The Curtain Rises on the 10-Screen Movie Theater in PlayStation Home, MotorStorm Game Launching Crashes In, and Fat Princess Needs Cake!

Greetings Home-boys and Home-girls! It’s time for another PlayStation Home update

We’re proud to announce another major core space update. The Movie Theater brings you ten times as much exciting content [including from the PS.Blog! –Jeff] with a brand-new 10-screen layout, a new lobby, and the ability to unlock rewards in select screening rooms. Be sure to check out the screening rooms often – you never know when one of them will be giving something away. Stay tuned for lots of exclusive new videos over the coming months, including the future possibility of full-length TV shows or movies, with new features debuting on a regular basis.

But that’s not all! The Burn Zombie Burn space brings its classic cartoony graveyard style to PlayStation Home with a crypt for lounging in while you watch Burn Zombie Burn videos, a zombie-infested maze mini-game where you’ll be challenged to find your way out before you get zombified, and as always, an exclusive reward. Don’t get lost in the graveyard!

Next, the first wave of MotorStorm content will be swerving into PlayStation Home with MotorStorm Pacific Rift Game Launching functionality topping the bill. If you’re new to Game Launching, click here for more info on how this great functionality works.

There will be more MotorStorm news coming your way very soon; in the meantime, check out the screenshots below for a tantalizing snippet of some of the great MotorStorm content coming to PlayStation Home over the coming weeks.

Next (and this is very exciting) as of tomorrow, we will be launching a new event in PlayStation Home – the Fat Princess “Quest for Cake.” Based upon the brilliant PSN title which launches today, all you have to do is click on the PlayStation Events Space chip on your World Map to join in this very special confectionary quest.

In the fully redecorated space you will find eight pieces of cake, locked away in cages. To unlock the cake and feed your Princess you need to search the space high and low for clues. If you do manage to unlock all eight pieces of cake, and feed the Princess, a special reward will be yours – the Fat Princess’ very own throne for your personal apartment. Here are a few screenshots of the space to whet your appetite…

See you in Home!

  • Cool, so when does it update?

  • Nice!

  • i want fat princess :( when will the us store be updated 2day?

  • Great update! When will it hit?

    Keep it up guys!

  • Update sounds good. Stuff like gameplay videos, making of vids, hints, FAQs are good to put in spaces, make them worth visiting. Really hope that you guys are co-ordinating with other region’s Home devs too and rolling out content globally where possible.

Now what you need to do is reduce the downloading and load times. This is the biggest deterrent to a lot of people. Maybe add the space downloads to the PSN store?

  • Absolutely amazing job by the Home team.

Sony is absolutely dominating online console gaming:

The insane Home updates with over 7 million people so far

Free online for every single PS3 owner

    Dedicated servers

Massive online game sizes with 40,64, and soon 256 with MAG

  • This is a great update!

  • Very nice update

  • Very cool tie-in. I hope as many people as possible buy this game! What a brilliant, creative downloadable title for the PSN! Way to go Sony and Titan Studios!

  • cant connect to home :(

  • Good job, I still can’t log in? :(((

  • The Cake is not a lie!

  • wow a perfect 5/5! ill have to do this! But about the theater… i cant even stream the short videos smoothly until they finish downloading. How am I supposed to do videos that are over 10 min long!

  • hope this is 4 EU too well is it??

  • With all this cake around Home and CydoniaX’s love of sweets i wonder if she may become our new Fat Princess ;)

  • HEY! JIM ASOCCER MADE THAT ONE!

  • LMAO Jim =D

  • oh, well then nice job to asoccer lol

  • Wow nice update. :)

  • um.. is it me or am is anyone else having problems login in on home..it just goes to initializing and kicks me out :/ oh and by the way i caught the YLOD two days ago..I’m hopefully i can get it fixed tomorrow..if not it will get sent to Sony along with a $160 for a new one..:P good thing i got an amigo whom is AWESOME enuff to lend me his cuz his bro got one too. ;)

  • Excellent, great news Devs…been waiting for a new theatre. That other one was too small.

I hope features like bubble makers disrupting full screen and the ability to make full screen from a seat have been corrected / added.

    Also, just wondering…
Is there a possibility of actual features being made available to the theatre?
It would be really cool if we could watch a feature that is actually in the theatre (perhaps after a week or two at the box office), for a slightly higher price tag.

What do you think about that dev team?

And…I know this is a lot, but will the bowling alley be fixed anytime soon? I hate the issues with pool mostly. Rules should be customizable, waiting for a game is teadious (should be able to call next) and being able to watch, see movements from afar etc.).

Anyway, hopefully you’ll reply to this, and thanks for continuing to bring the updates.

    • We are definitely working toward getting full-length movies, just like the blog says! Today\’s videos aren\’t indicative of what will be in the Theater all the time…all kinds of new stuff coming.

