Capcom Classics Coming to PSN Starting Tomorrow

Posted by Ryan McDougall // Marketing Coordinator, Capcom

Capcom Classics - Logo

Hey PlayStation fans, I’m Ryan, Capcom’s newest Bearer of Good News. Today, I’m here to bring you word of our upcoming PlayStation classics, a library of classic games being brought to you on the PlayStation Network. We’ve sorted through our archives and hand-selected the games that rocked the industry. All of these upcoming classics will be released over the PSN, and will be playable on your PSP.

Coming up first is Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed, available tomorrow. The game is a collection of arcade classics from gaming’s glorious past. Pay homage to the best of the arcades, like Final Fight, Bionic Commando, Street Fighter, and Magic Sword. Prove your old-school dominance with twenty full arcade titles. Check out the full list of included games here.

Later this summer, look forward to Fate/Unlimited Codes. Capcom’s fighting game masters have brought one of Japan’s most popular animes exclusively to the PSN, ready for the new PSPgo. High-flying combos and fast-paced versus action show off the game’s gorgeous 3D graphics, and it’s a fighting-game experience you can’t get anywhere else.

Next, keep your eyes out for more gems from Capcom, being brought directly to the PSN. Check out the full list below, including PSone and UMD Legacy titles, and come back often for more info on individual release timing.

Capcom, how about a Gun.Smoke Rearmed? One of my favorite NES games.

(I was going to post this request in the Bionic Commando thread, but you guys broke it before I could post ;P ).

I own CCC Reloaded on UMD and those games are difficult on a purely evil level. I want to buy Remixed, but I am afraid that the combination of the two will result in my PSP flying into a wall.

Anyway, great news from Capcom. It would be nice to have an estimated release schedule (like one every week, two weeks, month, etc), but I am guessing it will be more about when they are ready.

Resident Evil 2 for the win can’t wait to replay and unlock everything on my PSP. :) If only Marvel vs. Capcom 1 or 2 were playable on PSP…

XxBigP123xX  |  July 1st, 2009 at 1:22 pm

Resident Evil 2 (PlayStation Legacy)
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PlayStation Legacy)

Finally! Been waiting like 2 years for RE2.

Nerd question here…

My wife’s favorite arcade game of all time was “Burger Time”. Is this a Capcom game? Will we ever see it on the PS3??

Thanks!

Will there be Home tie-ins?

LordChocoSlime  |  July 1st, 2009 at 1:34 pm

Wow, it’s great seeing all those Capcom PSone and PSP game downloads announced for PSN. Though I already own the UMD versions of Mega Man Powered Up and Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, I am interested in the other announced downloads.

Oh, and just out of curiosity, is Capcom planning a PSP version of Mega Man 9? I really want to play that game, but I don’t own a PS3, Xbox 360, or Wii. Also, are there any plans for releasing the PSone Mega Man games (i.e. Mega Man Legends, Mega Man X4) as well as those PSN versions of the original Mega Man series in the U.S.?

nice to see you guys are not crashing the blog this time

WindedHero  |  July 1st, 2009 at 1:36 pm

Badass.

114

Lirion  |  July 1st, 2009 at 1:36 pm

Please release them on the EU Store as well.

115

Shakezula84  |  July 1st, 2009 at 1:37 pm

I’ve been waiting for the Mega Mans to be rereleased as umd legacy games. I already own them, but I bought powered up used. I’ll be buying both games and they will always be on my 16gig stick. I may also do the capcom collections. And RE2 is my favorite one other then four.

Capcom knows how to make PSP games. Please take my money so you can make more.

Like Mega Man Powered Up 2 and Mega Man Maverick Hunter X2. Specifically. You don’t have to make another anime for the second maverick hunter, but that would be sweet.

Which reminds me. Will Maverick Hunter have the anime on it. I imagine a 22 minute video is probaly one of the largest memory requirments in the game. Even Killzone downgraded the quality of it’s cutscenes to make it Downloadable.

sNsKid  |  July 1st, 2009 at 1:44 pm

RE2=sold.

117

trer24  |  July 1st, 2009 at 1:45 pm

I own the UMD versions of Capcom Arcade Classics remixed and reloaded. Is there anyway I can copy the data onto a Memory Stick to achieve the same effect of downloading them from PSN? I feel like I’ve bought these games once already and would be be paying twice for the same game!

118

sNsKid  |  July 1st, 2009 at 1:47 pm

you can get the actual CCCR UMD for less than $20 lmao

119

Kight  |  July 1st, 2009 at 1:51 pm

What are the chances of the Power Stone Collection being ported to play on the PS3?

Please?

