For those that recall the God of War survey conducted earlier this year, an overwhelming amount of the community suggested the PlayStation 2 experiences of Kratos be brought forth to the PlayStation 3.
Thanks to your feedback, we are excited to announce the God of War Collection for this Holiday Season. Now fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic journey of God of War and God of War II in 720p HD form. Both titles have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics, running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience, only on the PS3 system. Additionally, the Blu-ray Disc compilation will bring the PlayStation Network (PSN) trophy support to the franchise for the very first time.
This is your chance to experience God of War is its true form before the chaos of God of War III hits store shelves come March 2010.

Scheduled for release this holiday season, God of War Collection will feature reworked versions of both God of War® and God of War® II on a single Blu-ray Disc™ at full 1280 x 720 resolution. Both critically acclaimed games, which were originally developed for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience on the PS3 system. Additionally, the Blu-ray Disc compilation will bring PlayStation®Network (PSN) trophy support to the franchise for the first time (included for both games). God of War Collection offers substantial value to PS3 consumers, the compilation of both best-selling games costing just $39.99 MSRP.

God of War Storyline
Set in the dark world of ancient Greek mythology, players take on the role of Kratos, a Spartan warrior. I got a good felling about this. I personaly think that the price should be $30 instead of $40 because they are old PS2 titles but it does come with two great games with better graphics. Plus it comes with trophies!!! That’s realy exciting! It’s kind of hard to complain. I’m looking toward to this. Thanks for the great news.

Of course, I recently bought God of War II for $25. However, I’m happy to support this $40 purchase, largely for the new trophies. :)
And to support Sony for such a wicked idea! In the end, it’ll be as if I’d paid single game price (~$60) for two classic games I wanted to play anyways.
I’d frickin go MAD with excitement if Sony announces a remastered Ico/Shadow of The Colossus collector’s edition on one Blu-ray disc with HD graphics, 60fps and trophy support before the release of The Last Guardian. I’d honestly go mad, happily.

This is just too good to be true! I think that the first God of War is simply the most flawless game ever made, and I bought the second game too, but never had time to play it. This is pretty close to being the best news all year.
Only thing better would be similar kind of Ratchet & Clank collection. But this is positively awesome!

says ‘remastering’ and ‘port’ so I’m a bit confused … does that mean changing the rendering engine to render in HD res or GS emulation which the PS3 hardware upscales and slaps a bit of AA on top of it (ala original BC solutions)? hoping the former – especially if they’re are adding trophies and funding a great dev team for it – because if there’s an new rendering engine for PS2 games to run on PS3 … that would mean … Sony has the technology…? :o

Wow, I’m a bit late to the party, but damn am I ever glad to find this out.
Two remastered games that are treated like a full PS3 game for 39.99? You can count me in.
I hope other game developers whose games got tons of attention (*cough* FFVII *cough*) as well, decide to follow in the brilliant footsteps of these men.