  • Glad to see a large update like this. I hope this means Home releases will pick up pace and maybe zones will get released before the games do or at same time. Hope you guys get it off the ground its a big bird to fly.

  • As always, for me atleast, the updates look cool. Any update is good as it adds to the Home experience.

For those of you who posted that you cannot get into Home at this time, as of a few moments ago the update was still being implimented. You will be able to log in very soon.

  • GO FIGURE!

MY PS3 DIES AND NOW ALL THIS COMES OUT? All Sony’s consumer services can say is, “It’s out of warranty.” REALLY? It’s 2.5 years old, I figured that much. It’s a launch 60gb. I bet they will ALL fail at some point or another. Someone will say I didn’t take care of it. But wait, it’s 2.5 years old. I’ve been doing the same thing since I bought it when it launched. So why does it have to be my fault.

Then Sony’s awesome consumer services tells me it’s $149 + tax. And that’s all they will say. Sir, it’s out of warranty, it’s $149. Who is the President? It’s out of warranty and it’s $149. What’s your favorite movie? It’s out of warranty, and it’s $149. What page are you reading from? Every page says it’s out of warranty, it’s $149.

Will I get my system back? It’s out of warranty, and it’s $149.

    EPIC FAIL SONY!
    It’s out of warranty, and it’s $149.

  • I am glad to see that Home is growing and filling up with so much content. You guys are doing excellent work, I don’t give a damn what anybody says. Thank you for your time and effort in making Home a worth while experience, and hope to see another dance off.

    • Interesting…what should the next dance-off be? Zombies vs. vampires? Gladiator vs. knigh? Cardboard robot vs. Luchadora?

  • @30

LMAO i know exactly what ur talking about….my launch-day ps3 died like a yr ago and i got the same fantastic customer service from sony.

  • Great work with Home. It has come along way in less than a year since its open beta.

  • To #30. Off topic. For the $149 that you send in, you will get another 60 gig returned to you. I consider that a real deal when you realise that your system is backwards compatible and the newer ones aren’t. Would you rather have them send you an 80 gig model that won’t play older games, or go out and spend anoth $300 on a new system or send in $149 to get the same model PS3 (60 gig) mailed to you?

  • At # 30
Sorry to hear about your system, but you ain’t the only one buddy. But when you get your system back you won’t be disappointed.

  • So is the theater the same one that’s in the Japanese Home? Or is it completely new? Also, I’m trying to connect to Home, but it just seems to stay stuck in the Initializing screen. Is it because I’m on Wifi and not a hard line, or what?

  • Wait, are the servers down for this update? Been trying to log in since last night, was wondering what gives :/

  • The servers are down because the update is being installed.

  • The movie theater thing sounds great, I was waiting for something like this.

One suggestion, it seems you can only zoom in on the screen when you’re standing close to it, but when you’re sitting in a theater seat you can’t. This is a problem because people’s head, and you’re own big head, is in the way.

  • LOL the “fat princess’ space is the same the ppl in Europe had for their psp hunt, the dev team just added the graphics and stuff, I guess the ran out of ideas..

good update BTW, Jeffs been doing it’s homework lately ;)

  • Thanks for the heads up CydoniaX.

    Absolutely fantastic news !

Home is getting better and better.

    Keep up the great work.

  • Thanks Cyd! This is excellent stuff. The Burn Zombie Burn space is a complete surprise, and the updated theater has long been looked for.

I do see an encouraging trend developing here. We got the Namco space and game on the same day, and now Fat Princess game and event/space on the same day (even if it’s only temporary)

Looks like Home isn’t just getting better, it’s getting more timely as well. Good stuff!

  • Wow, great update! Finally the theater has made it to the US. I would also like to have the EU plaza even though it’s an older design. I like it’s design better than our plaza design. Just add listen@home to it and i’m happy.

  • @30..i feel your pain..but i did my research and it CAN be fixed for LESS than $149+tax…and in a FEW HOURS…its just a matter of how long it will last after its fixed..and also the model of your system… 60gb mostly. So yeah i know its Bs..but those are things some of us PSheads have to deal with :/

  • “including the future possibility of full-length TV shows or movies” wooo PSN Video Store integration possibly!

  • Illter willter checkter outter theter newter freeter shatter!!!

  • Motorstorm Home space with in game launching?? excellent news , ill check it out for sure and fat princess home space looks cool too

  • YES!! Thanks SCEA and Home team!

  • Any truth to the EA space update? (black tables…etc) The red tables are beyond glitchy. Haven’t been able to finish a full poker game with out myself or another player getting booted.

Thanks for any heads up. Nice work on Home.

  • best update ever, and i’ve been here since day 1. good job!
