Actually Japanese Blu-rays DO play in the USA and actually most of North and South America.
Also the digital service has NOTHING to do with Blu-ray region coding and everything to do with legal and copyright matters.

I doubt it’s Sony holding up the process.
It’s all the content copyright holders trying to control control and its release in various regions and the costs associated with it.
I am sure Sony would love to roll the video store out worldwide. But it’s the following companies holding the process up.

Also if you want to complain about content missing complain directly to the company that owns the content as well as Sony.
Tell them you want to see it on the PSN.

For all the EU players here you go https://blog.eu.playstation.com/ go complain on that site please. You want to have your voices heard go there not here on the blog.US.playstation.com forums.

Now for the Hulu problem, i pray sony didn’t tell them to block us to increase their video sells. That would be pretty low on Sony’s part but it is business so i have mixed feelings on the matter.

If you want money make a friday/saturday night movie night for people and charge 50 cents or a dollar in Home in the movie threater allow those who have purchased tickets to download it early and view it in Home full screen no bars or anything stupid.

Sony didn’t block Hulu.
Hulu blocked the PS3 web browser.
Like I said before it’s the content copyright holders making Hulu block access to a TV connected device (PS3).
They don’t want you to watch TV for free when you can be paying for it!
But it was not Sony who blocked Hulu.

If you really want it check out running PlayOn on your PC to serve Hulu to your PS3.

I;m confused, I have a US account, but I cant see any link to go to the video store through the playstation store. How do I access it?

I suspect Sony blocks access based on IP address rather than account region to restrict access to allowed regions.

Sony – The CRTC (Canada’s version of the FCC) is holding hearings *this week* about ISP throttling that could directly affect the quality of PSN online gaming in Canada. And a couple months ago the CRTC held hearings about Canadian-content restrictions of internet video that would directly affect the PSN video store if Sony ever offered in Canada. I would expect these to be of interest to Sony, but Sony was been quiet. Google has participated. Google has made recommendations to our government, and their opinions known to the public. But I haven’t heard a peep out of Sony! It’s like Sony doesn’t care about Canada. Since Sony doesn’t care about Canadian gamers, I guess they won’t mind if Canadians switch to another console, and pirate all the TV shows that Sony doesn’t bother to sell on PSN in Canada!

By your logic MS, Nintendo, Apple, Yahoo and every other internet connected company should be up in arms for Canada, which just won’t happen.
To say they don’t care because they haven’t said anything about throttling doesn’t mean they aren’t still fighting for you.
Maybe they invest in a special interest group fighting to stop throttling. Did you research that? Maybe you should help the fight. Contact your local and national leaders and tell them how you feel. Don’t expect someone else to do everything for you.

Hey, how about you guys take a break from store content updates for like two days and give us dynamic updating playstation network badges? how hard could that possibly be? EU PSN members have them already, don’t they? Why not us in the states?

Also need more UFC, The Ultimate Fighter and MMA programs. Old Pride fights in HD…..oh I would buy lots of those, especially if you get a fair DRM like the games DRM and unlike what you have now.

I’m just putting it out there, but i’m a Canadian PSP/PS3 user who is prepared to buy the PSP Go! in October. I was upset that there’s no trophies on PSP Go! but i can deal with that, what i can’t deal with is the lack of a video store in Canada. I would gladly pay for movies and shows via the PS3 AND PSP, but i assure you this, no Canadian Video Store by October 1st, NO PSP Go! And I know I’m not alone!!!!
