BUZZ! Comes to PlayStation Home

Rob Alvarez's Avatar Posted by on May 28, 2009 // Product Marketing Manager

Great news BUZZ! fans!

We’re going to launch a brand new space in PlayStation Home called BUZZ! HQ, where players can chat and meet up with other trivia fans in a new lobby area or take part in a massive 64-player BUZZ! trivia showdown!

The game works by making you run around the studio on a massive BUZZ! Buzzer to answer questions, all of which are taken from the best content that you’ve created on the website.

Four colored answer buttons are laid out on the floor and you need to make sure you’re standing on the right answer when the time runs out. The winner’s decided over four rounds, and there are a number of exclusive Home prizes up for grabs for the greatest players. We are very excited to be bringing a fantastic new BUZZ! multiplayer game to Home and we know this is going to be a great social experience.

So keep an eye out for the new BUZZ! space, which will go live very soon. In the meantime, check out this virtual tour of the space and let us know what you think.

Keep on buzzing!

Awesome, I love Buzz! One day it would be cool if there was a Buzz game where you can purchase the game to play, but people in PlayStation Home can attend the show in the audience.

I’ll definitely download this space and check it out. :D

Seems interesting but in anything like this you’ll lose almost all sense of any real knowledge-based competition as people who don’t know the answer will simply go to where everyone else is and be rewarded for being sheep

+ WhiteSpy on May 28th, 2009 at 8:06 am said:

That actually looks pretty awesome.

+ Haskell420 on May 28th, 2009 at 8:07 am said:

SWEET!! But hopefully it lives up to it’s potential!

Looks really neat. I’m enjoying seeing how devs are transforming Home in ways that I hadn’t thought of. Home is coming along, though I probably won’t really chill there until my favorite games get some spaces – KZ2 and LBP wtf? Sony put some pressure… with game launching…

I would LOVE a few more characters for Buzz! Quiz TV.
Please please please!

Sony is awesome for bringing back the “PlayStation” at the end of trailers.

+ KazeEternal on May 28th, 2009 at 8:30 am said:

I’m with 15 that was awesome. Bring back the “PLAYSTATION” on everything.

PS1 and first 2 years of PS2 had the most awesome campaigns….. wonder when sony went left when they should have gone right. Only thing I’ve seen them do right is the Universe of Entertainment Commercial and the PlayStation Blog.

Keep up the great work PSB staff you guys are awesome!!

Are the prizes just PlayStation Home prizes or just PlayStation prizes in general?

+ WFMMK on May 28th, 2009 at 8:46 am said:

Nice I’m sure I’ll pop in for a visit soon too.

That looks awesome!

What I would really love to see is a patch or DLC for BUZZ with new playable characters and more Quiz Show modes.

+ SPARDA on May 28th, 2009 at 9:04 am said:

They were not kidding when they said they would be adding a new spaces every month.

Nice work.

+ sscoolChea on May 28th, 2009 at 9:06 am said:

Awesome ………..We need to make the 5-8 players the same way as the 2-4. Whats with the short games for the 5-8 ?

Will we also have game launch from the room ?

Will we also get a patch to play the old buzz gameplay from the ps2 .

+ womfalcs3 on May 28th, 2009 at 9:11 am said:

For prizes, why not integrate the PlayStation Store?

Say run a large tournament, and whoever wins it gets to download a game from the PS Store.

Great Thank You !

+ HongoXIII on May 28th, 2009 at 9:16 am said:

Looks great. I would love to use my Home Character in the actual game though. :) Either way, awesome updates for the day so far.

+ Ra-Ausar on May 28th, 2009 at 9:33 am said:

Excellent!! I’ve been waiting for the space for some time now. I hope support for game launching to up to 3 players will also be available in the near future.

Thank you! This is the kind of activity needed in Home… enough with the “hang out/ pseudo bar/ lounge/ pick-up joint” type places!!

Maybe a Singstar space next?? Watching people sing badly is always highly entertaining! :)

+ ROLO_ONFIRE on May 28th, 2009 at 9:38 am said:

Great, if you could reduce Home’s loading times and integrate the avatars with the rest of the PS3 would be awesome

+ DonnyG on May 28th, 2009 at 9:38 am said:

That’s actually a cool idea. I don’t know if it’s enough to change my overall opinion on Home but it’s a start in the right direction.

+ mgsfoxhound2 on May 28th, 2009 at 9:41 am said:

cool idiea!!! Love it looks awsome!!!! another achievment from SONY!!!!!!!!!!!

+ StalkingSilence on May 28th, 2009 at 9:45 am said:

I think the functionality is great and glad it uses MyBuzz quizzes! But I guess I don’t see how more people will want to get into the game after playing this? Seems like the whole game is made into a mini-game within home.

+ StalkingSilence on May 28th, 2009 at 9:48 am said:

Just noticed mybuzzquiz has been significantly enhanced, when did this take place?

+ Drake1416 on May 28th, 2009 at 9:49 am said:

Looks absolutely beautiful! =D

and especially

I just thought of something, wouldn’t it be nice to have Kudos for PS Blog? Just a thought. ;)

+ D4RkNIKON on May 28th, 2009 at 9:53 am said:

Take that 1 vs 100 XBL! Sony needs to fully expand on this idea, take it to the limits!

+ joseph2411 on May 28th, 2009 at 9:57 am said:

Looks AWESOME!!!!!

+ TheTwelve on May 28th, 2009 at 9:57 am said:

Very, very awesome. I’ll be all over this.

Amazing stuff Sony! Keep up the fantastic work! PS Home is on the right course, and I truly love it. Showing the pessimistic people out there how wrong they were by burying Home.

this is a very cool way to get everyone in the game at once and not have to have us stand in line waiting our turn

KEWL but why can’t i go on Home with my UK or Japan accounts? I mean they were made in the UK and Japan so why am I being locked out? It’s not fair, I think Closed Beta Testers should be allowed to go anywhere they want. IMHO
