Hey all, and nice to meet you! I’m Aaron Webber, also known as RubyEclipse over on the SEGA Blogs, and I’m the community lead at SEGA of America for all things Valkyria Chronicles.
As of today, SEGA is proud to announce Valkyria Chronicles II – the sequel to the legendary PS3 epic – is coming to the West exclusively on the PSP! Join the battle once more in the next addition to the Valkyria franchise – created by the same team behind the original.
The year is 1937 EC.
Two years later, the ashes of the Second Europan war still glow in Gallia’s history. But even peace is a fragile happiness – and hearts that once fought side by side are not forever friends.
In the midst of this peace appears a group known as the Gallian Revolutionary Army, swearing to topple the current government – in a lightning fast coup, they arm themselves with the best of both Gallian technology and soldiers.
What was once a small but strong unified country is instantly plunged back onto the battlefield. But the day and age of the last war’s heroes is already fading out – with families to protect and children to raise, they are the ones who must now be protected. While numbers split and tensions rise, the spotlight shines to a handful of up-and-coming students at a Gallian Military Academy.
As civil war begins to rage across the country, morality and war clash with passion and ideals. But this time the distinction between blue and red is not so simple – nor will it ever be. Gallia once stood as a defiant beacon of hope against a giant empire… but can the country now defend against its own?

Thanks for this update. Word of mouth reached me, and I decided to pick up Valkyria Chronicles today. If the game is half as good as everyone says, I’ll be very pleased. If I like it, you can be sure I’ll pick up VC2 for my PSP.
You can also add me to the “patch VC with trophy support” group. Now, obviously I won’t avoid buying a game because it lacks trophies (I own MGS4 and Ratchet and Clank), but trophies add to the experience and challenge of a game. They give you something additional to shoot for, and an additional sense of accomplishment aside from just beating the game.
As I understand it, VC has in game medals, which you could argue could satisfy the perks I just mentioned. What isn’t being said here is that trophies are free publicity for the game. I compare my trophies with my PSN friends all the time. I’ve decided to check out many games after seeing that my friends had played them (i.e. the game showed up in their trophy list).
At the least a friend seeing that I have some trophies in VC could cause them to say “is that game any good?” and get the word of mouth growing exponentially.
Just my 2 cents.
I’m a little upset because I don’t have a PSP, but that may change when I have money laying around. Wouldn’t want to miss out on VC2.
And I’ll second/third/whatever on getting trophies on VC1. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll play it regardless, but the game is probably the only one that I own without trophies.
Keep up the awesome work, I think this series will end up being a classic.
I would rather have a full game than DLC.
I am pleased to hear there is a chance for Yakuza 3, a game I would buy new to support the franchise.
Yes! Please add trophy support for Valkyria Chronicles! VC is the best rpg of this generation and trophies would make it that much better.

Valkyria Chronicles PS3 Trophies Please.
I very glad you are working on bringing trophies to Valkyria Chronicles. I’ve played through the game 4 times already and bought all DLCs and I’ll gladly play it again just for my trophies.
trophies for original, yes please. Shame 2 is on PSP but it’s such a fantastic game I’ll still have to buy it. ;)

I’m actually not interested in this game because I never got the chance– Or better yet, because I never bought the first one for the PlayStation 3. Why? No trophy support.
Trophies are a MUST for me these days.
If you patch the PS3 version, then you’ll surely score one more sale for the PS3 version, and a sale for the PSP version! If I love the PS3 version, that is.
I like VC alot and i want to let know sega, that i would love to have trophies for VC1.
Why it matters to me? Because i want to see, that sega wants to invest in VC and its community and that the next VC titles are worth my money!
So like me a lot other people spend their money and supported this “new ip”. So sega, pls show your “love” for VC.

Please add Trophies to Valkyria Chronicles I! This game begs for them with all those in-game medals! It would be awesome to have them! Many people would re-play this game just for the Trophies!

^ My words. I have VC and I wish sequel for PS3 too. It’s unbelievable, how VC could have problems with sells. Same with Yakuza. God I wish Kenzan and Y3. And VC sequel for PS3. But the greatest miracle I wish to be real is Shenmue release for PS3. Thanks Sega.
I do not own VC, but I would buy it and all DLC if trophy support was a 100% certainty.
Is that petty? Sure.
Am I missing out on a wonderful game? Absolutely.
Unfortunately, VC came along at a time when trophies were not mandatory but were becoming more common, and when I saw this game could not add to the arbitrary list of trinkets I love to collect, I decided against buying it.
But, at the end of the day, it would be a selling point for me and my PS3 owning friends. If you want some sort of proof of my sincerity, I bought Star Wars – The Force Unleashed as soon as a trophy patch was announced. I really want VC, but I will not do so until trophies are announced for it.

