PlayStation Eye Chat: Shatter for PSN

Posted by Chris Morell // Senior Specialist, Social Media

Man, somehow we missed the incredibly cool upcoming PSN game, Shatter, at E3. Thankfully, the kind folks at developer Sidhe agreed to participate in the PSB’s first-ever video interview using the PlayStation Eye. And considering the company resides down in New Zealand (insert generic Flight of the Conchords quip here), it’s just about the only way to get them talking in-person.

Shatter is like Arkanoid on steroids…and we mean that in the most positive way. Here, Managing Director Mario Wynands talks about the game’s slick graphics, power-ups and unique push/pull gameplay that makes this PSN game the real deal.

And what do you think of the PS3 Video Chat format via the Eye? Drop a comment and let us know…it could be a great way to conduct interviews with folks from across the globe.

What games, besides the obvious choices like Arkanoid and Breakout, are influencing the gameplay and visual design of Shatter? It seems a bit familiar and I’m not sure if it’s Sidhe’s style or if there is something I’m overlooking.

Gameplay was also influenced by horizontal shooters such as RType.

Graphically, the look just arose from wanting something clean, but with depth.

Wow, this looks pretty cool! I really like the PS Eye Chat. Just only if the PS3 had Skype on it….we could literally call anywhere and have voice/video chat, even to users on a PC.

lol sorry if that message seemed a bit odd Mario, Laura used to be in my team at Datacom.

Shatter looks amazing btw, been loving the Sidhe games since Stacey Jones Rugby League. Can’t wait for this one!

@Mario

I’m another person who wants In-Game XMB MUSIC support!

Please try to implement it before release! It gives me an extra push for me to get the game.
