PlayStation Network Video Content Update

Hi Everyone,

Here’s the list of top downloads and new arrivals on the Video Store this week.

We have a few new releases to note: Orphan, The Proposal, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, and Battlestar Galactica: The Plan. Plus, yesterday on the game store we released our first ever TV-related dynamic theme for one of our most popular shows — South Park! Check it all out this weekend.

Last week I posted this:
I have spend about $500+ on the Games and about $30 on the Videos. If I run out of room, I can delete a game, and then download again later. If I delete a video, it’s gone, period. Until Sony fixes the DRM model for video, I won’t be building a collection any time soon.

And got this:

Do you have to delete it? Did you know you can hook up an external storage drive, off load your videos and restore them back on your PS3 when you’re ready to watch’em?

And I now say:
Doesn’t help me with my PSP. Besides PS3 is a pain to backup with, and doesn’t have automatic backup, or a way for me to backup online (Mozy, Carbonite, etc). Plus the DRM is only for one machine…. also sucky. Look SCEA, this works with iTunes (barely) because we are downloading to a computer, playing on up to 5 computers, and easily backing up automatically to as many redundant drives as we want. Please fix the sucky video DRM, I would like to start building a video collection for my PSP.

  I\’m a little confused. You can share anything you purchase in SD on the video store with up to 3 PSPs so why wouldn\’t this help? It\’s pretty easy to back up files to an external storage on the PS3. If you want to build a collection for your PSP and store videos on your computer there\’s Media Go. http://www.us.playstation.com/PSN/mediago It\’s free, have you tried that out? You can purchase everything from the PlayStation Video Store and store all the videos you want on your PC and transfer them over to your PSP when you\’re ready to fly. Hope that helps.

how you doing Grace ? i have a Question i have a ps3 and a psp GO what if i decide to buy an HD movie from the store ( because i like my movies on Hi DEF on my ps3 ) and then i want to see it on my psp GO ??? can i do it or just work with standard definition movies??? do i need to buy or rent the same movie in standard definition to see it on my psp GO ? and 1 more request , make PULSE weekly and longer ( with exclusive developers interviews, exclusive access to sony first and second party studios and tons of more content ) i really enjoy the show

  Standard defs videos can be shared between a PS3 and up to 3 PSPs. You can rent or buy a movie in standard def and share it, just remember the 14day/24 hour timer rule still applies for rented movies.

Hells yeah, Naruto Shippuden takes the top spots! Hopefully they’ll start dubbing more now. Damn shame Cartoon Network dropped the show, but then again perhaps it will stop being turned into a kiddie show.

Grace the PSN store has a PSP game in the trophy section and Lemmings I thought had added trophies but not in that section.

Having to use MediaGO, or otherwise leave the PS3 and go to another entertainment device is a pretty poor consumer experience. We just plain want to be able to re-download videos we have already purchased, period. Please fix.

On another note, why aren’t Showtime shows in HD? Further, when can we expect some of their better shows like Queer as Folk and Huff in HD?

We love the Logo content — please add the Big Gay Sketch Show and Dante’s Cove!

Still waiting on HBO content, preferrably in HD! New season of Life & Times of Tim starts soon and I don’t want to have to leave my PS3 to watch it :)

And lastly, still waiting on a fix for the horrendous video quality of most of the Bravo shows; especially My Life on the D-List. It is extremely pixellated; looking like upscaled 320×240 video–no exaggeration.

Keep up the good work, however slow the visible progress is :)

Wow, my first PSN Video purchase was Religulous, and now Jesus Camp is up too. You sure know how to cater to us atheists!

And I can’t believe people are still clueless about backing up. When you copy a PSN SD video from your PS3 to your PSP, the files appear in MLN_ROOT\LICENSE and VIDEO on your memory stick.

I just copy those files (in that exact folder structure) to my hard drive, which I eventually burn to DVD-R. The videos are then ready to be watched simply by dragging and dropping to the root of my memory stick, and they’ll play on my activated PSP. I don’t even need to sign in to backup to/restore from my hard drive or DVD-R, either.

Hi! I live in Jamaica too! The reason why you can’t access the PSN Video Store is because it is a service currently only available to people living in the United States.

Every Season 9 Episode of Smallville other than the first two are not letting anyone click them. I have tried from various systems and accounts. Please fix this problem ASAP. Many people want the last few episodes (again, the recent release ones are the ones that aren’t working). Thank you.

Nevermind…. after further research I found that those episodes don’t actually air until early November. The 11/5 for Bones and 11/9 for House, I’ll be looking forward to seeing them on the PSN after that. 8^)

Why do you keep not answering the question.

It is simple.

I want to be able to redownload my content to any machine that my PSN is related too…up to say a max of 3 machines. I also should be able to deactivate a machine and get my redownload quota back.

This isn’t rocket science.

Until then DONT BUY CONTENT ON PSN. Rental only.

I wish that more anime companies would put vids up for you guys. i already bought and downloaded all episodes of solty rei, evangelion, burn up access and all episodes of speed ghraphier.

Yes. I click on the link that normally leads to the buy now/add to cart screen, but the link is void. I’ve tried this on 3 computers using different access points (via media go). Other links to buy now/add to cart screens work perfectly fine. I’ve tried the same thing directly on my PSP, and I encounter the same problem.

One quick question… I am military overseas with a US account. Currently living in Germany, I can not access or purchase anything from the video store. Maybe because I am accessing from Europe? Shooting in the dark, hopeing someone might know if there is anything I can do. The help center just redirects me to the setup section over and over again. God knows, I few movies on my system make my time in the sandbox easier. Thanks in advance.

I was not aware Sony moderators joined in the comments and discussion threads. I’m assuming this is not the first time this has been brought up, but has anyone asked about a subscription rental service? Like instead of paying per rental, you just pay a flat $30 fee for unlimited HD rentals? I’m dying for that feature. I refuse to pay the cable company (even though I now work for them). They reek of oil industry-type profit margins.

Hey, this is the first time I’ve ever left a comment on here. I don’t buy very many movies or T.V. shows on the store, I try to use my system for PS3 games only. In the past I have bought a few epidoes Smallville though. But all of that is not important, I want Dragonball Z. And Dragonball, and all of that good stuff. If Sony added those shows to it’s collection then I would be buying those up left and right. Will we ever see the Dragonball manga on the PSN?
