All Movies purchased to own or rent in SD through PSS are viewable on the PSP. You can download movies and tv shows from PSS on the PS3 or PC using Media Manager and transfer them to your PSP.

Here’s the link to the free Media Manager app: http://www.us.playstation.com/psn/mediamanager?LC-lps&FTTR=PSP_mediamanager_bottomleft_mediamanagerdetailpage

KSPRAYDAD  |  April 10th, 2009 at 7:39 am

Grace…for 5.25 months…once a week I’ve asked if you are looking at the re-download issue. Never have you responded but this week we did get FW 2.7 which addresses SOME of the problem. That is nice. BUT:

Can you please clarify the following:

1. If my PS3 is sent for repair and I receive a different PS3 back will I be able to load my back up copies that were enabled from FW 2.7?

2. If I buy a second PS3 for the house I should (in my opinion) be able to play my purchased content on either machine…is this possible?

Both of the above require that the Video License be attached to my PSN ID and not the MACHINE ID. Has this been done now?

If not than this is only a very minimal start to addressing the REAL issue.

Your TOS has not been updated so the answer to this question is ???

Thanks.

yes thank you, my breath has been saved.
again thank you for complaining on behalf of all Canadians and Europeans

15

KazeEternal  |  April 10th, 2009 at 8:05 am

@13
not sure what you have against @12’s post, but he has some very good points about the limitations and issues PS3 users have to deal with when movies come up. All of which are serious detractors for even using the movie store for anything other than rentals. If Sony wants to be taken seriously they need to fix their DRM for movies.

1) Ability to play the movie on any PS3 in the Home.

2) Ability to redownload lost content.

3) STOP DOUBLE DIPPING WITH THE PSP, you buy a movie once it should be yours. I can take a DVD or bluray rip it and have the ability to play on my PSP. Should cost me 3 times as much as the movie is worth to have this ability especially with the availability of Digital Copy.

4) 720P….come on seriously

5) It would be nice if we heard something from Grace Chen on the issue. As it stands every individual at Sony who has been on this blog has had a far better track record for responses than Grace. We need to know what is going on with this.

Quixote  |  April 10th, 2009 at 8:57 am

I am very curious why there is so little feedback from Sony on the PS Store blogposts.

It seems like there are many valid questions/comments that appear every week, and I have not seen much if any feedback from Sony. Other blogposts seem to get some attention when questions/comments are made.

Can Anyone from Sony comment?

22

Ftwrthtx  |  April 10th, 2009 at 9:11 am

With Casino Royale hitting PSN, is that guarantee Quantum of Solace will hit PSN when it hits Pay Per View networks on April 23 (or the week of Apr. 23)?

Kristi Fernadez's Avatar

Kristi Fernadez replied on April 10, 2009 at 11:28 am

Yes, the expected release date for Quantum of Solace on PSN is 4/23.

Sony: Hey Everyone! More video content!
USA: Yay! Thank you, Sony!
Rest of World: Hey, Sony, you forgot about us.
Sony: You’re welcome everyone!
USA: kthxbye
Rest of World: Sony?

26

jdizzle84  |  April 10th, 2009 at 9:27 am

Forget the movies! I doubt that many people even download these. The PS3 should be about games first and foremost. Get your act together and release all those PS1 games that have been in the Japanese store. Release FFVII now!!

27

JuanDHexen  |  April 10th, 2009 at 9:28 am

Hate to bring the competition into this but Wii & 360 are getting It’s classic games each week.I want to know where are our classic ps1 games.

28

Quamina  |  April 10th, 2009 at 9:39 am

@25 lol amazing and Canada needs the video store!

29

StrykerIsland  |  April 10th, 2009 at 9:41 am

ANd for my fellow Canadians that cannot enjoy the video store, I offer you a fun little game I came across yesterday with my friends…

http://strykerisland.mybrute.com

And back on topic, cmon Sony at least acknowledge the Canadian issue and say you’re workin on it, my wife keeps bugging me about it, she wants teh movies!

30

mixedkidbx  |  April 10th, 2009 at 9:45 am

i dont think ive even seen Grace reply to any thread she makes.

31

AdamMadman  |  April 10th, 2009 at 9:45 am

The fact that you continually ignore Canada as part of North American only proves how out of touch with god damned reality Sony is on this issue.

This video service will only ever be competitive when a) liscensing is attached PSN IDs, not machines (the fact this isn’t already the case proves how idiotic the team behind this are) and b) it is available everywhere, not just the US.

Give me a reason to support you in the future Sony. I bought the Ps3 in the hopes that services and features would be uniform across the board. Where I live should not dictate what features my machine does and doesn’t have. Get a F***ING clue.

32

userfriendly  |  April 10th, 2009 at 9:46 am

Grace, a simple yes or no for the Canada video store would be just fine. Even a winky face will do.

I and many other people are probably getting sick of seeing these types of messages here but there is only one way to get it to stop.

33

StrykerIsland  |  April 10th, 2009 at 9:49 am

Hey AdamMadman, I suggest in the future you refrain from name-calling if you want your questions dealt with.

Wording it like that only makes you seem like someone that isn’t capable of having any sort of mature discussion, so why on Earth would any rep from any company answer you.

34

SNK3R  |  April 10th, 2009 at 10:18 am

Yesterday was the first time I’ve ever rented a video from the Video Store. I rented two movies, but I’ve yet to watch them.

I have to say, though, that I don’t like the idea that you can only play the video for 24 hours after its first play through.

Why can’t I watch the movie a few days after it plays (since the rental is actually 14 days)? Blockbuster or Netflix lets me play it before I need to return the video.

35

Onna76_NL  |  April 10th, 2009 at 10:25 am

Hey Sony when are we in Europe / America goig to get FFVII in the PSN store? The game is available in the HK / JP store, same as Xenogears and we still haven’t got it!

36

Onna76_NL  |  April 10th, 2009 at 10:25 am

Oops sorry wrong blog thought this was the PSN store update blog…

37

Enforcer_X  |  April 10th, 2009 at 10:29 am

The video store is a joke Grace is a joke and these posts are giant jokes.

Usually it’s the hardware that can’t handle what we want but in the case of the PS3 we have a VERY capable machine, capable of 1080p and 7.1 Surround Sound, however it is limited to 720p and Stereo sound by the content provided on the PSN Video Store.

I don’t even know why I am posting right now, wasting my time, I guess I hope someone will read this and TRY to correct these issues.

38

Happy_Spud  |  April 10th, 2009 at 10:33 am

You want classic PS1 games? Hit Ebay!

39

Canada please.

40

dulcediana  |  April 10th, 2009 at 10:55 am

FF VII please give that to us too!

41

Spyroluver88  |  April 10th, 2009 at 10:55 am

@ 15 KazeEternal

you said “STOP DOUBLE DIPPING WITH THE PSP, you buy a movie once it should be yours.”

When you buy a movie you are able to tranfer it onto 3 PSP’s.

42

djsaiyan  |  April 10th, 2009 at 10:58 am

I’m going to echo what everyone else is saying and put in my request for:

- 1080p with surround sound

- A Canadian video store

- PS1 classics that have hit Japan in North America (especially Final Fantasy VII and Xenogears!)

Seriously, there’s money to be made here!

43

smokey_vols  |  April 10th, 2009 at 11:07 am

Why don’t you explain to everyone why Quantum of Solace isn’t on the store?

44

smokey_vols  |  April 10th, 2009 at 11:14 am

I stand corrected, I see Casino Royale on the update.

45
