Heavy Rain: Your Questions Answered

Posted by Chris Morell // Senior Specialist, Social Media

You saw the Gamescom walkthrough. Then you saw the European PlayStation Blog’s interview with Heavy Rain writer/director David Cage. And a few weeks back we told you we’d get your questions in front of Quantic Dream.

And that we did. Here’s what Mr. Cage had to say about it…

LokeSTL  |  September 1st, 2009 at 10:46 am

@Chris

Any way we could get some responses on the last five blog posts?

4

adolson  |  September 1st, 2009 at 10:50 am

Can’t wait for this game. I hope David Cage is in it like Indigo Prophecy.

jashwin  |  September 1st, 2009 at 10:52 am

Onna76_NL  |  September 1st, 2009 at 10:52 am

I’m not going to watch the video, sorry but I simply won’t, why? Well, simple, I no longer wish to be spoiled that’s why :D Release the game already! Unless you can assure me I won’t be spoiled when I watch that video, then please tell me *lol*.

@Everyone, PLEASE! Leave your complaints (there are already enough as there is) about the 3.0FW in the specific Blog post.

Delriach  |  September 1st, 2009 at 10:56 am

I can’t wait to play this game. The story just seems so interesting.

I totally agree. I feel the same way about Uncharted 2, as well.

Sereal_Killer  |  September 1st, 2009 at 10:57 am

9

Neil  |  September 1st, 2009 at 10:58 am

Cannot wait for this game.

10

BlooodyCow  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:00 am

OMG, I love the new trailer. I cannot wait for this game. Next year will be killer with this game, god of war, wkc, the last guardian, and new resistance.

11

Lifendz  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:02 am

Day one people. Day effing one. As a gamer in his late 20’s I can’t wait for a game that has a story that consists of more than mindlessly killing everyone that crosses my path.

Chris Morell's Avatar

Chris Morell replied on September 1, 2009 at 12:52 pm

Nicely put! We should put “day effing one” on the box…

12

commedieu  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:04 am

@2 they have ignored folk since 2006. Don’t expect any response.

HR looks great though. Cage = God.

13

El_Tigre_Verde  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:04 am

Here’s a question NOBODY has asked:

Which ORDER will we play the characters in throughout the game?

Chris Morell's Avatar

Chris Morell replied on September 1, 2009 at 12:55 pm

That’s a really interesting question. Next time we see Quantic Dream, we’ll have to ask. But comment #16 seems to have some insight.

14

poodude  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:08 am

@ 7 –
I’m not going to watch it either. This game looks like it has a great story and I don’t want to risk spoiling it either (same goes for Uncharted 2). And I agree, although I hate 3.00, people shouldn’t comment about it in a blog post about Heavy Rain. That’s what the Playstation forums are for.

15

Sereal_Killer  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:09 am

@15.
Order? as in who comes first second etc?

well think of it as bouncing back and forth between all the characters so there is no beginning the story with A and ending it with D.

and i gues the order will also depend on your actions cause if character B dies i don’t think he will be coming back.

20089/2010= awesome. hell we get GoW blu-ray to keep us busy.

a question i would have liked to see is how they plan on implementing trophies for this sort of game and not having it be redundant and distracting.

16

station3fever  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:11 am

On my to buy list :) but I just have 1 very important question? Do I need a rain coat to play this game?

(all in good fun) :)

17

dragonmagician  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:13 am

My questions didn’t get asked…sad.

I wished more questions were answered; I’m sure a lot more questions were asked by us.

Chris Morell's Avatar

Chris Morell replied on September 1, 2009 at 12:56 pm

Yeah, I’d love to ask them all (there were a lot!), but we only had a short amount of time with Mr. Cage.

18

LordNoob  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:19 am

@ 15

Well that would ruin the surprise.

Curious to see what kind of reception this game will get.

19

IcedDice777  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:31 am

@ #24…. You’e correct! AMAZING eh? 1500 plus posts and NOT A SINGLE response.

20

Thrasher20  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:32 am

Awesome game :)

21

dreu81  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:33 am

cool. game looks nice.

22

Anti-Dentite  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:37 am

You know what’s funny. It finally made me realize just how crappy of a company Sony is this generation. It wasn’t the $600 price, no games, crappy online service, that idiot Koller, etc. It was 3.0 that opened my eyes. I’ll stick to PC gaming.

