the player into the world of Bioshock.

From what I have read, Bioshock 2 will be just as great if not better.

For those people who were persuaded not to by the PS3 version of Bioshock, and have never played the game, I urge you to go and get it now. It is a fantastic game, no matter what version. Great story, great visuals. The game is very immersive.

Bioshock 2 is a must have for me, based on what I experience with the original. Looking forward to being scared and excited all over again.

Mobius_124  |  April 24th, 2009 at 1:09 am

1. What engine does Bioshock 2 run in this time around?

2. will there be DLC/Home support such as Clothing/game launching and such?

3. how will you guys take advantage of the PS3 this time around?

138

JKC31  |  April 24th, 2009 at 2:29 am

I completed the first one in 3 days. I was so burned out after they screwed me out of an ending. I never want to play it ever again. Day one buy for sure!

Loved the Andrew Ryan twist :D. Will there be more stuff like this in Bioshock 2? Also, it’s late at night for me :/. /Sleep

muzzar69  |  April 24th, 2009 at 4:08 am

ok im going to sound like a bit of a prick here but its realy not fair what sonys doing so here i go.

with M$ whats available in US, is available in europe, is available in OZ.
sony quite the opposite.
why?

were still getting ripped of with consoles, games EVERYTHING.
exapmple ps3 game brand new US $60 AU $120 last time i checked US $60 DOES NOT= AU $120.
more like 82
last time i checked 1 ps3 80GB console in US is US $400 here in AU $700.
last time i checked USD $400 DOES NOT= AUD$700.
more like $558.
so that means were paying $38 more than the US for games hows that fair?
and were paying $142 more than the US for a PS3 hows that fair?
this is why i HATE sony they ripp me off just because of where i live.
on top of that we get 90% of the games later than the US.
we miss out on some stuff like PSN content or DEAMON SOULS.
and we miss out on Collectors editions for some reason.
sony why do you refuse to release collectors editions for games you publish R2 KZ2 Uncharted i would of loved a CE for those games.
i know insomniac and GG wanted to release a CE but YOU SAID NO WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?????
continued bellow

141

muzzar69  |  April 24th, 2009 at 4:09 am

o and we dont get guides either.
Australia remains the only country where i cant buy the KZ2 guide why why why why ?????
so let me get this stright.
we pay more but we get less.
thats real fair.
yous have to get your priorities stright.
now i understand why Australia is xbox country even though we HATE microsoft.
stop treating us like second class citizens otherwise you will loose us as customers and you WILL NEVER beat MS in sales.
i now know why the ps3 is in third place FIX IT.

Are we going to be able to use our save from Bioshock for anything?

143

tbisley  |  April 24th, 2009 at 4:51 am

Why does it look as guff as the first one?

Just looks like a mod using the same graphics, very poor!

144

Rivithed  |  April 24th, 2009 at 8:55 am

Can we use the save content from BioShock 1? Can we please get a Big Sister collectible edition?

145

Elsa  |  April 24th, 2009 at 9:25 am

Is the story a prequel (about the beginnings of Rapture) or a sequel with a new protagonist?

… and any chance of co-op?

146

Zeroth_Fringe  |  April 24th, 2009 at 10:42 am

Bioshock one ranks as one of my fav games of all time,(the only fps i really like) I just cant wait to see what all the hype’s about… 2k do not diappoint me

147

cloudbullets  |  April 24th, 2009 at 11:28 am

Will there be any familiar faces returning to the game aside from Tenenbaum?

Are the plasmids significantly upgraded this time around?

Will DLC be available? A demo?

And will there be plot twists incorporated?

148

JaxsemReborn  |  April 24th, 2009 at 11:48 am

When can we expect a demo to hit PSN?

Is this coming out in Q3 or Q4 2009?

Can we expect the twist of BioShock 2 to top BioShock’s amazing twist? Will there even be a twist for 2?

Will there be a teleportation plasmid in this time around? I recall seeing the Houdini Splicers using it in BioShock, it would be great if we could use it in 2.

What types of DLC can we expect when the game launches?

If we choose to harvest Little Sisters, can the animation be a bit more gruesome? The harvesting animation in BioShock 1 was rather disappointing as it didn’t show the process of the ADAM slug being removed.

unbornsoldier  |  April 24th, 2009 at 11:51 am

big fan of the first bioshock loved every minute of it,cant wait for bioshock 2 one of my most anticipated games of the year :)

will there be a collectors edition?

can we expect a demo for the game on psn or as a preorder?

what preorder incentives will there be for the game?

can we expect to see more enemies other than just the big sister, splicers, turrets, big daddies?

how many weapon upgrades are gonna be in the game?

how many plasmids can we expect to see?

what other new features have been added to the game?

will there be any vehicle segments in the game?

can we grab splicers and throw them against walls :)?

how many trophies can we expect to see?

will there be any unlockables once we finish the game?

will there be any secret character skin we can play as once we finish the game?

can you hint at the new multiplayer modes and what we can expect from it?

how long will the game be compared to the first bioshock?

how many endings can we expect depending on how we play the game?

HOPE SOME OF MY QUESTIONS GET ANSWERED,THANK FOR THE OPPORTUNITY
