This update most likely is only to fix a well known kernel exploit and impede PSP homebrewers.

So Eric, any idea when the 32gb MS Pro Duo is going to be released this year? I heard nothing of it at E3.

I do know that you can create sub-folders I just don’t think it goes deep enough. At this point it only goes 1 sub-folder deep and I think that they could do much better than that.
As for the whole AT&T 2-wire issue well I of course would just like it to work without having to buy extra hardware but the other thing is I also have a Linksys WRT54GS Speedbooster Router but even though I could use it as a Wireless Bridge or whatever you call it, it’s wireless signal range is extremly weak and I live in a 2 story building with computers both downstairs & upstairs. I depend on the strong Wireless signal that the 2-wire provides at this time. I also don’t know how to turn off the Wireless signal coming from the 2-wire so it wouldn’t conflict with the Linksys so I am kinda stuck there.

@Tjoeb123
There currently is a way to sort your games & possibly game add-ons and that is to create unique folders for what you want to put into it. For example I have several folders under my Game XMB and those are
- PS3 Beta’s
- PS3 Demo’s
- PSN Game’s
- Qore
- etc…etc…etc…
I am sure you can do this with add-on’s as well. The way you assign games or whatever to unique folders is simple. All you do is press the triangle button on the thing you want sorted and go to Information. Once there you will see a blank area in the Album space. Name the Album whatever you see fit (i.e. PS3 Demo’s) and it will create a folder called PS3 Demo’s. Repeat process with all the things you want sorted.
I hope that was what you were talking about and helped you.

@ Enforcer_X
I believe you were talking about what I wrote about Wireless N support. If you were let me explain what I mean.
All I mean is at this time the PSP uses a 802.11b transmitter & reciever while the PS3 uses a 802.11g transmitter & reciever and while 802.11g is backwards compatible with 802.11b the PSP would have faster wireless capability’s with downloads and remote play lag wouldn’t occur as often even with the right settings. It would just be a more even platform so I am hoping when the PSP2 & PS4 come out that they will both have 802.11n instead of the PSP2 having 802.11g & the PS4 having 802.11n. Plus supposedly 802.11n is supposed to allow speeds like what you get when your connected via an ethernet port, or so I heard.

Also pie55 I think the PS Home on psp is a good idea.
Like have an add-on so you can plug in a PS2 or PS3 controller to walk around easier.

This is very small but is there any chance that one of these updates will FIX the issue with the “Shift” Key functioning as a “CAPS” Key?¿?
I know is minor, but what’s the point of having the Shift key there, if I have to press the Shift key again, to get my keyboard back to lower case letters?¿?

I am playing PS one games through my PS3 by remote play. For some reason when I go to remap buttons on the PSP so that the games are actually playable, it will not let me customize the button layout like it will with the downloaded PS One games. Please fix this issue. Thank you.

No wonder why CF is so popular… most of the stuff asked here for the psp is already available with CF… LOL
Personally, I would like to see an update in which I can use REAL MUSIC PLAYLISTS, not just one per folder, if you get the idea. Just like computer playlists, those that can include any song inside the Music folder or inside the subfolders. I don’t like the current volume limit, is way too low when you go out (for example, downtown). You should raise it at least 25% and maybe make it only available when you have headphones connected, so the speakers don’t wear out, just like the extra bright level when you plug the psp.
181
doom_angel_2009 | June 16th, 2009 at 3:47 am
I would also be nice to have more equalizations or custom equalizations, an alarm for the psp (at least in suspended mode), and the ability to turn off the screen (not just the backlight) when you listen to music to save power – I’m not going to be watching the screen while I’m walking XD. An option to replace the game sound/music with our own music would be great, as some game levels loop the same song over and over again, it’s freaking monotonous. I guess some people would like to see support for .lrc files while listening to music, c’mon, even those generic, dubious-quality mp3 players have it. Don’t tell me this is impossible since you know all this has been done in the homebrew scene.
With at least 2 of these things your update could be called REAL, what the hell is “System software stability”?!

hey I don’t really know what all the updates do I just spent money on a wireless router so I could kick back and watch videos from the couch and the first 20 mins I had this thing conected to the internet it was downloading updates. I was excited and all be hold all that downloading it did nothing was updated for the flash player. And all I can do is wait for sony to upload it? I could’ve bought a laptop for what I spent on the PSP. They need to do something.

5.5 was an awesome firmware update and I thank you for it. But please where the hell is Flash 9 or even Flash 10? Like everything on the internet uses 9. The big put-down for apple + the iphone + the DS, well at least for me, has been the UI and the graphics.
Add a half-decent browser and better video playback support (which in some cases can cost to get the right decoder packages to play around with, true, but it may just help sales a bit). The PSP community is bating its breath for a better PSP. Where is it?
