This Week in PlayStation Home: BUZZ! and Fight Night Space Launches, and More!

This Thursday, July 16th, will bear witness to a tremendous content update in the ever-growing world of PlayStation Home. In fact, there’s so much set up to go down in-world this week that we can barely fit it all in without breaking our word count agreement. So to keep things cool with our friends here over at the PS Blog, we’ll cut out the regularly-scheduled blabbing and get straight to the point.

We think you’ll be stoked to see that the long-awaited BUZZ! HQ is launching. Here, you can meet up with friends new and old and take part in a massive 64-player game of BUZZ! trivia. This content is fed into the space via MyBuzzQuiz.com – a site where you can create your own trivia questions for your fellow BUZZ! fanatics to tackle. So be sure to create an account and start uploading your trickiest trivia. Then get your butt into Home, hook up with your brainiest peeps, enter the BUZZ! HQ, and start racking up the prizes. Rest assured that we’ll be taking advantage of this sweet new space by regularly scheduling some truly awesome events. Keep your eyes on the Home Clubs and Events sub-forum over at PlayStation.com for more info.

EA SPORTS continues to demonstrate their leadership in the world of sports competition by updating their fan-favorite EA SPORTS Complex. This week they are dropping some new goods on us and opening up a space for their hit Fight Night franchise. This swanky boxing-themed night club space launches with an interactive DJ game, rewards, and plenty of places to chill with your nearest and dearest Home-boys and Home-girls. Note that this is just phase one of the Fight Night space (there are tons of mini-game updates and the new virtual items scheduled for near future deployment) so you’ll need to make sure that you check in on this here blog for the latest updates.

Those of you who pick up the Namco Museum Essentials from the PlayStation Store will find that these games are unlocking a bunch of rewards in Home. We’re talking Dragon Spirit and Xevious: Resurrection arcade cabinets, for Crom’s sake! And, yes, the Namco Bandai Arcade will be coming to SCEA Home at a later date, so have no fear. We’ll keep you updated on this here Blog thingy when the space is ready to launch.

See you in Home!

I dont want open voice chat back. It was broken and I dont want to hear everyone talk. Just pull up the phone call option and call your friend then you can voice chat with them while you are both in home. PS you have to hold R2 to talk. Great update, I still want to see the home that was invisioned before the beta, Trophy Room, Video streaming and music streaming, in appartment gamelaunching. Keep up the good work!

  • For Buzz, will we EVER be able to select ONLY the rounds we actually want to play?? Nobody enjoys the broken pie fight or time bomb modes. I actually regret buying the game since they don’t you play just what you want to play.

  • Are we ever going to get details on the Killzone Throne Room? The last comments I read were that we would hear something in late June and the date has come and pass?

I would also like to know why we should have to pay $4 to be able to view or place pictures from our PS3 HD in Home? Along that same point why is it that when Home was first shown years ago a Sony TV was shown that was playing content either from the HD or streaming but has not made it yet to Home? Is this going to be another $4 to $8 add on for the feature or will it never come?

I also wonder about the US version of the Home Theater. You read the boards and see pictures that the European version has 8 screens showing different content and we are still stuck on 1.

Has there even been any discussion to replace the “empty” stores in the mall with direct access to the PSN. There is an already empty space and the Stuff store has had nothing in it since the closed beta. Is there any chance of putting say the PSN “Game” store in one shop and the “Video” in the other or even a Music store in?

  • Club Fight Night has frozen my PS3 three times now. Can you guys please look into thi? I really want to try the DJ game.

  • Until trophies and launching for all games are put into Home its a complete waste of time.

Sony needs to work on bringing REAL OS features to the PS3, like Cross Game Voice Chat, and start playing catch-up to the competition.

  • Hey Locust, I was wondering if you know when the trophy room for Playstation Home comes out?

I’ve been waiting for this for a while ever since Playstation Home came but, but I haven’t gotten any recent news about it.

AHMEN! Dude, I’ve said the very same thing so many times on this blog. Game launching from PS Home across the board would be sweet. Until then, I don’t bother logging into home unless they are adding new rooms and features.

    Here’s a good question for Locust_Star.
What’s the point of these specific game title rooms once the games been out?

  • Thanks Locust_Star.

Been waiting since they announced the Buzz space a while back.

Think this should be a lot of fun.

  • Wow, those robots are awesome!

  • This sounds great!!

  • This Buzz seems cool!
    Are you ready?
    Are you ready?
    Fight!!!

  • Im soooo glad they added Buzz. now i jus gotta dwnload it. everyone add me

  • I’m sorry Locust_Star, but the game launching should be pushed by sony not us the consumers.

The third party developers have not been listening to us in years why should they start now. I as a PS3 user feel it’s sony’s job to get more game launching and other home content in place from developers for me to visit and use and buy.

And i also find it very unsatisfying that home content is released almost 6 months or longer after the game is released. Most people have usually moved on from that game to another game by the time you release home content for an older game. especially for big titles.

  • wow i missed so many updates from HOME since i left NY for vacation