Please Add trophies to the first game and i will definitely buy it.
Disappointed that VC2 is for the PSP, since I don’t own one, I had Valkyria Chronicles, but sold it after I got the medals and I didn’t see any point of buying the DLC, since nobody could see how good I am. I promise you this, bring trophies to both the game and the DLC and I’ll rebuy Valkyria Chronicles and will be buying the DLC next year. I hope you guys port VC2 afterwards to the PS3, I really want to buy the game but I’m not willing to spend money on a PSP.
Regarding trophies, I seriously think it’s quite a big mistake for SEGA not to have included them. (Especially since games like Prince of Persia had them around that same launch time frame)
Valkyria Chronicles is one of my favorite games this generation. I persuade all of my friends to get it, but a number of them wouldn’t even consider buying the game if it didn’t have trophies (which it currently doesn’t right now). I’m not a trophy whore myself, but I’ve done pretty much everything on the game and trophies would have been nice addition – they really keep the replay value up as well as keep gaming community discussions active about the game.
Alright count me on the tally of people that wants trophies for the game.
I love the PS3 version but I’m not gonna lie, it’s pretty hard… that’s why we need trophies!! a game as cool as this needs that extra push for someone like me!!
Well let me add my voice in the need for Trophies for VC. I do hope that Sega does implement Trophy support for VC as like you have said Aaron it would boost sales but also add another goal if you like to collect the trophies.
I remember when I saw the Artwork for the game and knew it would be a very unique and fun game. I was one of them that picked it up when it went down to $29.99 at Gamestop. The only problem is I haven’t been able to play it yet as life has been busy for me lately but I hope I will have time to play this wonderful game soon, and finally…
I would like to Thank Sega if they add Trophies to this game for taking the time to add something that should have been their day 1 (Not that it was required) but now they are going back to add then & in my opinion I wish most publishers/developers would take the time to do that with their older games.Personally I wish all publisher’s/developer’s would just stop and go back to their old games and add Trophies & Rumble support to all their games that don’t have them so we could enjoy the games as they were meant to be from the beginning.

I love VC and having already played through it plus some of the DLC, would enjoy playing through it again for trophies. But what i would like to see even more further down the line would be a turn based multiplayer patch if that is at all doable or even in the next PS3 version ;)
What was the reasoning behind not adding such a feature in the 1st place ?

Definitive purchase, I really loved Valkyria Chronicles on PS3, one of the two best (and originals) RPGs in this generation (Demon’s Souls is the another one).

I picked up Valkyria Chronicles on release date, but didn’t really start playing it seriously until this past July. I held off initially because I was waiting for a trophy patch, and I doubted that it would be retroactive. After awhile I figured it just wasn’t coming, and since my backlog of games is already massive, I started playing it anyway. I’m glad I did: I love everything about Valkyria, and I plan on taking my time with it. It is a wonderful experience :)
I still hope that a trophy patch is possible, as another game that I love (Disgaea 3) released one and it has really increased my fondness for that game. While trophies don’t make or break a game for me, it is nice to earn them for games I truly enjoy, and Valkyria is one of them.
Waiting for trophies to be added before I buy the game. Really looking forward to it :)

Here is my 2 cents I know trophies have been talked about but I thought I would throw in my commitment. I have only so much time to play games and I have enough games keeping me busy that I’m enjoying that I avoid looking outside trophy supported games.
BUT I’ve heard so much good about this game and the demo was fun that I assure you myself and I’m sure I’m not the only one would blindly by that game the second the trophy patch comes out.
I would probably even stop anything I’m playing… except uncharted maybe :)
So please show existing and future fans some love and patch before Valkyria II
I might add as well if it’s as good as everyone say it is the extra fans I’m sure can’t hurt the PSP version sales. It might even convince me to buy a PSP if the game is again as good as everyone says. Dare I say Valkyria Chronicles II PSP bundle…

Well, mark me down on the “I want trophies” list. Valkyria Chronicles is one of the best Strategy RPGs I have ever played and adding trophy support would be an easy way to raise interest in the title again. Also people need to stop saying this game bombed as its still selling to this day if you look at Amazons PS3 top sales list Valkyria is usually somwhere on that list.
I’ve already played through VC multiple times just trying to improve my rank, but i definitely woulndn’t mind trophies added to this stellar game. it’s like that extra little bit of icing on the cake :)

PS. happy to see it on the psp as well. Now if only the psp had up to +4 volume controls for media playback…

Wanted to say that although many gamers are stubborn in this age of Achievements, the Trophies really add the extra incentive people need to fork over $60. I for one think that a game is a game, no matter what benefits I get out of playing it. I find the benefit of just having fun to be worth $60. I played Valkyria Chronicles and enjoyed every second of it. I have to be honest, Strategy RPGs aren’t my favorite. I flinch at the thought of games like Final Fantasy Tactics and Disgaea. But some how, Valkyria Chronicles was able to stray away from typical, boring Strategy RPGs. You can be sure, that I will pick up Valkyria Chronicles 2 when it is released. But for the benefit of those gamers who are letting pride and their stubborn beliefs get in their way of a great game, I would like to add my support for Trophies. Plus, it would give me a reason to go through the game again. Much appreciated, Aaron.
Just wanted to say that I remember when games were played for fun, and my roommate and I have collectively spent over 100 hours in one of the best games ever.
So here’s two more people that would love to see trophy support, if for no other reason than that the game gets more attention and gets the respect (and sales numbers) it deserves.
