The PS3 web browser is my main browser as well, and I assure you background music NEVER stopped working when the web browser is used. I’m listening to Howard Stern right now as I type this.
You need to go into your audio settings and set the output frequency to the lower setting I believe. You can “upscale” tracks while on the browser.
Eric: Any news on when the controller-support will be fixed? In my case mostly 3rd-party controllers but i guess there are lots of first party owners angered by the loss of support for the ceramic white ones..?
sorry, I meant you CAN’T “upscale” your tracks while using the browser. Set it to the lower output frequency.

Being able to chat with your friends while your playing a diffrent game would be nice. I mean this is next gen right? If crapbox 360 can get the online right why can’t sony? Ill start a petition id rather pay a flat monthly fee to sony and be able to party chat with my friends than have what we have for free.

But PLEASE don’t fade away everything but the selected element when browsing lists of e.g. music i the XMB. It’s REALLY ANNOYING that you have to keep being active to be able to read your files.
The new (3.0) scrollbar is very nice, though! I’ve been waiting for that. Also, I like the large font, so include both if you should decide to add a smaller font ;)
Another worthless update although this one is not 100% worthless, more like about 99,9(9)% worthless.
Why bother releasing an update fixing only one of the many many problems that 3.0 brought?
Put your gears together sony and once and for all, listen to the community for what they have to say about the thing you mess about.

What’s up with the PSP V6.00?
I have the old PS3 60G and since downloading Firmware 3.00 my PS3 Bluray died. Since installing firmware 3.01 20 minutes ago, I can confirm that there has been no change. On calling Sony UK, they told me yesterday that I was the first person in the world to have this problem and for them to correct it would cost me (starting at) £100 and 3 weeks! I am not to happy that the firmware update has not helped and I have a glorified paper weight! Perhaps I should do the unthinkable and purchase a Wii. It seems as though you guys in the states receive better customer care. Here in the UK we are simply told its your problem – pay me money and maybe we fix!

To “LONESTRANGER” i am really sorry to hear about your problem, as i had the same issue. I will give u a link which u can read upon. I will explain to you wat happened to ur ps3. Unfortunately the firmware or software u installed was faulty, and that has caused problems to your ps3. This is a growing issue and the error u will be recieving when trying to play blu ray movies and games is error 80010514. There is no way to fix this problem. Call sony immediately and hopefully they will fix the problem. Here is the link

3.01 fixed my ps3 from freezing constantly. even on world at war. hopefully more fixes are coming, i’ve been lucky cause i dont have much problems

Still no luck with my blu-ray games, i get 5-10 mins of the game then a lovely freeze, which makes me think the drive isn’t completely knackered as if it was it shouldn’t really start up?
The only game that works is Far Cry 2 and that is probably cause the game has a 4 Gb download on my hardrive lol.
I tried the restore file system thing, then it said corrupt data was found, restoring… Just to make sure, i tried it again straight after without using anything on my ps3 and the same message appeared?!? How could it have restored if apparently the data is still corrupt?
Any hints or tips? To get blu-rays working longer than 10 mins? Thanks
Why is it that everyone wants Sony to re-release BC whenever they release new firmware updates? Don’t people read and know that Sony has no intentions of pushing BC on the PS3 right now?

@Eric and the FW update team, thanks very much! I was a bit sad I couldn’t continue Uncharted. I’ve got a new, bigger (40 inch) TV since last week and when testing out Uncharted I was completely stunned. I’ve finished the game like 5 times already but now its the great moment to replay to warm up for Among Thieves.
So you made me very happy, like I’m happy with 3.0 :-)
After reading more of the comments, wouldn’t it make sense for people label what system they are running? I’m running a 60gb unit and have had no problems with freezing up during games.
Personally I think this is an isolated problem due to hardware incompatibility, not software.
Thanks you fixed my uncharted issues but made batman 10 times worse the blue and green screen flashes happen more frequently and now i have times that non moving object have pole like features of graphical glitches coming out of them. This is really bad in character trophies. Why can we not get this right. Don’t get me worng love uncharted but come on this is batman.

For people that want to disable the “What New Section” .. you can do that via the PS3 settings, theres an option in there to enable or disable the “Whats new” section. stop your whinning

I’m still having problems with Bad Company’s campaign on Crossing Over. I can’t progress aka I can’t unlock Trophies. Disc is flawless. Noticed the problem after updating to 3.00.

Will this patch help me out for some of the problems I have been having connecting to some games online since 3.0?
Like “King of Fighters XII”, “Wipeout HD”, “SSF2THDR” and a few others?
I can get online, but when it comes time to join a room or a race, I constantly get “Cannot connect to this player” or similiar.

Any chance you could integrate them into the Christmas firmware update?!
Also, I’d like to make a suggestion regarding the ‘what’s new’ on PSN store items. From a Sony perspective I understand you want to promote new store content on the XMB, but the 3.0 update makes it look a little untidy. Why not give the PSN STORE its own menu, in the same way that music has. If a user goes to the PSN STORE MENU they will see a list on new items in it, as well as choose to go to the store. That way the PSN STORE MENU keeps it tidy but also displays new content. I hope that helps?!

@ #45…. your disc drive is broken. Buy a replacement drive on ebay, or for the same price u could send ur ps3 to sony, pay $150 (if uve had it 4 more than a year) and wait twice as long for them to send u a “referbished” ps3 which will then brake a few months later. It happened 2 me. Then I bought the BR drive and installation was a walk in the park. The 3.00 or Beatles game had nothing to do with ur breakage. Good Luck

An optional update for an issue that most are experiencing. hhmm I think it should be required, especially for people that don’t know 3.01 is out.
Hi Eric, thanks for this update and for quickly addressing the Uncharted freezing issues.
There are a few features I’d like to see in future firmware updates, which are as follows:
1. In-game access to music files from the PS3 hard drive, universally without the need for a developer patch.
2. Calender on the XMB with key dates for games conferences and perhaps game release dates.
3. More visualizations when listening to music.
4. A rewind and fast forward x2, x10, x50, x100 speeds like on the PSP.
5. Skype on the PS3.
6. A search engine on the XMB which searches for files, music, pictures and game saves off the hard drive.
Out of all my requests, having in-game access to music would be fantastic, the feature I’ve been hoping to see since the launch of the PS3.
I’ve had a lot of freezing issues when using the PS3’s browser after 3.00.
Any chance this will correct that?
I CAN PLAY UNCHARTED AGAIN (too bad i’ll be spending ALL my time on the beta demo trying to win the Fortune Hunter Edition)
