Hamster vs Human Dance-Off for Control of PlayStation Home

PlayStation Home Hamsters vs Humans Dance-Off

We told everyone that it was an April Fools’ joke; that there was no way a malevolent race of giant hamsters could take over PlayStation Home, replace all the music within it to Animal House’s “Chain Swing” and host a dance party in Central Plaza. We don’t know what their game is, but we do know this: the hamsters are back.

Ladies and Gentlemen, PlayStation Home has been taken over – conquered if you will – and this Saturday night, the humans are making their stand. Which is why this Saturday night, at 8PM PST, in Central Plaza, the Home community – both hamsters and humans alike – will meet on the battlefield of Listen@Home for the ultimate Hamsters vs Humans Dance-Off. It’s bound to look like a Pat Benatar video, but where shoulder dancing was utilized to combat violence against ladies of the night, the running man will be key in fighting off these furry invaders.

This call to arms (which will be used for body pops and not body blows) is not without its own reward. Whichever faction wins this desperate struggle for control of PlayStation Home by forming the longest dance lines or chains in Central Plaza will then unlock a special reward item for all of Home, to be delivered in a future update.

So where do you stand? For which group shall you dance the night away? I for one welcome our new furry overlords. I’d like to remind them that as a trusted community personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their tiny, plastic containment units, complete with running wheels and water drip.

sO IF HAMSTERS WIN DOES HOME TURN INTO A GIANT HAMSTER CAGE TUNNELS AND ALL.

SO IF HUMANS WIN, DO THE HAMSTERS GET SHRUNK DOWN TO REAL LIFE HAMSTER SIZE AND WE WOULD BE ABLE TO COLLECT THEM AND KEEP THEM FOR A MONTH AS PETS?

bah……

Is this home stuff the reason why the PSN was messed up the last couple of days?

I mean honestly people, im all for silly crap, but I think i will uninstall home as well.

I dont want to support it. I want you guys to add cross game voice chat and avatars, and all i see everytime i come on here is dumb crap added to a frustrated and broken Home.

sigh.

What a waste of effort. A failed project home is, please put a stop to it already.

I don’t understand what Home is for. If you automatically launched directly into home when you turned on your ps3 and could select videos, music, pictures, games and PSN from inside your apartment, that would make sense to me. But you can’t.

It seems like its marketted at people who own a ps3 and don’t own any games or movies. Because it does nothing and it’s not very fun. The time spent developping home could have been spent much more effectively. Not spending any time on it at all would probably have been more effective.

Yes I am a Home hater. But I submit that it takes a vacuous personality to enjoy Home.

Yo Sony! Off topic, But now that you’re filling up PSN with PS1 games(Thankfully!) could you allow us to map the directional buttons from the original PS1 control to the analog stick?

For example, Games like Castlevania SOTN & Final Fantasy 7 only allow the character to move using the directional buttons. You could put an option to emulate the directional buttons with the left analog stick of the Dualshock/Sixaxis.

Not a huge feature, But I know a few people would appreciate it & have asked for it in your forums.

From what I remember the PSP is able to do this, Would you be able to do it for the PS3 in an upcoming Firmware update?

39

+ Shaselai on June 19th, 2009 at 1:17 pm said:

@38
If you hit the “home” button on the psp it opens up a menu where you can map the movement key to the stick.

@ #31 & #36

I agree with you both.

a ‘Hamster Dance Party’? I don’t even know what to say… since launch, Home still hasn’t done anything to make me want to boot it back up. These wasted resources should be used to improve features elsewhere in the PSN.

45

+ mywhitenoise on June 19th, 2009 at 1:35 pm said:

Totally agree with #31, instead of all the MONEY that went into Home, they could have spent that on keeping GTAIV/Tekken 6/FFXIII exclusive. Those are system sellers, and Sony’s missing out big time because of their stubbornness.

I will be on the humans side, because theres no way in hell I’m spending $2 on a Home costume.

I love how everyone thinks they are going to shut down Home just because they think it sucks. The majority of people like Home to hang out.

48

+ Slayer612 on June 19th, 2009 at 1:38 pm said:

People complain because they can’t spend $2 on a Home costume. But they will spend $200 on a pair of sneakers that cost $1.50 to make. AND YES THAT IS ONE DOLLAR AND FIFTY CENTS TO MAKE.
