Heavy Weapon01

Hey everyone, I’m Michael Santora, an Associate Producer from PopCap Games, bringing you all of our titles in association with Sony Online Entertainment. So far, the response to our classic titles, Zuma and Bejeweled 2, has been fantastic, so we’re excited to bring you another favorite, Heavy Weapon.

Having grown up on classic arcade shooters and original game consoles, Heavy Weapon holds a special place in my heart. It’s a true shooter game that always reminds me of my youth, pumping quarters into machines at the local arcade. Heavy Weapon was originally developed on the PC for Windows, but it’s now found a home on the PLAYSTATION 3. The DUALSHOCK analog sticks give moving & shooting in independent directions a more arcade-like feel. Playing survival mode online or locally with your friends is a great way to earn the “Survive 12 Minutes” Trophy. Multiplayer mode lets you play with up to 3 other people so you can play with old friends or new ones!

Heavy Weapon02 Heavy Weapon04

Heavy Weapon fans can enjoy a new feature created exclusively for the PS3, which is the ability to shoot down and destroy the supply helicopter as it delivers power ups to you. It makes some of the later levels a bit more challenging since you have to pay more attention to your allies while you’re shooting down everything else in the sky.

That’s all for now. We’re working on bringing you Peggle and Feeding Frenzy 2 before the year is out, so keep an eye out for those! I can’t give away much about Peggle, but I think it’s going to be really cool.

If it was on PSP, I’d want it. But why play it on the PS3 when it’s already on the PC?

+ mixenitup on June 11th, 2009 at 11:28 am said:

Peggle!! One of my favorites. If you realease peggle you’ve got to release a day and night version for the Ps3. In other words both the original Peggle & Peggle nights all in one PS3 version. You could totaly work an angle on the day and night thing. I might even buy it twice if you did that.

i would love it if you guys release Plants Vs Zombies.
ugh.. my PC can’t support the game and i can’t even try it.

Just mentioning peggle was the best thing you could have done in this article.

Now this is the type of game ive been waiting for. PopCap games Zuma was awesome.

I hope this Popcap game either has a lower price point, or higher quality audio and graphic assets. If it’s going to have the same asset quality as the iPhone version, then it should have approximately the same price.

I am trying to be constructive here :)

I have this on my 360 but I have basically quit playing that machine as I highly prefer my PS3. I’m surprised more people are not dumping their 360’s for the PS3 as this system is just so much better. FYI – I really didn’t like the PS2 and have always been a Nintendo fan myself. But the PS3 has just grown on me a lot over the last year.

Any chance of adiscount for those who own the 360 version? That would be great since it is the same game.

Where is PLANTS VS ZOMBIES? Get that on the PSN now and you will sell a ton of copies. I own it on my PC but hate playing games on the PC.

Is this game remote playable on PSP like your other PopCap/SOE releases?

Crash Commando just put a demo out and A LOT of people recently purchased it, the online is loaded with games whereas just before the demo, it had about 20% the activity. So demos do seem to work.

BTW, pick up Crash if you want a amazingly fun, addictive game.

[This post ONLY refers to this week’s PS Store for PSP Update.]

Wow, this game looks pretty cool, but I disappointed by it being yet another PSN game that’s only available for the PS3. I wish that SCEA would consider releasing more PSN games for the PS3 AND the PSP simultaneously. I’m hoping that this will change once that PSPgo is released.

Tried the demo, it was fun.

If you put it on a disc, I’ll buy it.
