Sack it to Me: The E3 / ICO Edition

Posted by Mark Valledor // Marketing Manager, SCEA

Team ICO Pack available now!

For those of you who saw the fun teaser trailer last Friday on www.mediamolecule.com, you know that the Team ICO pack is hitting the store this week. A set of five costumes, plus some stickers and sound effects, all based on Team ICO’s classic and widely loved PlayStation games ICO, and Shadow of the Colossus.

Over the course of the week Media Molecule revealed the costumes, and took a closer look at the games that they came from. You can read each individual post and look at the costumes in more detail over on the Media Molecule blog.

The Team ICO Pack is available right now on the PSN Store and costs $5.99

Team ICO Pack contents

  • Ico: Hat, Tabard, Trousers (pic)
  • Yorda: Dress, Wig
  • Wander: Wig, Tabard
  • Gauis Colossus: Head, Torso, Feet, Skin
  • Quadratus Colossus: Head, Wander doll, Hooves, Skin

This pack also contains a selection of stickers, and some new sound effects.

LBP ICO Costume Pack

Each costume is also available individually for $1.99 as well!

LBP at E3 2009

LBP was well represented at E3 this year. LittleBigPlanet PSP made a sweet debut on the PSPgo and was playable for the first time at the show earning great impressions and award nominations from both IGN and 1UP! As many of you know this title will offer the complete LBP Experience, now letting people Play, Create, and Share on the go and I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s looking amazing on the PSP. If you didn’t see the trailer yet, here you go:

Also, popular creators from the LBP Community, Lucas Sparks (LittleBigDeadSpace) and David Dino (Azure Palace) took booth visitors through awesome user-generated LBP levels on the show floor and got to rub elbows with some familiar faces. If you haven’t played their levels yet, you are definitely missing out.

Check out David hanging out with Qore host Veronica Belmont-

LBP Community w/ Veronica Belmont 2 @ E3

Lucas ended up doing some interviews with some fansites.

Overall, it was great to have these two representing our community and can’t wait until our next event to invite more of you out.

Sackcast

Sackcast is a new community podcast, and they released their first episode last week. In the premiere episode, the guys discuss some community levels, ideas for their own levels, and answer a few questions from the Mm community team. Check it out below, oh and don’t forget to head over to their website too!

LittleBigHouse

At the start of last week we received an email from a very proud father. His Son Ben had been tasked with decorating his house as part of a town Gala. He chose to decorate his house LittleBigPlanet style – check it out! Ben will be crowned for his creative efforts, we should probably get him to come and decorate our office.

LittleBigPodcast Interviews Media Molecule!

To celebrate their 20th Episode, our friends at LittleBigPodcast scored a great interview with Media Molecule. Take a look!

This pack to me is a let down. Just sounds, stickers and MORE costumes. wow, the only costumes I’ve purchased were the MGS ones and even now I get bored of them. What makes me think I won’t get bored of the next ones. Sure I’ll buy costumes maybe once in a blue moon if I ever feel like it’s worth it such as it comes with level pack or they are in a level pack such as the snake costume being in the MGS pack which fit, so I bought. However, I feel like MM isn’t caring too much about us anymore and is thinking about their $$ while I do agree they need it to run their company but if you guys sold LEVEL PACKS then you would get more money! I really thought the ICO pack would have levels but I guess I was wrong. *Sigh* What ever happened to the Create, Play, and share MM? I guess us players will only do that now…so sad…so sad.

To be honest the skins for LBP are a huge joke… stop stealing us Sony! Every week they have something new in store that relate to the purchasing of LBP costumes… get real for once Sony.

I want a LBP PSP demo. When you’re ready for it.

Like everyone else — I’m only interested in new levels. I don’t care one bit about dressing up my sackboy, and I’m pretty sure you’re just trying to squeeze as many sticker packs as you can until you release that importing sticker from .jpg patch you promised last year.

This costume-stuff is looking more and more like milking, release new levels like the MGS pack. Or at least reduce the costumes price so it won’t seem as much like milking.

