Today, we are very happy to announce the COLD FRONT downloadable pack for SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation. Loaded with new features and content, this pack brings a brand new snowy Eastern European area of operations into play with two all new maps and three classic SOCOM maps for 16 to 32 players. The classic maps are drawn from some of the most popular SOCOM maps of all time, each built from the ground up for the PS3!

SOCOM Cold Front Logo

Kit yourself out in snow gear and fight your way through blizzard conditions, joining a team of mercenaries or a squad from one of the world’s top Special Forces regiments including the Russian Spetsnaz.

Try your hand at Arms Run, a new game mode that features dynamically placed missile launchers that must be activated or destroyed, depending on which side you’re fighting for.

Employ the new thermal vision scope weapon attachment to track your enemies’ heat signatures – vital in the dark and useful in daylight for picking out white camouflaged adversaries. In addition, we have new primary weapons to make use of and new attachments.

  • OK I JUST WANT TO SAY … @ 17..I AGREE WITH YOU 95% YES ITS RUNNING WELL AFTER A FEW PROBLEMS AND I DO PLAY IT EVERY FREEKING DAY..I LOVE THE GAME AS MUCH AS YOU DO..BUT TO SAY THAT SOCOM COMBINED ASSAULT RUINED IT..IS NOT TRUE. I LOVED THE NEW VEICHLE ASSPECT OF THYE BROUGHT TO THE GAME. IM ALL ABOUT MAKING GAMES BETTER..AND IMO SOCOM:CA WAS AND STILL IS MY FAV. ANYWHO FOR THOSE WHO ARE PATIENTLY WAITING FOR THE FREE STUFF..THERE IS..NOT MUCH BUT THERE WILL BE FREE STUFF..AND THE PRICE FOR 5 MAPS AND A BUNCH OF NEW CONTENT IS WORTH THE 15 BUKS IMO. SO FOR THOSE THAT DOUBT SOCOM RIGHT NOW..DONT! ITS WELL WORTH IT RIGHT NOW AS JUST AS FUN AS THE CLASSICS.

  • HAHAHAHA! $14.99?! are you [DELETED] serious? this should be F R E E for all the trouble slant 6 has give SOCOM fans that bought this broken piece of crap. WE WANT ZIPPER BACK, SOCOM 4 BY ZIPPER OR BUST! this will probably be the least purchased DLC, or anything, on the PS Store ever. i honestly can’t believe they have the nerve to ask us to pay money for this DLC, let alone $15.

  • Priced way too high.

  • so sad that I defended and played this game as long as I did

I know too many people that feel the same way, it’s unfortunate that we’ve had to deal with this, considering we were so adamant that the game was going to be fixed and running with no problems, then the maps and guns!

first off, we know there are limited guns…the number of guns for a SOCOM and PS3 game is pathetic, 7 maps? How many are old ones? That’s sad…oh, what about these features that aren’t available? Oh wait, that’s right they finally dropped roughly a year after release, but we still have our sorry map selection

they ruined it with no UCRR, they ruined it with the paltry number of guns and maps, they ruined it with their inability to patch/update the game without creating more bugs and issues

it’s like a nightmare for SOCOM fans, turns out right when they thought they woke up, they didn’t…it continues. wake up everyone! wake up! it’s all just a dream!

  • OMG so negative.

No matter what your feelings are on the game, ever since 1.5 patch, the game plays much better. Considering everything you are getting in this DLC pack, its a steal for $14.99. Would I pay less? gladly but I will be picking up this day 1 without hesitation. I mean 5 new maps, a new faction, new guns, new game mode. Thanks for the update.

  • People complaining about price are idiots. This is a lot of content which had to be worked on. Someone needs to pay the wages of the people who made it. That requires money

  • I’ve had Socom Confrontation for about 2 months now I bought the bundle edition… But I haven’t been able to play it since then I have to download a patch and every day I try it i end up getting to like 30% or so and it stops downloading… but I’ve also been able to play all my other games online like Killzone 2, Grand theft auot 4, Uncharted 2, Metal gear solid 4 and so on, they all required patches and those were easy to download… SOMEBODY HELP PLEASE!!!

  • 15 bucks….LOL LOL LOL LOL

With the crap /6 has pulled with this game, it should be free.

