Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This? Available Exclusively via PlayStation Store

Hello everyone,

This is Nao from NIS America, Inc. Today, I’d like to share some exciting news about “Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman!” for PSP with all of you.

NIS America has decided to release Badman exclusively on the PlayStation Network on July 16, 2009. The reason we’re going this direction is because the demo version of Badman on PSN was so surprisingly well received, and we thought Badman would be the perfect title to test the waters of this download-only release opportunity on PSN. Badman is a relatively small title in terms of download size, and with a PSN release we can provide this title to our fans for only $19.99. We hope that you all are happy with this decision :-)

After the launch of the Badman demo, I noticed that some people were a little confused and struggled with the gameplay. Badman has very simple rules, but it is still very challenging. The first couple of stages will be easy to beat, but it gets tougher as you go forward. So, NIS America has created a strategy sharing forum. You can download a dungeon designer program, and then create your perfect dungeon! (To download the dungeon designer program, simply click on “CREATE A DUNGEON MAP” on the right-hand side of the forum page.)

There are some strategies up already, so please visit the dungeon forum if you need some help from fellow Badman fans! Here is one dungeon I created just for fun. It doesn’t help with the strategy, but I just wanted to show how you can make your own dungeon!

Dungeon

When you create the dungeon map, you can export it to a JPG file and save it to your computer. Then e-mail it to badman@nisamerica.com or simply click “SUBMIT A DUNGEON MAP” on the right-hand side of the forum page. Don’t forget to share your strategies and tips!

I hope you guys can connect and help each other kick those heroes’ butts!! :-p

We’ve also come up with some gameplay footage clips, which can be found on the official Badman website. There is only 1 gameplay clip available so far, but more are on their way!

Here is the first stage clip…

Lastly, the cool people over at PluggnPlay.com are holding a contest for Badman. And they have a pretty nice prize, so I hope you guys can check them out and enter the contest to earn an awesome prize!

Omnom

These are OMNOM figures, and just one example of the prizes they are offering. These are made from Pixel Blocks. So cute, right?

I hope you all have fun with the contest!

Thank you for reading my post! I’d really love to reply to all of you. But realistically, I cannot do that. But I will try to reply as much as I can, and as soon as I can! So, please don’t get mad/frustrated/filled with hate if I don’t reply right away… :)

Have a great day!

Best regards,
Nao Zook

CAN YOU KINDLY ANSWER THIS QUESTION:

WAY NIS America LIED WHEN THEY SAID THAT

Cross Edge IS COMING exclusively ON PS3?

HERE IS THE LINK FOR YOU TO ENJOY:

    • Hello ghamdikh1,

I didn\’t know about this fact that Cross Edge will be ported to XBOX360 in Japan until today.
It was a shock for me too…

      Best,
      Nao

  • This joins Patapon 2 on my list of games I’ll buy as soon as they’re on UMD.

An extremely annoying trend is beginning.

  • Poopookakabumbum

    @41

People who want choice are not crybabies.

Kindly remove your head from your rear end and become cognizant of that fact.

Sony and NIS collectively owe consumers:

    A) An apology

    B) The game on UMD.

  • $19.99 for a downloadable game, while Loco Roco 2 was $19.99 and had an actual disk.
I don’t see where the savings are being made, here…

Anyway, what little interest I had in this game is now gone. I’ll just wait for Disgaea 3’s trophies and the release of the rest of its downloadable content.

On that note, when in the world is the last online mode going to come out? Its scoreboard is in the game, but nobody’s playing it because nobody can purchase it!

  • BOOOO! Bad decision. I was looking forward to this game but will not buying it at all now. Sorry NISA but you just cost yourself a purchase as I don not buy full games as download only. This choice is pure fail.

  • Oh wait it’s NOT a choice since I dont have the ability to CHOOSE if I want a Physical Media version or a download.

  • I’m all for game announcements, but I wish someone would announce a game coming out tomorrow.

July 20th is a ways off.

  • Poopookakabumbum

The response at Kotaku is less than overwhelming (no surprise).

    Same with Neogaf. (No Surprise)

NIS – you are only hurting yourself by going DD.

You are alienating consumers and cutting yourself off from a potential market.

Congratulations on butchering the chance of this game’s success.

  • Thanks for the heads up so I can cancel my Amazon order. Wish you guys announced the file size but I have 700MB open so that SHOULDN’T be a problem. This was the best demo and I played it for quite a few hours until I got bored with A/S/S over and over trying to figure out what works, what fails, and what makes the game fun. The $20 price tag just put another game on my summer gaming budget since F2P games eat some of that funds.

