This week’s a short work/school week for most of you, including us at PlayStation. So, as it has gone down the past two Thanksgiving weeks, the PlayStation Store will update on Tuesday this week. So look for a (rather substantial) Store update on the afternoon of the 24th (PST). On Thursday, as we did last year, we’ll be posting the Black Friday Bulletin Board post, where you can share the best PlayStation deals and doorbusters to kick off the Holiday Shopping Season. I can tell you this much – there are some real steals to be had for those of you hoping to knock out the shopping list early this year.

Finally I wanted to give some early “Thanks” to our readers that voted in the Mashable Open Web Awards call for entries – we made it into the final list of nominees for Best Corporate Blog. Now, if you wouldn’t mind casting a final vote for us, we’ll have that much more to be thankful for this week.

    Well, Walmart has a good deal on the PS3, but it requires A)that you sell your soul to a corporation that exploits millions, from child laborers to those desperate for minimum wage/poor hours/no benefits, and seats one of the most overpaid CEOs in the world, and B) that you ignore the *extensive* advertising they do for _only_ the competing systems.

    And from the advertising going on with Modern Warfare 2, it seems that since M$ couldn’t have it as an actual exclusive, they figured they’d just take credit in all the ads. (Have you seen the one for Best Buy? That was just disgusting.)

    Really enjoying all the new Modnation Racers coverage (primarily from Destructoid).
    The game is on the top of my list for next year!

    Will there be any other ways of getting into the beta besides purchasing the LBP GOTY edition?
    I’m in the UK and the GOTY edition is unavailable here =(.

    PS. Add the Destructoid preview/videos to the list!

    @ 2 well if you see it that way cool but i and many don’t . I have both systems and i know alot of fanboys on both sides won’t agree with this comment but PS3 and 360 are on the same level when it come to online play, DLC and video service . I would have never said this two years ago but PSN and XBL are on the same level . Yes 360 have in game chat and ps3 have blu ray but people are not buying there system on just that feature . The only thing that make them different is one you will have to pay to play online , I do believe in game chat will come to ps3 but it will be a paid feature .

    BTW Jeff the videos on the blog still glitch and reset when you move your mouse cursor away from them, really annoying.

    I’m using FireFox 3.5.5 and Win 7 if that helps.

      It\’s it\’s the adblocker plugin for FF – you can dismantle it for this page and things should work fine (we\’ll never do pop ups on this page – promise)

    PLEASE tell the network team to fix PSN before adding new features to it. I, along with MANY other people, cannot synch trophies. The only thing customer service told me to do was to setup a new user and log into my PSN from there, which I will NOT do, because I platinumed Bioshock, and I will NOT go through that again. FIX IT PLEASE!!

    hey jeff with black friday comin a big question would we get alot of psn games on the psn store on discounts and what not? that would be so cool also idk if u all know yet but since the update i cant watch videos off the ps blog

      I don\’t know how many games were ever made due to threats. Keep buying Demon\’s Souls, and I\’m sure you\’ll see more of it. That applies to any game, really.

    Great week for ps fans, im enjoying the hell out of AC2 and im loving that connectivity with bloodlines hopefully more games will uses that feature.

    Im just a little bit worried about the possibility of a subscription for psn that would suck so much, i understand that playing online will always be free but i hope those features we want like cross game chat will not be part of that that premium service, hopefully that dosent happen.

    It’s been a nice week, Jeff. Just started replaying Uncharted 2 today…again realizing how epic it is. Oh, and Happy Birthday PS3. I’m a little late but oh well. What’s in store for the week of Thanksgiving, Jeff?

    NOW THATS A GREAT BUNDLE! i would definitely get that if i didn’t already have a ps3, i dont have arkham asylum and i have yet to play the full version of infamous, i also didn’t have dark knight( till last week that is) what a terrific bundle. AA and DK(not the gorilla) are awesome! I hear infamous is too.

    I just got my PS3 Slim today… yay! but the Facebook integration doesn’t work why? on my brother’s account it does show up and he doesnt even have a facebook account, on mine it’s not even there.

    Jeff, when will the new boxart format for PS3 games be a STANDARD because games like MW2 and Borderland came out after 10/13 and they still use the old one and even though games like Battlefield: BC2 and 3D Game Dot Heroes have the new one, they they don’t have the PSN logo at the top right, what’s up w/ that, every game that come out should have the exact same boxart format from now on, PLEASE REPLY JEFF, THANKS!!!

    Been playing Bad Company 2 beta on and off all weekend and it’s freakin awesome. I love it so far but I do miss the control scheme of the BC1 (it was better), and I don’t like how you can’t have your knife out, but that’s a minor thing.

    The big thing is voice chat and it STILL doesn’t seem to be very good on PS3 (it was bad in BC1 and useless in BF1943), and I must say this… If it isn’t fixed during the beta or demo me and several of my friends WONT be buying it for PS3, we’ll be getting it for PC or 360 :-/

    Of course the mics not working wouldn’t be a problem if there was cross game voice chat.

    Loving the BFBC2 Beta so far, but can you hound the DICE guys to see if they are working on fixing the problems with the servers for the original Bad Company?

    I’ve been reading the bad company forums and so far there have been only the typical answers of “We are investigating” or “We are looking into it”.

    Hopefully GvD has some energy left after running all around the world these past couple of weeks to help out some of his loyalists.

    When are we going to hear something about Dead Rising 2? Isn’t it still due out in March? If so, WHY have we not heard ANYTHING in months? I’ve been quite patient for this one, even through all the L4D & L4D2 hype. (In my opinion L4D 1&2 cannot hold a candle to what Dead Rising was and will be with the second installment. I play L4D and I just get pissed off that I can’t use anything but guns. I just find myself constantly saying: “Look! A fire extinguisher! I can use that to smash a zombie’s… nope. nevermind. OOHH! A frying pan! Maybe I can… Nope. That one either. *sigh*” Then I just scream profanities at the development team for limiting what I can do in such a crippling way.)

    i would like to see the weekly PSN updates posted on tuesdays for now on. it just makes sense especially if Sony wants to take the PSP-Go and digital distribution seriously. plus it would make the PSN update on the same day XBLA is updated.

    Have you addressed the growing number of PS3s failing to read BluRay games and movies immediately after installing version 3.10… if this was the massive update you had planned… you can take it back… that way all of us affected (all models 40,60,80,120slim) can be able to play our games again… I camped out for my 60 ay launch and am a loyal Sony consumer… I have no animosity over this issue but if you aren’t going to admit fault please release a firmware 3.2 that coincidentally fixes the issue… that way we all win… Please and thank you.

    A read something about MW2 using cross-game invites. I tried it for myself, and it actually worked!

    So, how is it that Sony decides to tell us about “avatar support” and then doesn’t deliver on the feature for months, instead of telling us that one of the most requested features have been added? It boggles the mind! Boggles, I say!

    @ 47 Online play will be free and going to home will free , going to PSN will still be free . I still think ( and i don’t know if this will be true ) new features like in game chat, 3D gaming , video and game rental and others features you will paid to used . I have no problem paying for those features i just won’t be use for in game chat like i do on the 360 , i know some may have a problem paying but it’s all depend on price . 30 bucks a year ? you will have us hook 50 bucks a year ? you going to have to show alot but i will have no problem with that i can’t comment for the rest .