23

PYTHON101  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:38 am

Ummmm….. ever thought Sony plans on going through all those comments and since a lot of users have been posting needlessly I’m sure they were always refreshing to more and more comments so they’re going to take a break and see what’s going on although we know the next update will just be a fix.

Back on TOPIC! Heavy Rain looks really nice.

24

wbrinkman  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:44 am

Will we get a free animated heavy rain ps3 theme? (please note the free bit)

25

THE_LIGHT_05  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:44 am

Heavy Rain keeps gettin’ better and better!

26

ghamdikh1  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:51 am

THE BEST GAME EVER

27

Sindred  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:51 am

#2. Your posting on Heavy Rain about the disapproval of an interface change in the system is epic fail. Jesus, do you want a Happy Meal with that toy? I don’t think I’ll enjoy Heavy Rain any less because of the 3.0 interface, but still people go on. What? Do you stare at you PS3 XMB when you log on, or do you play games?

28

JukeboxAddict  |  September 1st, 2009 at 11:54 am

People are complaining in here because “Thanks for your feedback!” isn’t much of a response. There are intelligent customers discussing legitimate complaints around here, and Sony is just brushing it off. Please don’t screw us over until 2010.

29

Darth-Krayt  |  September 1st, 2009 at 12:18 pm

Chris Morell is hot. I rate him a 5/5.

Really looking forward to this game. It’s a shame it’s so underappreciated by gamers. Heavy Rain is a revolution in interactive story telling. I personally don’t look at the QTEs at QTEs. They’re more like controlling you character in a different way. They’re more like on-screen action bottons. And all the different ways the story can turn out is just astounding.

My first run through of the game is going to consist of me letting all the characters die at the very first possible chance to do so, and work my way up from there systematically to TRY and see every possible outcome, or at least as many as possible before I go bananas.

I’ve been a gamer since the EARLY 80’s and owned every major console in real time. And PS3 has made this gan BY FAR my favorite of all. PS3 exclusives are some of the best games of all time. And they are CONSISTENTLY good quality.

maddymad  |  September 1st, 2009 at 12:19 pm

I am so excited about this game. I can’t wait to play it!

31

Onna76_NL  |  September 1st, 2009 at 12:36 pm

A dynamic theme of Heavy Rain adapted to life with playstation weather notification in your country / town… could that be possible? Probably thinking of something entirely impossible but hey… a girl may dream haha…. either way dynamic theme of the game would be awesome anyway and even more when its free hehe.

Dice_for_Death_  |  September 1st, 2009 at 1:07 pm

I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this title, and witness/play the myriad approaches there are to every single encounter, friendly or otherwise.

34

commedieu  |  September 1st, 2009 at 1:17 pm

You guys should really give Indigo Prophecy a shot if you haven’t already. At least you will know what to expect.

Its a mix of(controls/vibe/types of gameplay)

GTA & Resident Evil 1-3

35

SPARDA  |  September 1st, 2009 at 1:25 pm

This game has the “2010 GOTY” seal all over it.

Thanks for posting the interview

Jesus, this game just keeps getting more and more spectacular. This will without a doubt be my favorite game of all time, or at least tied with Uncharted 2.

42

YoungMellz  |  September 1st, 2009 at 2:16 pm

i love this game, oh man! it just gets better.. even the menu looks good lol

Looks really good…

44

BigPoppaB  |  September 1st, 2009 at 2:24 pm

it seems like all the best parts of the game happen in QTE.. which isnt a bad thing for some but I still recall buying Dragons Lair on Sega CD and being devastated. Not gonna make same mistake twice

45

ndw4  |  September 1st, 2009 at 2:40 pm

Day-one purchase for me.

48

Wuggyboobeaufuf  |  September 1st, 2009 at 3:00 pm

I want to know what these rumblings of DLC are about.

*ANY* hint of DLC = an *incomplete* game and will be a NO sale for me.

shadowkiller11  |  September 1st, 2009 at 3:19 pm

I’m certainly pre-ordering this i wonder if there will be any bonuses in doing so? Also who are the immature idiots rating all the articles down because of 3.0? are they trying achieve something?