People need to get over this “No UMD, No buy” attitude. I have a 2GB stick because all my racers I like to save ghosts (especially auto save ghosts) and it takes up 350kb a track, per mode (speed lap and Time Trial), and per speed class… and that eats up quite a bit a space and memory cards are getting cheaper and your missing out on some great titles that aren’t getting a UMD release (this being one of them.)

Sony is starting to give me reasons to go from my imported Rosy Pink 2000 to a PSP Go in a few months and at the moment it will be based on UMD legacy titles. I’ll make the leap if the content is there and looks like it just may very well be there.

  • Glad to see at least some of you are refusing to buy it. If this stuff actually starts doing well then we’re in trouble. Well, those of us with rubbish download speeds and a love for physical media are anyway

  • That heart looks like dump LOL

    Good game!

  • sony’s flow got stolen and put on the iphone by a different name, why hasnt sony sued them? http://www.ketara.ca/aqua.html

same exact game . sry if this is in the wrong place, i wanted sony to know

  • I’ve been loving the demo of this game.

  • The comment system is brokened.

    Did we break it?

  • The comment system is brokened.

    Did we break it?

  • Can everyone complaining about Cross Edge shut up about it? The game isn’t even made by NIS and NIS America released it when all signs pointed toward the game remaining PS3 exclusive. Now that it’s not the case, you’re giving them a hard time because a COMPILE HEART game isn’t exclusive?

  • Hm… who cares about other review sites when a demo is enough to get a sale…

    My demo grade: A-

What to make it better? Better tutorial… hopefully one that helps you learn the slime movement @ spawn since I can’t get them where I want for the monsters I want. Other than that it is all positive

    1)Very challenging
2)Unique play structure, the soil never starts the same (or I’m blind of 50 patterns, either way)
    3)Score… however that is calculated
    4)Completionist gallery
5)Digital Distrubtion confirmed… yes I value that as a + even though it played no factor in my A-

Just hope I can finish Class of Heroes (even without 100%) in time to get the complexities of this game mastered.

  • What is up with all the damn whining!!!

The only reason why people are complaining about no physical media is b/c they want to buy/sell it used. Get over it! The age of digital distribution is coming and its cause of [DELETED] like you who chose to buy/sell used games forced the industry to move in this direction…

If you want to blame anyone, then blame yourselves and the choices you made in the past!

  • RurouniSaiya-jin

Wow. It’s only going to be $20? Sweet! Definitely going to get this.

  • Is that for real? Are people here just saying this is a great game in the hopes of getting a free download or what?

If this would have come out in the 80’s yeah, that would have been a great game with amazing graphics. But we are now 30 years later.

Are you guys for real, are you a bunch of young people that are just learning DOS or old guys that want to make this style live-on?

You can find better games on the Net for free.

Good luck anyay, because you really need it.

  • Poopookakabumbum

    @59

We don’t need to “get over” anything.

Sony promised us UMDs weren’t going away, and yet here we are with this rubbish.

    Deliver what you promise.

All crap like this does is drive me to buy more games for my DS.

  • Demo was cool, but not really $20 cool.

At least it’s cheaper than it would be for a UMD release ($40, really?!).

Maybe if it goes on sale (PSN store REALLY needs more deal-of-the-week/sales like XBL has started doing) I’d consider it.

  • @Nao: Seriously? I won’t get Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days if it only comes out in a digital download format. After countless hundreds of hours lost on each game across all of the disk and cartridge forms, Disgaea is one of the many series I won’t compromise on.

  • >> Deliver what you promise.

And yet, they’re nearly going DD only with the PSP Go pushing this even more.

Maybe it’s time for you to quit QQing about the loss of an inferior format (UMD FTL) and buy DD or sell your PSP while you have the chance to make money off it.

Your choice, not Sony’s fault you can’t get with the future.

  • 72

No, the reason we want it is because not eveyone has good enough internet speeds for it, and there arre other factors too like download caps, and the fact that you never really “own” the content.

  • @Nao:

I’d like to know about Disgaea 3 getting the last of the DLC too. We’re still waiting on the Class World Command Attack as well as the costume switch between Raspberyl and Sapphire along with the battle with the true form of Baal. Can we expect that before the trophies?

  • Download-only, thank god!!!

There are some games I wouldn’t have bothered to go to a store to buy, and later go through the trouble of finding the UMD in a stack of boxes and putting it in my PSP, and bringing those UMDs every time I went outside just so I wasn’t limited to playing the ONE game that happened to be in my UMD drive at the time, but once they were on my memory stick as a PSN download, I’ve enjoyed them immensely as the bite-sized pieces of enjoyment they were originally intended to be.

Work Time Fun was one example. This game looks to be the next.

