The next time you start up UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves you will be required to download an update to the game (Japan and Asia regions — your update will be available next week).
Here’s the list of (most of) the changes we made. Some changes have been withheld to protect the innocent.
- Addressed respawn points when the artifact goes out of bounds in the Plunder gametype
- Dynamically adjust the win condition for fewer players during the course of a match
- Added features to deter players from voluntarily leaving during a match
- Added rate limit to “When a Chapter is Completed” Twitter event
- Fixed a display issue during letterboxing
- Fixed Danish Trophy description
- Fixed screenshot utility in standard definition resolutions
- Fixed the “Players Met” list not displaying recent players
- Addressed a variety of Multiplayer connectivity issues

With Halloween on the horizon, we wanted to take this spooky occasion to announce that this weekend is also our first ever Double Cash Weekend in UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves. The Double Cash Weekend starts on Friday, October 30, 2009, at 11:00 AM PST and continues until Monday, November 2, 2009, at 11:00 AM PST.
In every match during Double Cash Weekend, you’ll be getting twice the Cash award you normally would for completing typical game actions – not medal-related currency awards – giving everyone a leg up in increasing their Rank for a limited time. That means this weekend is the perfect time to hop on to our Competitive and Co-op Multiplayer modes – whether you’re just a few levels away from the vaunted ‘X’ or this is just your first time online.
A bunch of Naughty Dogs will also be playing this weekend, so be on the lookout for the red Naughty Dog paw next to our PSN ID in the game and feel free to say hi, ask any questions or shoot at our characters. Stay sharp! There might be something spooky around the next corner…
Amazing game. I love the 40,000 dollar penalty. However, I do have some suggestions.
1. When voting on co op arena or other modes, can we have a choice between two different games? For example, vote between survival and gold rush. Don’t make both options the same game type. Some times this does happen, but rarely.
2. Can we put a time delay, like 3 seconds, for dropping grenades at the beginning of elimination? I am tired of people throwing grenades once it starts and killing your teammates.
3. Can we get stats and medals on the game?
4. Are we going to have map packs?

hey im having some trouble i had this problem when the game came out but i gave u a while to seee if u would update it.
when im playing a game i ussally have the golden guns on but when i try to pick up ammo for the ak or pistol if its not a gold ak or pistol on the floor it will drop the gold ak and pick up a normal ak so i am getting no extra ammo i either have to turn of golden guns or try to make sure i only pick up golden guns for ammo and if i do that i sometimes go into a level with noone with golden guns plz change this as im getting pretty anoyied

Hey to all folks at Naughty Dog, congratulations with Uncharted 2, it’s definitely one of the best games you guys have made (I’ve been a fan of your work since the Crash Bandicoot/Playstation game days) and it’s definitely my favorite game on the PS3 (other than the first Uncharted that is). Anyhow, I’m loving this whole Halloween Double Cash thing but lately I’ve been having an issue with the online. Despite having a good connection (4-5 bars) for random matches, my character ends up freezing sometimes in mid-combat, which allows the enemy to walk right up to my face and have their way with me… If it helps anything, my custom made matches play seamlessly without any indications of lagging. I’ve checked online on some forums to see if the problem was simply a connection issue though apparently some other people have had the same freezing/lag issue that I’ve been experiencing since the update. Hope I get a response, thanks in advance :)
Nice event btw but I have a question, I recently played Deathmatch somehow I jumped into a laggy match near the end it did Connection Error though it was ok but I ended up getting a Penalty that removed me 40,000 and reduce my score on something. Is it normal?
Hi that iv played uncharted 2 and i saw the skeloton and the zombie dude but when will it come back to normal so you can be drake,elena and tenzin and more because i dont realy like them any more they are getting a little bit boring now. Thank you if you reply to this Playstation =D
I was playing earlier and got disconnected from the game. When I logged back in I was told that I didnt finish the game so I was being penalized $40,000. This is a really great game but how stupid can you guys get?! I know its a pain in the ass to have to play with only 2 people because of quitters, but did it ever occur to you guys that people have lives and emergencies may arise while playing? I think it would’ve been a better idea to limit this penalty to ranked matches only, I mean if youre gonna do this to all game types then atleast have an unranked mode where you’re just playing for fun and not have to worry about being docked $40K. You guys are smarter than that. WTF!
Please, remove this penalty thing, specially because of the connection error problems. Yesterday I had to quit the game because a friend of mine would like to join me, but I didn’t know of the penalty so I just quit the match.
This thing doesn’t add anything to the experience and only make us sad :/
The $40,000 penalty is a great idea, at first it was only a 30 second penalty which was useless. but the 40K works really well. I’ve seen it hinder people from quitting. Please don’t take it off. in fact..increase it a little bit, ha. Thanks!
The Uncharted 2 “Players Met” list (under the Party Up feature) is still broken – Recently met players are not showing up even with the patch installed.
Also, are these players supposed to be added to the PSN Players Met list? It would be confusing to have two different implementations.

