MAG Public Beta Update (v1.30)

Seth Luisi's Avatar Posted by on Oct 22, 2009 // Director of Development, SCEA

This morning we released a new MAG Public Beta update. The new MAG Public Beta update includes a new PSN Title update (version 1.30) and new game data. This new MAG Public Beta release includes over 8,000 updates and fixes, too many to list in detail. You can start downloading it now to have it ready for when the servers open at 10:00 a.m. PDT.

Some of the patch highlights are:

  • Framerate improvements in all environments
  • Vote/ Kick implemented
  • Art and lighting updates to all levels
  • Art updates to weapons, vehicles and objects
  • Animation improvement and updates
  • Client patching improvements
  • Design tuning on all environments (attacker/defender, out of bounds, sightlines, routing…)
  • Tuned all skills (skill point expense, skill trees, skill effects)
  • Tuning pass on experience rewarded for all actions (resuscitate, heal other, destroy turret, destroy motor pool….)
  • Tuning pass on player & leadership experience progressions
  • Full audio tuning pass
  • Bunker, APC, and Spawn camera adjustments
  • Lowered initial spawn times for attackers and defenders for all gametypes
  • Update Major/Minor victory and loss percentages and conditions for all gametypes
  • Updated Domination gametype scoring values
  • Improved weapon feel and hit feedback

A lot of the changes are based directly on feedback from the MAG Public Beta community. Please keep this feedback coming, it really helps us improve the title.

If you are not yet a part of the MAG Public Beta there is still time. If you pre-order MAG at GameStop in the US or EB Games in Canada you receive access to the MAG Public Beta. And remember, from November 9th until November 20th the only way to access the MAG Public Beta in North America is to pre-order MAG.

We look forward to seeing you in battle.

Just a quick thought to the guy’s and gal’s at Zipper. It would be great if you could make it so the updates can run in the back ground like it does in Guild Wars. It would alot of your players happy i’m sure of this. Thanks for your time. Also your game rocks. Socom is going 2 take a big hit when this comes out. Great job!

Yesss! I can’t wait to break out the LAG SWITCH again and make sure i skip across the map with grenade launchers!!!

Please ZIPPER! Please create the game so where the best connection has the best chance of survival unlike the socom serious where the worst connection wins.
And pick a host where they have a NAT type 1 only and has the best connection to deal out to everyone else that’s playing. That will ruin the game and drop your frames per second if the host lags AND the noobs run around shooting m203’s as their primary weapon. Make it so you have to reach a very high level before you can break out the m203’s or airbursts.

You supposed feedback and info site does not work. All I get is the lengthy user agreementhen i hit accept, and nothing happens. Whats up with that?

I got a problem with another group getting whooped and my group takes the loss. If we take care of business on our map, then we should win. Let each company be seperate or let us be able to help each other.

If u want the beta for mag go to gamestop and preorder it. They give you a card with a scratch-off area that has a code you enter at the ps store. 5 bucks is all it costs to preorder.

Forget push to talk, just give us the option to mute a player and thats fine. Theres enough buttons to push already without adding more.

There was a team killer on my squad last night, [DELETED]!! Love the kick option.

After the latest option, ots impossible to win with valor while defending. They run right through us, or the other company. I think our base is not set up right. SVER’s and Ravens bunkers can cover each other, ours cant. The turrets for those two can aim almost straight down and ours cant. Our field of view sucks too. The glitch with the mortar is messed up as well. And who would set a base on a sloped area with a front to back slope. Not very STRATEGIC!!!

I don’t understand. I have preordered MAG at gamestop but never recieved the codes for the Public Beta. Anyone know why?

+ medoo911 on November 5th, 2009 at 3:07 am said:

why u don’t make it demo ????????

+ SECTACY on November 6th, 2009 at 4:07 pm said:

Right. I’ll stick to call of duty. even though this games sole purpose is to make x-box feel like oh sony has a new exclusive coming out… you guys need to tell bungee “hey whatever xbox is paying we will double it give me halo.” now that would make you a cool 150 mill easily.

This could have already been said or maybe this may not make sense to some people but I have a possible solution to the vote kick problem. What if vote kick was only possible for those with a certain amount of team kills or a certain amount of time spent AFK? This would appease those who don’t wish to be kicked just because their not playing with their clan etc. Every FPS needs a vote kick feature because no matter how hard the dev’s try its impossible for them to keep out those who live only to ruin others game.