  • Some people are so stupid, they think they can say everything because its on the internet

Anyway, i didnt hear about this game before now, ill go download the demo to know what this is all about, it looks fun

  • @79/almighty-slayer:

Don’t even try to give me that slow speed/ dl cap BS. Every PSP comes with built-in WiFi and you can just go to a coffee shop or one of the other MANY locations that offer free wireless broadband internet and get it from there.

As far as your argument on how you never “own” the content… please explain that for me. It’s not like Sony can decide when you can play the game or not. The game stays on your memory stick (or as a backup on a PS3/computer) and it’s never gonna stop working! You can move it over to a PSP as may times as you want (or a different PSP). If you erase it, you can simply re-download it again.

Again, the only reason why you say you have no “ownership” over it is because you can’t sell it…. Stop trying to give BS reasons.

  • I know SCE published this game in Japan, and NIS are publishing it in on the NA PSN, would you have any news about a European release? I mean it’s no big deal for me to buy it on the NA PSN but it would certainly be easier for me to recommend it to friends if they could get it from our Euro PSN accounts. I’ve been interested in this game since I played the Japanese demo and I think it works really well as a download only title.

  • Any of you who post on the blog must have a connection to the internet and you are aware the PSN store also works on the Computer so why the hell would you ever have any problem downloading a videogame. I mean downloading games is fun. I download PS3 games all the time from PSN and when I get the PSP GO! I plan on doing the exact same except with every game. I never have to leave or i just go to any wifi hot spot i mean thats incredible.

  • @86
I don’t really like downloadable games, but it’s one of the few ways to get smaller console games these days. Without DD, Mega Man 9 would never have happened in the first place…

But that doesn’t mean I like having a ton of games stuck on my PS3. I’d rather have them release PSN compilations on disk so I can clear out my hard drive, since mandatory and optional disk based game installs are causing about as much usage as the actual PSN games I have.

  • Poopookakabumbum

Hey Nao – instead of being sorry, why not release the game on disc?

You already said you weren’t going for a DD release anyway.

There *is* a way to rectify the problem.

    Otherwise – NO SALE.

  • i don’t see what the big problem with no umd hell i prefer it. If you buy the umd you have carry it around and if you lose it or something happens to it your screwed and have to buy it again. Plus there’s no why this kind of game would be still in store in 6 months and will drive up prices. Downloadable only mean you can download it as many times as you want and your saving money doesnt make sense why everyone hates it, get over it everything going to be like this in the future.

  • I love the retro graphics, but the demo felt way too convoluted to me. It was hard to understand the gameplay through text and the few things I did understand I forgot as soon as I started playing.

  • Poopookakabumbum

    @89

If you prefer it, that’s fine.

Let the people that prefer UMDs have their choice too.

  • I will NEVER

  • At the end of the day all I care about is getting a good game. While I love having physical media, frankly, I’m running out of room.

I’ll be picking up Badman DAY ONE without a doubt. LOVED the demo and cannot wait for the full release.

Nao, please tell me we have a slim chance of seeing the sequel brought over to these shores.

  • whoops was gonna say I will NEVER buy a download only game…ever. I don’t care how popular DD will become in the future. I will pay money for something unless I can hold it in my hands and know it’s actually MINE. Theres just too many ways DD can screw you over. Yeah it may be cheaper for the developers not putting it on a disk…but I guarentee you we will never see any of those savings ourselves.

The ONLY thing DD is good for is making developers pay less to produce it so they can make more profits

  • I for one think that the PS Blog needs a ‘user reporting’ system to press mods to delete certain people’s comments. Some of the nasty attitudes here, directed towards Nao, are disheartening.

Some of you should be ashamed.

  • @Nao Zook

It looks like Square-Enix is bailing on the PS3 release of The Last Remnant. Any chance of NISA saving the day by picking up the port?

  • @Koroshiya_Keefu

Most of the comments Isee with nasty attitudes are NOT directed at Nao but at the developers decision to go download only…but hey if you’re against freedom of speech I have this lovely little piece of cloth with a hammer anc cycle for you.

  • I need to get a psp stat

  • PSN only = no buy

  • Ouch 20$? this feels like a cheaper game than that but i am willing to buy it. the only thing is i have a reversed physiology. i spend my CASH more than i do my Credits on PSN. if y’all could sell a voucher it would be fantastic. PSN cards are hard to come by and thats why Cash is a WAY more viable option than Credit.

  • Squee…. this makes me so happy….

the name of the game initally caught my eye and i had to know more about it, and when the demo came it was so cool. i play it alot just caz it is cool. some times games don’t need to be flashy to be awesome….

so i kept up for july looking around to se when it was comming out and i couldn’t find anything. no matter where i looked. and now it is comming to the psn. that is so awesome. i cna’t wait to get it on the 16th!!!

Do you guys have any idea how big the file size will be??