Reading some of the comments in here it seems instead of levels “inspired” by obscure celebrities a much better idea would be to use The Patch as a showcase for the best user made levels, including levels based around certain themes or Sony IPs (eg. Ico, God of War) etc. There are already hundreds of great levels to choose from and rewards for contributors could be exclusive in game assets, Sackboys etc. They could be chosen by the LBP community, fansites, gaming websites, developers etc.

I really don’t see why this hasn’t been done and don’t mind if you use my idea. It is a wasted opportunity.

Also why hasn’t Sony began selling the Sackboy toys that were given away by SCEE? Really, the marketing dept. is doing a poor job.

Why is MEZCO no longer producing the LBP toys?
Are they going to be picked up by another manufacturer, or has the idea been scrapped?

acmilanboy  |  June 13th, 2009 at 8:41 am

MM pay attention, people wont buy anything unless u guys actually release level packs. These things are not wanted and extremely priced.

Liamario  |  June 13th, 2009 at 10:10 am

I think the Ico licensce was squandered. You really could have done a lot more with it than just a few costumes and stickers. Would it be too much to ask for a few levels or something.
Oh and one more thing……….. ONLINE CO-OP CREATION!!!

67

darthlego  |  June 13th, 2009 at 6:30 pm

I have bough all of the DLC up untill two weeks ago. I need to save up money to buy a lot of new games coming out. I think I will buy them later on, but for now I will only buy level packs and limited time items.

68

Ausohoj  |  June 13th, 2009 at 10:02 pm

Will you F’ing idiots stop complaing!!!! For all you know, MM is working on a F’ing EPIC Pack that will blow MGS out of the water! Seriously! Media Molecule will realease a level pack when they realease a level pack!! B****ing, moaning and whining isn’t gonna spead it up at all!! Geez!! seriously!!

69

Ausohoj  |  June 13th, 2009 at 10:04 pm

Oh.. and online co op is coming soon. the beta for it is starting in like a week. so that’s gonna be awesome and eliminate a million people complaing. but there will still be a billion people complaing about level packs. :(

I’m going to sound like a chump, but oh well…here goes….I STILL NEED to play Shadow of Colossus AND Ico. It’s sad, I know. I acknowledge how awesome they look and still need to play them after all these years.

71

JaKhris  |  June 14th, 2009 at 8:03 am

@70 Jeremy092387 :
I know what you mean. A friend made me want to have them, and I bought them a few weeks ago, and I’ve played a bit of Ico. For a PS2 game, it’s beautiful.

But that doesn’t change the fact that these LBP costumes are damn expensive. :(

72

Ramage  |  June 14th, 2009 at 10:41 am

I have to say that even with all this AWEOSOME content…I’m not buying anything. The only thing I’ve actually bought was the MGS pack and do you know why?

New levels, thats why. We need more packs that have new levels and possibly new devices(like the paintball gun). That’s where its at. I just don’t see the point in buying costumes to run around the same levels.

73

vherostar  |  June 14th, 2009 at 12:12 pm

What happened to the free costumes??? why are we constantly force to pay for them all the time now? They are ridiculously overpriced for what you get.

74

TwinDad  |  June 15th, 2009 at 7:58 am

I did think about that last week. What happened to the free costumes. They were usually better then the pay ones. As long as we get them now and then, it adds value to the game. The $6 for stickers and costumes is getting old.

And Mark, we already know what’s “hitting” the store this week, it was posted on Thursday and your writing this on Friday. Either post earlier or put it as a reminder.

I just noticed the guy on the left of LB podcast has a Mission Space T-Shirt, for the Mission Space ride at Disney World. I got a hat from that awesome ride! =D It’s like a space flight simulator. Now where’s my crown? =D =P

76

anticulture  |  June 22nd, 2009 at 4:34 pm

I was really hoping for a Team ICO level pack. Alas, only overpriced costumes.

LBP support makes me sad. :(
