Over 100 New Pieces of Content Releasing This Thursday in PlayStation Home

Locust_Star's Avatar + Posted by Locust_Star on Aug 26, 2009 // PlayStation Home Community Manager

Attn: Killzone 2 fans. We’ve seen you in Central Plaza all decked out in your Helghan wares. We’ve seen you in the Bowling Alley showing your love for the ISA. We’ve heard you proudly boasting your Warzone rank in the Gamer’s Lounge. So we know that this Thursday, August 27th, you’ll be rushing into PlayStation Home to grab the new KZ2 content we’ll have waiting for you – specifically, the Killzone 2 Visari Throne Room.

This special personal space is based on the final stage of Killzone 2 in Scolar Visari’s Palace and is the absolute ideal gathering space for you and your KZ2-obsessed friends. Releasing in tandem with the Visari Throne Room will be a variety of virtual items that you can use to customize your area (including the Helghan Defense Painting – my personal fave). Check out the video below for a sneak peek of this space and other Killzone 2 items available in PlayStation Home.

We know that you guys and gals love collecting personal spaces, furniture, and gear for your avatar, which is why we’ve been working night and day to make this publish the biggest ever virtual items content release in PlayStation Home. In addition to the Killzone 2 Visari Throne Room, we’re also dropping an all-new, all-original personal space on you. The new Post-Apocalyptic Apartment is sure to appeal to your inner Road Warrior, and to celebrate its unveiling we’re offering a value bundle of furniture that runs the gamut from chairs to couches to tables to flooring to storage to assorted décor all at a special introductory price that just can’t be beat. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We have approximately 70 items total being released just for this personal space, so the customization options for this area alone are virtually endless.

But that’s not all. No siree. Come this Thursday, you’ll also be able to rep your favorite big cities with the release of some new animated t-shirts that broadcast your hometown pride. And are those animated glow sticks I see too? Watch the video down there and let me know that my mind ain’t playing tricks on me.

As always, this week is jam-packed with events – and we’re counting on seeing you at all of them. Head on over to the official Home Clubs and Events sub-forum at www.us.playstation.com for more details about our daily game launching parties…and a special celebrity look-a-like event planned for this Thursday in PlayStation Home where you can win some of the rarest items ever to appear in our world.

See you in Home!

Would someone please answer this question? Its great that you guys are adding more game spaces in PS Home, but what is their purpose once the game gets old? For example, look at the Warhawk Home space, its totally deserted.

YES YES YES!!! I EXCITED AND NOT JUST BECAUSE ALL THE NEW CONTENT HOME HAS TO OFFER…BUT BECAUSE OF THE NEW MARKETING FOR THE PLAYSTATION (OR “PS3″), YAY! IT DOES DO EVERYTHING AND CONSUMERS NEED TO KNOW THIS!

@49

I bought it to play PS3 games *AND* upconverted PS2 games on my HDTV. Why are you so apposed to someone else getting what they want? Again, I could care less about cross game chat. But tons of people are requesting it, so why not give it to them. I just don’t see the point in Home. Seems a big waste of time and resources that could be devoted to something useful.

No new public game spaces? Thaty kinda sucks, but it’s cool to see so much more content in Home.

Here’s your next mission. Get the people that only logged in at the start of the open beta and haven’t touched it since to come back.

People are still under the impression that there’s nothing there…they have no idea how much the service has improved.

@66 EvoAnubis
People are aware that HOME is improving, but HOME does that have the features the want. People on my buddy list keep telling me that they are waiting for the ability to stream content from your HDD in your HOME space. that when they are going to re-install HOME back on their PS3.

The main “selling” point of HOME was that feature and we have yet to even see it. Hell, we have no update on that and we feel like they don’t even care about those features anymore.

Any word on if universal game launching means just starting a game without leaving home or if it means launching into a multiplayer session from home for all ps3 games, i.e. I’ll be able to launch into Metal Gear Online from home.

Comparatively speaking to what is out there right now on other consoles – Playstation cannot be touched! Home is the best social network more so than Facebook and Twitter, in my opinion. And only on the Playstation where gamers come first – as exampled by this mega ton bombshell that you’ve dropped on us with this content.

Thank you Playstation! Keep up the good work.

Here’s another important thing that you guys might want to think about. It would be great if you guys could integrate the XMB with PS Home & Avatars. Going from the XMB to PS Home is just another extra step to discourage PS Home users. Home has too many loading screens. Why go to PS Home to launch a game when you can do it directly from the XMB without the hassle of PS Home loading.

Wow I’m so sick of people hating on Home. I didn’t like it at first, but now I log on every once and a while to see what’s new. I wish people would stop feeling the need to spam posts with how much they hate Home. If you don’t like it that’s nice, but no one cares.

@64

They had BC originally, but people wanted a cheaper console instead, so the first price drops of the PS3 were because they cut BC out to save money. If you had wanted BC, you should have bought one of the original more expensive PS3s (which I did).

People have to pick what features they want, and more people wanted a cheaper console than BC, so that’s what they got. If you still want BC, look for somebody selling their old first-gen PS3s to buy a slim, and but their PS3.

that’s not the point. Being able to game launch in home is for when you meet up with someone in home and say “hay we both have this game wanna play together”. Or meeting up with friends to talk about what your gonna plat first

its really nice to see a lot of work being put into HOME. although i rarely log onto Home anymore….

I really think Home needs to be more intergrated into video games itself. maybe have HOME be what you actually start in when you start up the PS3 and everything that you wanna do on the PS3 (music, downloads, store, etc…) be done thru HOME itself.

i dont know… just as a gamer when i do have time to play the PS3 it’s to play my games or log into the store and so on. I really dont wanna just log into HOME and nothing is really done from in HOME.

i cant surf the web, check the store, do account specific things, dont even think i can listen to music or even watch videos/trialers from inside Home. like i said Home needs a lot more integration.

Is there any plans to get licensed sports team apparel in Home?? I already rock the hockey jersey but would much rather be donning the Toronto Maple Leafs sweater instead. Getting some big name soccer kits would rake in the money as well. Oh and I would love a mini Warhawk for my space too ^_^

But great job on the content. I’ve found myself using Home more and more with each passing week. Keep up the good work!!
