Walk off your Turkey Dinner with Black Friday Shopping

170 0

I’m going to kick this off by introducing myself to all of you since I’m a relatively new addition to the PlayStation team. I’m Tim Bender the new head of sales at SCEA and I’m thrilled to be joining the company at such an exciting time and even more excited to be sharing with you some of the enticing deals we’ve got planned this Friday.

While recent sales momentum is proving that PS3 on its own is a deal many of you could not pass up, we’ve been working hard with our retail partners to offer incomparable incentives and value options this holiday. This Friday, across many of your favorite local retailers, you’ll be able to find the new 120GB PS3 system packaged with a selection of this season’s hottest games, and in some cases, the latest Blu-ray movie releases.

Keep in mind, the deals listed below are just the tip of the iceberg. Make sure to look in your Thursday papers to find other great deals from local favorites like Fry’s, Hastings Entertainment, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Game Crazy, hhgregg, BrandsMart, Meijer and Shopko.

Last year Jeff invited you to update the group on additional deals you found throughout the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. We invite you to do the same again this year; we’ll be leaving this post front and center through Saturday. If you find something good – share with the group!

I hope we’ve packed some good deals in that’ll make it worth leaving the confines of your home to brave the elements—and parking lots.

Happy shopping and Turkey day,

Tim Bender

I just picked that up earlier today. I buy all my system at Costco. I love the return policy there. I also did a price match at Walmart today. I got them to price match Radio Shack ad for controllers for $29.

  • Welcome to the blog :)

  • I think I would choose the Walmart one.

  • Amazing deals for PS3, but in the end result I chose the Best Buy PS3 bundle over the others and I must say that it was indeed worthed it.

  • Got the Walmart bundle because my FAT Ps3 YLOD… Why can’t sony make a fix where I can just swap my HDD and it works fine like microsoft. I lost ALL my 100 Gigs of files.

  • Gotta admit…Amazon got my money this year. They had some of those Lightning Deals on Brutal Legend, Dragon Age: Origins, SoulCalibur 4 and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance that I couldn’t turn down. All of em will be here on Tuesday. >.<

And yeah…that Walmart deal almost made me wish I needed a second PS3. O.O

  • New avatars?

  • AWSOME i hope my mom got me the one with LBP and god of war for christmas

  • My roommate got the Walmart edition of the slim line for our house christmas present. I can’t wait to be playing some very nice games to include MGS4, Assassin’s Creed, Eternal Sonata (that is my gift since I am a huge RPG fan), inFamous, Batman, and a couple of other games that he ordered from eBay. We are going to have a blast, but the best part is now that I’ve got the hardware, all I need to focus on is March 9th – Release of FF13 (hopefully)!

  • To all of you who bought a ps3 yesterday and are new to the community, WELCOME! I hope you have fun on the dark side. :)

  • LBP, and GoW!? interesing combo! :D

  • Not exactly PS3 related, but Target has select Blu Ray titles for 8.99 or 12.99.

  • PS3 and games and with a blue ray!

I got my phat(won’t trade it for a slim) 160 for 500 and no games. How much things change in a short time.

    Go Playstation go!

  • I think the best bundle was Wal-Mart’s. I got the Best Buy one, though I’m not complaining. :D

  • Looks like I am going to have to buy a new console…

  • i like the amozon bundle and the best buy bundle the games are really cool and with a Sony Bravia to go with it a a 1080p resolution

    that is AWSOME!

  • Hi Tim,I want to give you feedback on PS3 3.00+.
    1. The sparkles are nice & dynamic theme ability is good.
    2. Please allow the option to choose the “system start-up” I want.
    a. Original “Sony Computer Entertainment/ classical music”.
    b. New “PS3/ neo-classical music”.
    3. Give XMB font size options.
    4. Allow me to turn on/off XMB “blurring” effect.
    5. Allow me to have the XMB icons/words stay visible or fade.
    6. Allow me to turn on/off the “adticker” in top right corner.
    7. Allow me to turn Playstation store icons on/off.
    8. Please allow me to choose which “media boot-up” screen I want.
    a. Original “PLAYSTATION 3/ jingle” splash screen.
    b. New “black screen/ no jingle”.
    9. Please allow me to choose the “loading” icon I want.
    a. Original classic “droplet” “watermark”.
    b. New clock
The “What’s New” can be turned off in system settings? It’s mostly superficial, but user customization is good. Many PLAYSTATION 3 users would make use of these options.
Thanks for your hardwork, I know you’re trying to make PSN/XMB better. I know SCEA may not be responsible for the changes. SCEJ is probably pulling the strings. Please give this feedback to them too.Happy Holidays!

  • lol sounds good

  • Dear Tim Bender, i got my 80gig motorstorm bundle ps3 about 2 years ago, this year in may it broke on me bluray drive failure, i paid sony $158.67 to have it fixed and sent back to me and guess what it YLOD on me last week and i called you’r support line and guess what they told me. They said that since the 3 month warranty expired and that i will have to pay another $158.67. SO IF YOU DO THE MATH YOU WOULD SEE THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY YOU GUYS $317 THIS YEAR ALONE JUST FOR REPAIRS AND THATS MORE THAN THE MSRP FOR ONE OF YOUR GREAT BUNDLES UP TOP. NOW TELL ME IS THAT GOOD BUSSINES TO SCREW OVER A LOYAL CUSTOMER LIKE THAT OH AND BY THE WAY I PAID FIVE HUNDRED FREAKIN DOLLARS FOR THE CRAP BOX YOU SOLD ME. GOOD DAY
