I’d be interested to see what kind of people want to watch a failed marriage and awkward situations coming from a binding TV contract while they try to not emotionally scar their eight children…(Jon and Kate Plus 8) Where’s Child Services when it’s actually needed?

Shame what happened with Naruto… Don’t suppose they’d be willing to sign an exclusivity deal with the PSN… That would be pretty cool, and I’m betting they need funding.

Yeah screw this, I’m just going to stay with iTunes for all my movies and tv show because this is sad that Sony just won’t even dignify us with an answer for this movie store. Seriously guys, a year and a half and you still keep us in the dark??? Even if it does EVER come to Canada I’m saying screw you, you should have kept us in the loop instead of ignoreing us for sooooo long.

17

+ KSPRAYDAD on October 16th, 2009 at 10:30 am said:

@1 Kristi’s answer…

You can’t announce whether you are working on it or not? That is all Canadian users are looking for at this point.

I fail to see any strategic benefit to SONY (but see much downside as I have moved on to iTunes and bought an Xbox just for the video service)…you may be able to garner extra future sales by at least saying you are working on it. If you are not working on it all of the Canadians can move on instead of asking everyweek.

Is the same team responsible for the video licensing also the team responsible for the Comic book store licensing? If it is…can you give us a time line as to when rollout two would be happening (PSNCOMICS on twitter announced that Canada wasn’t in roll out one).

I’m pretty you should be writing letters to your local government asking them to disband the CRTC (Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission)…google it.

the CRTC has been ruining opportunity’s like this for years, as well as killing Canadian content/artists with over saturation on our radio an dtelevisions.

Sony is not to blame for this.

+ KSPRAYDAD on October 16th, 2009 at 12:01 pm said:

It is purely licensing issues. Apple worked it out. MS worked it out. SONY has not. Simple. There is already precedent in Canada for this type of service.

Nice to see come replies from the team! :)

1. When are HBO shows like ‘Bored to Death’ and ‘In Treatment’, and ‘Big Love’ coming?

2. I love the selection of Adult Swim shows–but since most of them are 10 minutes, can they have a lower price?

3. What’s the hold up with getting Glee in HD?

4. Any estimates on when we’ll get DTS surround sound on the HD shows?

5. My husband and I love ‘My Life on the D List’, but were noticing that it is EXTREMELY pixelated. Not macro-blocking — it looks like a problem with the video source you guys were given. This needs to be fixed; we’re going to rent the DVDs from Netflix until it is.

6. When will we get re-download rights for the same machine? This kind of draconian policy is what pushed a lot of people off of the XBox360, and I find it really off-putting. Microsoft eventually fixed the policy and technology issues around this; when will Sony?

Having decent video and audio bitrates on the SD content makes it a better value over cable/satelite, and even DVD in some cases.
Keep up the good work, thanks!

One thing I would like to note however – have you guys ever thought about an official Canadian PSBlog? As you have obviously seen, there are a LOT of Canadian PS gamers, and it would be awesome to have our own PSBlog with news, content, and contests relative to us.

It would be awesome if you could mention it to any powers that be.

Please reply.

I’ve had an account with the PS Store for about a year and have bought several dlc, games and a few tv episodes but last week I decided to finally give the movie rental on the store a try. I decided to rent Trick r’ Treat since it was a movie I have been looking forward to see. I rented the movie, let it download and check the first 10 seconds or so to see if it was working and it was so I stopped it to watch another day. Then the next day or day after that I went to finally sit down and watch it and it was expired!?

I check the Information tab on the movie and it says –

Started: 10/11/2009
Expired: 10/12/2009

What happened? I feel cheated and frustrated! I spent $3.99 to see 10 seconds of a movie? I don’t see how I could have done anything wrong. I would like to be able to watch the movie or get my $3.99 back. I would love to use the PS store for rentals but my first experience has me very discouraged.

Please reply.

Hey Velzorn, sorry that happened to you. Once you purchase a rental you have 14 days to start the video. Once you hit play you have 24 hours to view the movie. So, when you hit play to check out the video that started your 24 hour viewing window. The 24 hour viewing window is pretty standard for watching a digital rental. There was a note right before you bought the video noting the usage terms. Either way I\’m sorry this happened to you.

You can only view the videos for the following amount of time:
You have up to 14 days to download the video after completing the purchase. This time limit is also the maximum time available to view the video.
You have up to 24 hours to view the content after the first time it is played (assuming there are 24 hours or more before the 14 days expire).

I know that but if you read all my post it said it started the 11th and expired the 12th. The only way that could have happened is if I watched it for 24 hours straight, which I didn’t do because I stopped the movie after 10 seconds and played games. Thus my frustration.