  • I had been looking for games to trade in recently to help pay for Demon’s Souls and I was on the EDGE of trading in Socom but then I remembered reading about how new map packs would be coming out this fall, so I waited on making that move. Then I saw this post heading and I was excited. Needless to say, like many others, I saw that this wasn’t free, or at least cheap… and I lost any desire to hold on to this game… the map pack was the last hope I had on this game and I read through all of the information and was really excited but the price tag isn’t worth it in my opinion. I’m glad they did it and I’m sure it’ll be great, it looks like some of their best effort yet, but I won’t be getting it… it’s a shame…

  • WTF? $15 dollars & it may take 32 weeks to get a definite answer on a patch to fix the dlc. Yeah right! I have slant zero faith in these developers for info or a working update, patch or dlc. What happened to the free French special forces,spas12,sr-25 & update????
Answer? Of course no answer, just the word “soon” for 32 weeks.

  • garbage LOL

I would have bought this 3 months ago, and yeah, they recently got all those features out but have you already forgotten that s*** was buggy and faulty when it was released?

just like it’s been with everything SOCOM:C

they patch the game for a fix, but in the process they introduce more bugs and issues

hah this is gonna be awesome, it’s going to be so horrible, it’s not going to be any different

well, except they get to rob you all again

am gonna support games/devs that ACTUALLY put time and effort into their game

taking a year for maps/extra guns/factions is NOT TAKING TIME, it’s sitting on yo A$$

see those money signs? that’s the point, they’re just doing it for the money, they’re not worried about providing a legit game for us, they ruined SOCOM

  • you people are hilarious, people will pay 10 bucks for 3 maps in COD without pause but 5 maps and a ton more stuff for 15 bucks and you people just whine and whine and whine, i’ll be buying this

  • @57
That is why we paid the wages for a good game in the first place, @ $39.99 via PSN there should be plenty of profit for sans-Case+Printed Material.

    Go Eat Dodger Dog! LOL.

  • WAIT, YOU MEAN SLANT SIX, WHO MADE THE WORSE SOCOM EVER…WITH GLITCHES, FREEZES, RESTARTS, AND LORD KNOWS TONS OF OTHER ISSUES EXPECT PEOPLE TO BUY THE ADD-ON CONTENT…YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME…SLANT SIX CAN RECEIVE A SLANT 6 FOR ALL I CARE…IT TOOK ALMOST A YEAR W/ ALL THE UPDATES FOR THEM TO MAKE THE SERVER/GAME OPERATE HALF ASSIDILY RIGHT…..THIS IS A BIG THUMBS DOWN….LEAVE ZIPPER TO SOCOM…AND FOR ALL YOU NAY SAYERS…WHY DID SONY CLOSE THE THREAD ON FORUMS FOR SOCOM????EXACTLY…WORSE MADE EXCLUSIVE EVER!!!!!

  • To be honest. I feel that socom for ps3 sucks. I bought it on launch day and feel I got charged for a Beta. Keep your $14.99 pack. If my game wasn’t a digital rip-off, I would’ve sold it long ago. As I haven’t played it but only a few times.

Good job slant 6 – you suck. You devs at /6 may want to find a new job. As you’ll never get my hard earned $ again.

BTW: That was the last “real” downloadable game I will ever buy.

  • Yeah, SOCOM:C has really just been one big disappointment. Looks like that story isn’t going to change.

Yeah, people will no doubt buy it. Especially the SOCOM Fanatics from the SOCOM.COM Boards – the longer this charade goes on the dumber they all look. Buy this, support the worst SOCOM game ever made, support a dev who could possibly take the cake for the worst launch/release/overall product ever. They really dropped the ball on SOCOM:C, yet some people are really too stupid to see it.

    Game isn’t even that good.

People should keep their 15 dollars and support a dev/game that actually took some time, care, and passion to make. Buy something else off the PSN, support something worthy of your money!

  • What b*** slap with the hand open to all the supporters. I bought this game on day one and was just so disappointed but I stuck with it see if the patch did anything, YEAH right fix one thing crap on everything else. And those trophies, talk about meaning something, those requirements are ridiculous.

Anyways I’m glad I got rid of it, gave it to my bro, the only good thing i got from it was the mic!

I don’t have the game, but I have the to give them a piece of my mind for the crap they pull with us fanssss. Go F*** yourself!!!!

