Capcom Classics - Logo

Hey PlayStation fans, I’m Ryan, Capcom’s newest Bearer of Good News. Today, I’m here to bring you word of our upcoming PlayStation classics, a library of classic games being brought to you on the PlayStation Network. We’ve sorted through our archives and hand-selected the games that rocked the industry. All of these upcoming classics will be released over the PSN, and will be playable on your PSP.

Coming up first is Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed, available tomorrow. The game is a collection of arcade classics from gaming’s glorious past. Pay homage to the best of the arcades, like Final Fight, Bionic Commando, Street Fighter, and Magic Sword. Prove your old-school dominance with twenty full arcade titles. Check out the full list of included games here.

Later this summer, look forward to Fate/Unlimited Codes. Capcom’s fighting game masters have brought one of Japan’s most popular animes exclusively to the PSN, ready for the new PSPgo. High-flying combos and fast-paced versus action show off the game’s gorgeous 3D graphics, and it’s a fighting-game experience you can’t get anywhere else.

Next, keep your eyes out for more gems from Capcom, being brought directly to the PSN. Check out the full list below, including PSone and UMD Legacy titles, and come back often for more info on individual release timing.

  • More overpriced UMD Legacy games coming right up!! Yeehaw. I could just get Patapon 2 if I wanted to spend $20, it’s a new game.

  • i want ghost and goblins
    to play on my ps3

  • EU store? :)

  • finally this is great..hopefully the ps2 capcom games will be able to be played soon as well if sony hurrys up and brings bc back

  • Wow thanks Capcom!

“Hey PlayStation fans, I’m Ryan, Capcom’s newest Bearer of Good News.”

No more John? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Please tell me you’ll be giving out codes too. :(

  • This is my first ever comment on the PSB and I hope it gets answered even though it’s fallen to page 4:

Is the Resident Evil 2 game the Original Edition or the Dual Shock Edition?

The Dual Shock Edition would sell far more than the Original Edition. I for one will pass on it if it is the Original Edition and will continue my seemingly neverending search of my local used game/thrift stores for the Dual Shock Edition.

    • Interesting question. I\’m checking right now to nail down an answer. Welcome to the blog!

  • crazy update tomorrow.. imma be broke woot!!!

  • Can we get a patch for 1942 that adds trophies and game launching from Home? It’s such a great take on the classic game that looks and sounds pretty great, I’m sure a trophy patch would introduce it to a whole new long tail of purchases!

Until the PS1 emulator meets the upscaling/FSAA quality of the open source PCSX emulator, I’ll never pay for these titles. It’s sooo much better to boot into Linux and play these games in PCSX. Maybe asking for texture updates is too much to ask for, but the emulator improvements already present in the open source emulator are really a necessity to provide the value for the money.

When PS2 games become downloadable, I hope they launch with most of the visual enhancements already present in PCSX2 (http://pcsx2.net) for most games (as the Xbox360 backward compatibility did at launch).

  • Ok capcom you already have me sold for 3-4 games on this list. If you want more of my money I would to see some Dino crisis 2,mega man legends 1,2 and breath of fire 3,4. Come on make me a poor man. Also I was wondering 2 things. 1. is the RE2 game going to be the dual shock version? and 2. Are these games coming out this month?

  • Can we expect RE2 to be the Dualshock edition? Also will RE2, RE3, and Dino Crisis be priced at $9.99?

  • Awesome list. Looking forward to the Classic Collection.

I’m playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on my PSP now and loving it btw. :)

  • RurouniSaiya-jin

Yes! Can’t wait to get RE 2, RE 3: Nemesis and Dino Crisis.

  • Thank you for re-releasing more PSOne games. Dino Crisis 2 would be nice I never got around to it because I had just bought a PS2 and was playing launch games.

  • Cool,Nice to see Capcom showing some love for the Playstation. Thanks for bringing Fate/Unlimited to the PSN. Sony, when the game comes out, put the Fate/stay night anime on Playstation video store. Thanks Ryan for this.

uh, Ryan. I know Capcom is the Japanese publisher for the Grand Theft Auto series. Is GTA: Chinatown War coming out in Japan soon (It’s coming to the PSP). Will they release it in Japan when the PSP versions come out?

  • Great list of games, I will definitely be downloading RE 2 and 3 as well as dino crisis. Please bring Mega Man Legends out as well, that’s still my favorite PS1 game and I would love to be able to play it on my PSP.

  • Capcom coming out swinging with retro classics.

  • Sweet!

  • Yahoo! Dino Crisis finally arrives on PSN. Let’s all get ourselves a copy and support the game to let Capcom know we still want a new one.

By the way Mcdougall, do you know if there is any news of Dino Crisis sequel, is it in talks or works? Anything?

  • Excited about Dino Crisis.

Mcdougall, could you tell us if there are any plans to bring back Dino Crisis, as in a new game?

*My previous post didn’t show, so sorry for double post if does show up later.

  • Awww I wish we could play those PSP games on the PS3
    Specially those Megaman ones.

  • UMD legacy titles are nice, but can you please bring some new PSP titles out? I’m specifically thinking of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (obviously without the “HD”, but the redrawn graphics would be an upgrade nonetheless, and a multi-player release of Super Turbo would be awesome fun for when I get together with friends that have a PSP).

    Please make it happen…

  • You guys need to release Megaman Legends for ps1. Its a great game not many people got to play.

