I bought Singstar Vol. 2 for the PS3 over 6 months ago and I have one MAJOR complaint – the crappy songs available in the SingStore.

When I first got it, my wife and I were excited to try it and logged in to the SingStore, only to find music by unknown artists from decades ago. The U.S. SingStore simply SUCKS. We were only able to find about 3 songs that we likes which we bought, but beyond that, we were bored because we didn’t have any songs to sing. There are no current songs in there, and even the biggest artists are missing like U2, Depeche Mode, etc.

After 6 months, last night I wiped the dust off the game case and popped it in the PS3 again to give it a spin and see if there was anything new in the SingStore, and surprise surprise, the same old crap with a few “new” old crap songs from crap artists. This is truly frustrating.

What’s worse, Singstar releases discs like SingStar ABBA and SingStar Queen, but I can’t buy those songs from the SingStore. Look Sony, I’m TRYING to throw my money at you, but you guys just don’t get it. I love the game interface, I love the game, but it’s worthless without, you know, SONGS!

Hell, just give me some Depeche Mode songs and I’ll be happy!

Hmmm… I download songs all the time. I wasn’t even aware of the DRM issues, but I think I’ll be much more careful now. No sense in investing a lot of money if I’ll eventually lose all my songs if I buy a new PS3. :(

… they need a better answer to DRM issues.

Enough with the misinformation people!

If you have a bunch of Singstar DLC on your PS3, and your PS3 breaks or is replaced, you can re-download all your songs – but you must first contact Sony support to get the ball rolling.

After a while – a week or so, they will unlock the songs and you will get to download them again.
