  • @53 But why should we have to import it? Did the people in the rest of the world have to do that to get the game in UMD format? No.

Is anyone else getting fed up with Sony not even taking the time or consideration to at least respond to the people asking for UMD? You’d think they want our money, too.

  • Please answer this question-

Where are these free Patapon 2 t-shirts at Home? I’m from UK and I checked Home today but I don’t see them at any of the stores. Please let me know.

    Thanks

  • @Purple: Why does a UMD mean so much to you?

This isn’t a sarcastic question; I seriously want to know.

As for me, when Chris first started talking about Patapon 2, I was in almost every post, saying that I wanted it on PSN. I didn’t want a disk for this; why would I? To hell with battery-sucking UMD. On a full charge, I can play Patapon 1 for about 5 hours, as opposed to my PSN Patapon 2 for 10.5.

Besides, it cost me less on PSN than it would have retail.

  • I posted my picture! I really hope I can get one of the shirts, either through this contest or from a store. I have the shirt in Home and I really loved it and was hoping it’d become a real shirt!

    Patapon is great!

  • So this patapon game looks awesome is it only for psp? i can’t just buy and play it on my ps3?

Sorry! PSP exclusive for the time being.

that last line is suspect…even though i own 1 &2 for my psp it looks like maybe ill be buying another copy…..in the future if course.

  • ARRRGGG!!!!!
I’m a Canadian and I LOVE Patapon, but the contest isn’t even open to us in Canada!!! I think you guys should put the shirts in Canada to be bought, because us Canadian people can’t win them.

  • LOL I live under a SHELL IN A GARBAGE CAN NOT UNDER A ROCK!!!

  • @Evo
    1) To me, a UMD feels like I own it. I have a physical copy of the item and if something happens to it, it’s my fault.
    2) Memory card space is taken up. I like to have many save files for games (and yes, I go back and reload nearly all of them.) I could have 1 UMD and 1 memory card for hundreds of saves, yet if the game is on the memory card, I would have to have it copied on each one, as well as remember which save is on which card
    3) The game cost the same amount of money either in store or on the PSN, so there’s no saving by buying it digitally.
    4) I don’t always have access to a high speed internet connection and the Wifi spots near me are not convienent and as slow as molasses.
    5) Battery life doesn’t matter to me. By the time the battery dies, I’m done playing anyway.

To clarify #3, If Sony decided to release a UMD version that cost more, I would gladly pay for it, but as of right now, I could go get my box and manual for the same price as on the PSN.

I’ve said it before, I don’t mind the fact that DD is there. It’s great that it’s there for the people who wanted it. I just feel that Sony is alienating some of their core fans and supports by not easing into the DD model and offering both options. I’m just saying, a choice would have been appreciated, even if there was a greater monetary cost associated with it.

  • @62: Don’t forget this is a test run for UMD-less releases in North America. If people don’t bite, they’ll go back to stocking shelves. Personally I figured this release would be cheaper since it’s disc-less, but it’s not, so I don’t see it as a win for consumers.

However, it does stand a chance of being more available since anyone with an internet connection can get it. Also it’s not at the mercy of retailers that flip coins to decide what they’re going to order and what quantity they’re going to stock.

  • Chuck, thanks for responding to my comment regarding getting this stuff for sale in stores. I have two suggestions:

    1) Tell us what stores you are trying to market them to so we can call them up and ask them to carry them (politely of course).

    2) PlayStation Store Merchandise tab compatible with the Web store.

I’m not sure if anyone is still checking these comments today, but I thought I would throw these ideas out there. Personally, I know of a Gran Turismo community with over 100,000 members (I’m sure you know which one) that would all like some nice GT stuff, and I have to imagine that other PlayStation family IPs would sell stuff decently as well.

    • Thanks for the suggestions! We approach all retailers but sometimes the \”T Shirt\” buyers don\’t see the opportunity that we see. They don\’t understand how much Patapon love is out there.

    @56

DD is an unacceptable form of delivery.

    We do not own it.

We cannot do what we want with it.

    This is unacceptable.

Physical discs MUST be a choice for consumers.

I’m going to be in EVERY post on this blog featuring a story about DD games saying the same thing, until Sony gets it through their thick skulls.

  • Jeff!! I want my FREE SHIRT NOW!! or I’m gonna Pata-Smack You.. LOL!

  • On the topic of DD. I’ve decided not to buy Patapon 2 unless it is released on UMD.

I have a PSP1001 and a PSP2001 and I switch between them as their batteries are depleted. I only have 1 MS card big enough to store the download and can’t really afford to buy more cards just to store games on. I’m pretty sure I would only be able to play Patapon 2 on one device without repeatedly enduring a rediculously long download and install process.

I don’t care about battery drain, I don’t care if removing the UMD drive makes the PSP lighter. I’m happy that DD is an option, but I want UMDs.

If Sony still wants my business they’ll produce physical media. If not, this will likely be the last generation of PlayStation hardware I will ever purchase.

  • we the people want patapon 2 on a umd disc this is unfair i live in puerto rico and the internet here sux dling is slow and it cut off so downloading it is out of the question plus i have no debt or credit card. and in japan they have the umd disc why cant we american get the umd in english this unfair becuase of the hacked psp’s i work hard to buy my games and now i am denied a game digital downloads maybe the way of the futuer but in hand with the physical product

  • Everyone who wants Patapon on UMD, I’d encourage you to go to Amazon.com and give Patapon 2 a 1 star rating, sighting the lack of a UMD as the reason for your negative review.

Petitions and blog posts don’t work, but they might listen when we complain through popular retail websites.

  • What do you need to do to get friendship equitment? I play and play with my friend I got 2 friendship items and nothing else. Do you need to be at the same level? or do you need to play with different people not just one?