  • b.s. 14.99 for dlc… i will now completely quit playing this game, it is now deleted from my ps3

  • @64

Uhh no. You do know that that was for the main game (which also required paying wages). The expansion took people time and effort, and they deserve paying for it

  • i am now officially done playing this game

  • LOL. $14.99? Your out of your minds. Not to mention I traded this game in awhile back and for such a broken POS you want $14.99 for more?

Fool me once shame on you
Fool me twice shame on me.

And it wont happen twice. I’m done with /6.

  • @63
You’re absolutely right. I paid good money for Killzone 2 DLC without a second thought. The difference being I actually got a full, working game when I bought Killzone. All I got with SOCOM is a nice headset for $60.

I’m not going to sit here and whine about $14.99. I’ll just say this was an opportunity for Sony and Slant6 to step up to the plate and make things right. They failed…terribly.

Thank goodness for other, real games.

  • $14.99? No thank you. Post another update when it’s free, like it should be.

  • I’ll be playing Uncharted.

  • Nonsense, release Dissidia.

  • @ 73

Well said, not sure why I’m shocked or even posting. Maybe because I am shocked even though I SHOULDN’T be shocked.

This was a chance to TRY and redeem themselves, somewhat, as we know that full redemption was not possible at this point.

It’s been one thing after another with this, it’s obviously not changing. I would have no problems buying DLC for a game that worked right off the bat, a game that displayed how much time and effort was actually put into the game, a game that shows the devs really do care and know how to do work.

This wouldn’t have saved SOCOM:C, but it would have made the whole thing a bit more palpable. 9.99 for 24 hours? What a crock of [DELETED], it’s something like that that really gets me going.
Funny we had to wait this long for new maps, and in turn they try and bend us over again.

The BT is the only good thing that happened with SOCOM:C

  • @Coramoor_
it’s not the price people are mad about if you think about it, it’s the fact that /6 released a BROKEN, virtually unplayable game, they werent able to make it playable for 6+ months after releases, they didnt ADD the features that was advertised to be in the game at release until…what, 9+ months after release, and now they are asking us for $15. yea, people will gladly pay $10 for DLC for CoD, why? beacause it didnt come with all the stuff i just listed above. CoD actually works and is fun, SOCOM:C was broke for so long and isnt really fun because we had to wait so long to actually play it in the state that it should have been at release. so yea, this would have been the perfect opprotunity to say “we’re sorry, we know we messed up, take this DLC for free as an apology for everything.” but no, i guess they just cant admit that they are wrong or something, or they know that people will be dumb enough to buy this pack and they’re milkin this game for everything they can. it’s [DELETED] sad, i dont respect /6. they need to give up making games altogether. i hope they dont shut down the REAL SOCOM servers, because thats the only SOCOM i wanna play until Zipper takes back the show.

  • Is this the DLC thats supposed to be free at first and now it isnt? I dont know, but I feel a bit ripped of. Doesnt come suprising though. But I’m busy playing Uncharted2 and Modern Warfare2 anyways, so I guess I have no time left to spend money on a game that isnt/wasnt that good at start anyways. If it were as the box said it would be I wouldve been glad to get slant6 some more money for their efford but this seems just not right.

    -Hardknox

  • I understand that Sony, Slant Six, and Zipper are in this to make money, but i have to be very very honest here. I think this is too late. For those of us that have played MAG, i think it’s easy to say that i’m not going to spend money for something that i’m only going to spend about 3 more months playing. Had this come out 3-6 months ago i probably would have been all over it. But it’s mid october now. I just bought Uncharted 2.. i got fresh 3rd person gaming right there. How can i justify spending $15 on this?? I cant. And dont get me wrong.. i really want to play Blizzard and Vigilance… But i’m sorry. It’s just not going to happen. There’s alot of great games releasing this fall and winter. I need to maximize my gaming dollars.

  • 15.00 really????.Sorry but no thanks this should be free.

  • A year after release and youre finally putting this out and its $15. You’re out of your mind if you expect this to sell at all.

  • Slant 6, give thanks to god I bought the game from the psn…cos if not I would have traded it ages ago.

AND NO I WON’T buy that pack at that price…for $15 bucks you might as well do a new game (not related to the SOCOM franchise at all…)

  • I think the game should have come out this year, instead of the busy and hectic 2008. It would have made this game a system seller. It was unplayable the first day and came out on disc as a beta. Just look at cod, look how polished that series is, look how much it sells, coincidence I think not.