Second comment on the 40k issue I was in a Co-op arena survival match and going from round 2 to 3 when the game didn’t respawn me and froze. I left the ps3 on for 5 mins came back still to see nothing had changed so reset the PS3. Once back in the game a message came up saying I quit the match resulting in a 40K fine and a rank reduction.
Why ND are you sabotaging your own game, the SP was incredible and the MP before the update was addictive and fun but now it just puts me off wanting to play.
Arne Meyer even if you don’t comment on any of the 20+ complaints on this blog at least let the ND team know before people stop playing altogether.
P.S Atrex7 you won’t be praising this “great idea” when you get a connection error and realise 40K has gone from your account.
I was reading articles on how your game run the cpu 100% and i own the game and i am amazed at how crisp it looks on my 1080p, despite the fact uncharted 2 only supports 720p. (my tv can display 480i 480p 720p 1080i 1080p)
so i was wondering, will you ever release a patch that adds 1080p support? The game burnout paradise got a patch and instead of just 720p, it now supports 1080p.
i hope you guys will at least consider it. ^_^
I was disconnected a few times from a match but I did not receive a penalty. Also..one of my friends online has a not so decent connection, he was disconnected about 4 times yesterday and not once did he receive a $40,000 penalty. So I’m guessing they’ve taken into account quitting vs. connection error.

Well what happened to me in my last comment was about 2 hours ago. Were those CEs your fault or someone elses.
For example if someone other than you leaves a 3 party Co-op match the match is cancelled and seen by the game as a CE. But because you didn’t initiate it there is no 40k penalty.
Or was it a competitive match where you just lost internet connection resulting in you falling out of the match involuntarily.
For me and my friends the second one always seems to end in a 40K penalty.
Sorry to spell it out was just wondering myself where the line currently is that ND has set on this issue.

Cool update, awesome multiplayer, but this anti-ragequit feature is getting annoying. Been having internet issues recently, and it’s diconnected me from a few games (that’s if the matchmaking finds a game). As a result, it has charged me $40,000 a good few times and dropped me from level 8 to level 1 as the game believe I quit the games without finishing them. I am being penalised for having internet issues… Fubar.
Anyway, can’t wait for the next update!
You REALLY need to fix the connection errors if you’re gonna take off 40k points for it. Doesn’t seem fair in the slightest. Gotten 2 connection errors and got bumped down a level. Doesn’t really make the game worth playing.
@PeteX19, I’m not sure what type of disconnection..just a connection error during deathmatch..I was disconnected from the playstation network for some reason, but I wasn’t docked $40K. I was also playing cooperative mode with a few of my friends, my friend was the host..he lost connection, so the game stopped..but didn’t lose 40K that time either. Yeah I’m in the USA.
So it seem im not the only one with this issue, but wouldnt it be better to warn the player first? For example in Tekken each time someone leave an online game by a connection error or something else they get warned the 1st time the 2nd time they get a penalty. Just giving out ideas.
I’m pretty sure I left a game right after I got the patch because of a weird family emergency and I didn’t get a penalty. It popped up and said I’d have a 30 second wait time… but that was it. I think. Maybe I lost 40 grand, but I didn’t lose a level.
A bunch of bad connection problems during this event. My character would freeze and my controller would do nothing to move him for a few minutes. Also system froze twice and I had to flip off power on the back of the PS3! This penalized me one of the times $40,000 saying I quit…BS. The event is over and my system froze right in the middle of a game. Since I had to power down it lgged me out of the halloween servers. I knew if I logged out around 11:00am PST that I would lose the double money promo so I kept my playstation on all day to reach level 40. hahahahahaha!

Every time I try and connect to multiplayer it says there is either an error syncing levels or other syncing problems. Its been like this all day. How can I fix this? thx
Heh, people complaining about the quit system hurting legit players.
Again, Arne: Good idea in theory, in execution (like the MM level-matching system): Flawed.
Go back to the 1.00 version, and just fix the shotgun’s insane auto-aim and you’d be set for life.
I updated game to 1.01 and now it hangs on loading screen i waited for 15 20 min its still not getting through.