  • Awesome stuff!

  • Can we get Megaman Legends 1 & 2 please!? That was the best series to me…

  • Please release Megamn Legends 1 & 2

  • That’s great, to be able to re-purchase games I already own, on Sony and/or other platforms. This is such great news for the PlayStation Portable, old games that came to the PS1 and PSP ages ago.

Who needs new games when I can look forward to $9.99 games (as shown with Resident Evil: Director’s Cut, Metal Gear Solid, and Final Fantasy VII) that have the same or less features they did under their original releases.

Then there’s these UMD Legacy games that cost anywhere from $5.99 to $24.99. Sort of like how Loco Roco UMD Legacy is $22.99, but new at Game Crazy it’s $19.99 and used is $9.99. Or how UMD Legacy Ultimate Ghouls N’ Ghosts is $19.99 on PSN and $18.99 new at Game Crazy. None of this makes sense.

Then again, taking something, removing value and making it cost more is the Sony way of doing things.

Like as if Dino Crisis 2 (PS1) and Dino Crisis 3 (XBOX) were not insulting enough?

  • is marvel vs capcom 2 comin out too on psn tomarrow with capcom lovee

  • this is very nice…but WHERE IS MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2!!!!!! i woke up early on monday to buy it…and it wasent on psn…please like give me a date.

  • @rmcdougall –

CCCR will be available for $19.99. Thanks for asking!

CCCR is available new on UMD for $19.99. No case, no UMD, no instruction manual, saves me nothing? Thanks Capcom! Will you over-charge me for more games in the future?

  • I guess I was extremely lucky to purchase new-physical copies of both Reloaded and Remixed for under twenty-dollars, a couple years back. The collections are wonderful and I enjoyed unlocking items. These titles are worthy additions to someone’s PSP game collection.

Twenty-dollars is fine for a physical copy, but too high of a price for downloadable content. Twelve-dollars may seem like an odd price point, but I would suggest it’s a good balance between low “$10” and high “$15 to $20”.

I do a lot of impulse buys and price is the biggest factor when I add funds and confirm my PSN purchase. Digital products MUST be much lower than it’s physical counterpart. $12! Get it! and implement it! Ben Judd was on the right path when he stood behind the ten-dollar BC:Rearmed price point. Publisher’s need to find that balance.

  • Hell yea!! Definitely getting RE 2! :D

  • Are RE 2 and 3 going to be 10 dollars like 1 was? will they be the same version, or will they be slightly improved in anyway? also, when do they come out?

  • great work! BUT I have a quick question on how you guys plan to handle SFA3?

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max (UMD Legacy)

this is for psp and I know this but will you guys ever release SFA3 (Playstation Legacy) on PSN? despite having plans to release UMD Legacy?

  • @TreyTable: you sure have been crying throughout this whole blog entry. You should make a blog to whine moar.

  • sweet skillz cap. It’s about time we can replay these gems. Day one purchase for all of them.I want strider 2 next time please.

On a side note, thanks sony to finally understand that some people might want to play some ps1 games on their psps. How about chrono trigger and chrono cross now??????????

  • Capcom is too f$%#$! awesome!

  • I still have the original Dino Crisis but an old friend of mine has been “borrowing” my copy of Dino Crisis 2 for the past eight years. Give me Dino Crisis 2 on PSN and I’ll give you my money.

Hell, give me Dino Crisis 4 and I’ll give you even more of my money.

  • I got so excited when I saw the words POWER and STONE in this blog. Is there any possibility of this game being ported so it can be played on the ps3? Please respond and give us hope!

  • I agree with omnilaw
Where’s MHFU?! That would be totally awesome. (Not to mention, I would totally buy a PSP Go)

And if/when Adhoc party does finally come out in the states, can you all fix the connection thing? If you could have the ps3 on wifi and connected to psp, that would be awesome.

  • You should port some of those UMD games to the PSN, so we could play them on our ps3´s, like Maverick Hunter and Powered Up. That way you would reach a bigger audience, and only will have to invest in the port process-.

  • How about the marvel super heroes. Or marvel super heroes vs Street Fighter or x-men vs street fighter? Street Fighter Alpha 3 (THE GREATEST FIGHTING GAME EVER MADE!!!!!!) Please tell me those games are coming to the PSN

  • FRAK YEAH, DINO CRISIS! Loved that game. Wish i had a PSP GO NOW! But will probably get this when i maybe buy it. Capcom you rock out with your c*** out!!! :D

  • And peepz, how is it to play these games again on a psp? So i can argue with myself to get one.

  • Very nice, now if only other companies would follow in your footsteps. Keep it up guys, you’re milking my wallet dry! =(

  • @rmcdougall –

I work in retail, and with the impending PSPgo on the horizon, I’d like to know if there will be a way for current UMD owners of titles such as these to get the digital versions for little or nothing? Or, on second thought, is such a program something Capcom can do, or is it all up to Sony?

  • this is my first time commenting on the psblog, and i must say thanks capcom!!
this is awesome, i will DEFINITELY get RE2, and i would get RE3, but since i have it the original ps1 game, i wont need another. Keep up the great work capcom!!!

  • ah ok so (playstation legacy) are ps1 games,
thanks Capcom, great list of games,
will we ever be able to download and play ps2 games on the ps3?

  • I just bought both CCC Remix and Reloaded not even two weeks ago. Is there any way I can trade them in to get the download version?