  • I won’t bother posting any hate (there is plenty on here already); but I do feel that you have overpriced the DLC, and I won’t be picking it up.

  • I love this game and I am really happy I kept it (bought it at launch). I ended up playing it not too long ago and I am surprised at how much fun this game is.

Wont be buying this pack though.. $15 is a little too steep for me. Its a huge huge pack I know, I mean 5 maps!?!!! Maybe it would have been better if you guys broke this down into two packs for $7.99 (and still sell the 15 dollar one), then Id buy one.

  • i purchased this game on day one couldnt play online for days cus off a bad launch. the back of the box was a lie and now u have the balls to charge 15 bucks gtfo.. free or i will never buy a slant 6 game again

  • $15? Come on Sony…

  • ok can i just say..$15 is too much..MANY OF YOU THINK SO..but if they would put $2 per map which then $3 for costume pack..IT WOULD BE ABOUT THE SAME PRICE..lol YES SLANT 6 IS A SLOW COMPANY BUT THEY DELIVER!

  • Never really played SOCOM, so I can only give you an outsider’s view, but here goes anyway. This does look like a pretty substantial update, And it’s certainly more than a simple map pack, but with that said I’m fairly certain the price point is going to be a little high for most gamers. $14.99 is going to drive people away from it. $9.99 is much more reasonable, given the game’s issues and the time that’s passed between launch and now. In addition, $9.99 seems to be the standard price point for add-ons like this.

  • Please Slant 6…start making xbox games…and leave us without your “greatest multiplayer games” and “every 6 months downloadable content for free”…

You sold us an old hag covered in supermodel clothes.

    We won’t be fooled again…

  • WOW… I thought that the DLC was going to be free for what I read in the Socom Blog.
“PATCH 1.5 UPDATE posted by Cindy Bowens”
…”After Update 1.50 is released, it will be followed by Update 1.60 which will include free downloadable content”…
    “Posted on 8/12/2009 4:00 PM”
    Check It

  • FINALLY!! It’s about time. I’ll buy the first day for the $9.99 price. Thermal Scope should end the water camping.

  • @ number 8

you ate quiznos the most expensive sandwich place out there and you are complaining about the price of the dlc?

hmm one and a half sandwiches or socom dlc?

    i choose dlc.

  • $14.99? Lol. No thanks Slant Six after that TERRIBLE release of Socom you made last October. If they game had been delayed, and shipped with THIS pack and the 1.60 patch with everything working it would have been an awesome game, but alas, it will never be.

That been said, even with this pack the graphics engine in the game is still very sub par.

All told I think Socom with the 1.50 IS actually a good game now, but very few will ever know because of its horrible release and terrible first 6 months.

In the end I think Zipper made a huge mistake giving up Socom to make MAG, Socom was a unique, awesome series and MAG is just another FPS with crappier graphics to bring more players at once.

  • Wow, I feel so sad. I love Socom. It was by far my favorite game on PS2 and the reason I got a PS3 instead of an Xbox 360. I had such high hopes for this game. I defended the beta and even the game, but the truth was, it’s horrible. It’s certainly much better now, but we shouldn’t have to wait an extra year for a game to get the features that were advertised on the box!

The people who are complaining are right (this time) If any game should be giving away free DLC, it’s this one. Anyone who bought this game at launch had to put up with a TON of crap. I think we deserve something here.

It sucks for me, because I’ve been a fan of Socom since DAY ONE on PS2. I want Blizzard and Night Stalker, but I’m not going to spend another dime on this game, especially when it’s not even as good as the Uncharted 2 DEMO!

  • Most of this stuff should just be free in the 1.60 patch. I can’t believe I paid $60 for this crap game that took a year to get good (with the 1.50 patch) and then have to read suddenly they are charging MORE for this around the time MW2 comes out. This is unreal. THIS SHOULD BE FREE. NO ONE BUY THIS.

  • Then what free stuff are they taking about?

  • #8 complains about $15 DLC and then eats overpriced garbage like quiznos…bit hypocritical I think.

  • What a joke this should be free
    DLC probably broken anyway
socom will not get none of my money
    fooled once already

  • this should be free What a joke
    DLC probably broken anyway
socom will not get none of my money
    fooled once already
