Gamers Beware! The original PlayStation port of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six was horrible! Do NOT pick this version up! Try the PC version.

Too bad PSone classics will (most likely) never support trophies. Re-releases like Castelvania Symophony of the Night, Dig Dug, Doom, Defender, Frogger, Gauntlet, etc. all have achievements on 360, I’m sure others do too, so I don’t see why they re-releases on PS3 don’t.

Second solid week of updates for PSN. Hopefully, Sony is finally getting it’s act together. I really enjoyed the inFamous demo and will pick this up as a result (see Sony – if you make demos available before launch more people will buy the game – what a concept!).

Has anyone ever tried the PS1 version of Rainbow Six? Is this worth $5.99 for fans of the series?

Well from what I’ve heard the PS1 version was pretty bad… even fans of the series would probably dislike it. I own the dreamcast version of the game and its great.

I’ve been really impressed with the PSN lately and I’d really like to thank Grace and Sony for that. There’s been PSone games three weeks in a row, a downloadable game almost every week, a demo every week and lots of DLC. However, the only fault that I’ve seen is that there’s been ZERO support for the PS3 Eye for a good year or so now. There used to be a good number of games coming out for it and then all of sudden, nothing. I paid $50 for my PS3 Eye and I’d really like to see some support for it besides games that came out over a year ago and the usage of it with Burnout Paradise. Please make this happen… thanks!

I am definitely going to get the Taking Back Sunday pack for Rock Band. I love all those songs especially “Make Damn Sure” I wish there were going to be tracks from their new album “New Again” on Rock Band, I love the song “Sink Into Me”…it would definitely be a good song for Rock Band with the awesome instrumentals.

Both PSOne “Classics” (take the classic term very loosely) are horrible choices for PSN Store. Meanwhile, the Japanese store has better choices and hundred of PSOne games.

But remember, after all this time… there is still no “Ridge Racer” to be seen. Remember that classic SONY. I know your esteemed leader Kaz Harai knows it. He embarrassed himself years back at E3 by saying “its RIDGE RACER!!!” when he showed the classic game playing on a PSP.

Is the obnoxious Red lettering really necessary?

Anywho, good to we finally got a Monster Hunter Demo, I’ve always wanted to give that game a shot.

I’m also happy to see that we got Rainbow Six(another game I’ve always wanted to try). Don’t care for Ford Racing, but I’m sure someone will.

All-in-all, I’m happy for the continued support for the PSOne Classics, but I am afraid that they might be using all they got in a single go, and then we’ll be back to waiting another 5-6 months before we get any again. Really, as much as I appreciate the support, I’d much rather prefer that they were released more consistantly(even a few every month would do), so we can at least know when to expect to see new ones, instead of waiting every week, only to be dissappointed.

Can you lower the prices of the UMD Legacy games just a little more? I tried to download Jeanne d’Arc today but my purcase was declined because of my funds being insufficient by a margin of TWENTY- THREE CENTS. Twenty- three freaking cents. I only use the PSN cards because I don’t like to use a credit card for online purchases and I don’t do it that often. But twenty- three cents? In the words of Bill Engvall, “Here’s your sign.”

@147

No need to get so defensive, it’s just a video game console. SCEA isn’t going to send you a Christmas card, and wouldn’t notice or care if you dropped dead in the morning. So you shouldn’t feel the need to defend them from criticism. Try going outside. Why shouldn’t they put them up? because they are terrible games, and SCEA has bragged for years that they have a greenlight committee that assures only quality games, and that (and I quote) “we don’t want to let a bunch of crap onto our service just so we can say we have the most games”.

All that seems to have gone out the window, though. If they have to release crappy games, they should make sure they balance it out with a good one, or rename the feature “PSone games”, sans the classic. (that would lower expectations) Also, technically I am a member of the PSN, that was the worst defensive plastic fetishist (Fanboy) analogy I’ve read all year.

181

+ ddydydy on May 25th, 2009 at 5:32 pm said:

You guys do understand that SCEA has to cover all the bases with the PSOne classics, pleasing people of vastly different genres, instead of just releasing “classic” games, the ones. Otherwise, the PSOne Classics section would be filled with Platformers, 3D fighters, and RPGs(perish the thought!).

In this case, Ford Racing is here because they needed to appeal to the fans of “realistic” racing games (and because they were probably the lowest bidder, the GT and Need For Speed series are valueable these days). Same with Rainbow Six, which is meant to appeal to fans of FPS’s(like me:D).

While you guys have every right to complain, just remember: even if the current releases failed to please you, that doesn’t be they “failed”, it just means they succeeded in pleasing someone else.