120

ericyo  |  July 1st, 2009 at 1:52 pm

kmkaizen  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:03 pm

i still own Mega Man Maverick Hunter X you get to do a Mega Man Maverick Hunter X 2 psp anytime soon i love the first remake alot

124

MadmanEU  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:04 pm

The lack of any specific dates for the PSOne games is laughable at best. Don’t announce something if you’re not willing to actually announce it…oui?

125

Korbei83  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:05 pm

Nice list. Resident Evil 3 is tough to come by. Maverick Hunter X may also tickle my fancy at the right price.

126

timestoby  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:06 pm

i think its great the old games are coming back, but they arnt in hd.guess capcom doesnt love em enuff to get em in hd and id pay any price for em in hd. im not sure how it is in usa,but in uk you can get brand new umds for like 6£ to 15£. if the older downloadable cost the same as the ones on psn today then….well i dont know. ill eventually get the pspgo, but not at this price,i can get an xbox or wii for that price plus a few games, nuff said

127

OmarJA  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:06 pm

129

Coheno  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:07 pm

Give me Mega Man Legends 2 please! And while we’re at it…please make Inafune San make Legends 3!

130

pecorre  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:09 pm

You rule guys!

I still have (and play) RE1,2 and 3 (yes, the black psone disc!). But I’ll be the first in line to buy Dino Crisis.

It’s great to see Capcom showing some love to the ps3, but we still need a Dead Rising port!!! I’ll buy Dead Rising 2, but I really want the first one!!!!

Thanks!

131

jipmg  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:10 pm

133

Ramage  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:12 pm

Srsly doods. Can you please please please get us some Breath of Fire action? New or old doesn’t matter.

Moar Ryu (from BoF) FTW!

134

Shuya86  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:14 pm

Brilliant list. Any plans to bring this great Capcom content to PSN users in the EU?

Just for the record we’d be more than willing to buy the RE series etc on PSN aswell if we just had the option…

135

DTXSFC  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:17 pm

Ryan you bring tears to my eyes. Joy! Dino Crisis, Power Stone and more makes me happy, happy, joy, joy!

Thank you!

136

cystemic_schizm  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:17 pm

How about some PSone Strider love already, geez

137

DMeisterJ  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:22 pm

So when is Capcom going to put MHF: U on the PS Store? It would make sense, given all the titles you’re bringing to the Service.

Plz have it there soon!

138

MattG-PTB  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:26 pm

This is fantastic news. Maybe now Mega Man: Powered Up will get the love and respect that it deserves.

139

Liamario  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:27 pm

Is there anyway you can respond to questions without saying ‘thanks for asking’ at the end?

140

sMiLe-  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:29 pm

Ps1 classics ever get trophy support?

141

commedieu  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:31 pm

Ryan, why dont you just edit the post to read which consoles play which device.

142

exion  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:33 pm

Awesome update, though I have to ask… will we ever get a HD remix of darkstalkers to play on the PS3? that would rule so much!

143

likescake  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:43 pm

I assume the lack of a post on the EU blog means this isn’t coming to Europe/elsewhere? We still need RE: DC :(

144

mknightstalkerx  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:43 pm

Wow. This is great!. Im going to get this if marvel vs capcom 2 does not come out this week. How much?

145

jncasanova  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:44 pm

The survival horror additions were awesome! Next on your list should be Dino Crisis 2 (which was one of my ps1 favorites)! One of my favorite xbox games was Dino Crisis 3, it would be great to have a remastered version on the ps3!! But as many critics dind’t liked it, I guess I’ll keep dreaming.

I remeber reading somewhere that developers can’t just patch psn games without adding content, that makes me wonder if along with the Bionic Commando: Rearmed trophies will come new challenge rooms!!!!!!!

That game is so fun to play it deserves a sequel (with the same 2D awesomeness).

146

norm01  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:44 pm

I’m a little bummed.. how do we play the multiplayer arcade games like Final Fight on the PSP? I was hoping the CCCR would be for PS3, honestly…

147

MakaiOokami  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:46 pm

When are we going to find out about a possible UMD trade in for the UMD Legacy stuff? The Go! won’t be worth it if i have to pay a bunch of money for games I already own.

Like Megaman Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X.

Along with Powerstone Collection.

Here is an important question though. I hope you answer. Do ANY of these games support the Japaense Ad-hoc/infastructure Beta thingy?

148

ZAANOS  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:47 pm

This is amazing news!

Hey Capcom any chance we’ll see Mega Man Legends 1 and 2? Me and my little brother loved playing those games!! I’d also love to see a new Power Stone game on the PSN.

149

PSfan74  |  July 1st, 2009 at 2:50 pm
