Canadians! Visit the New PlayStation.ca

86 0

The team at Sony Computer Entertainment Canada has a small gift for all Canadian gamers! PlayStation.ca has undergone its first major redesign since it launched a few short years ago, relaunching this week with a new dynamic interface for easy site navigation. Visitors are now greeted with a large showcase marquee that provides instant access to videos and screen shots from nearly anywhere on the site. This gives users the ability to checkout the content they want to see, when they want to see it.

Also new are the related content blocks that give users access to similar items. Looking for info on the hot new PSPgo or finding out about the Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Contest (which is open to ALL residents of Canada, including Quebec) is now that much easier. We’ve also introduced a new series and collection of Developer Diary videos with a lot more unique content planned for the future.

PlayStation.ca is the destination for more information about exclusive Canadian promotions, contests, offers and events. Check out the site and let us know what you think. Have a safe and happy holiday. See you online.

  • 1st!
    Merry Christmas

  • Very cool site design. Any chance we’ll get a new blog design? The EU blog is nicer.

  • Thanks, i’m gonna check this out. Keep up the good work guys!

  • Is there something else u guys not sayin?? Video store for Xmas???tha would be cool.. Who care bout site .ca

  • Thanks a lot, guys! While I still do prefer this U.S. interface to the Canadian one, this is a huge improvement and it actually makes me want to visit my own country’s site on a more frequent basis. Merry Christmas!

  • We have exclusive Canadian promotions available to us Canadians? This is the first time I’m hearing this.

  • NA needs a new look really bad =/

  • Maybe I am just not finding it, but how do we log in to our PSN accounts via the .ca site?

Seems almost useless without that feature. I mean, the .ca site is totally cut off from the actual PS community, no forums, no profile, no nothing except ways to view more sony playstation products, which, hey, is fine, but umm, hello?

  • The latest news is last weeks store update?

Nice to know you’re still terrible at updating the site.

Contests are pointlessly burried. You only do like 2 a year, the least you can do is make them easier to find and not have them burried in the promotions page and have to read the small “type” field of every “event” listed.

THe vidoeos I’ve seen are worthless, they were all just Chris standing there while the developer spewed PR speak. Maybe if you had him asking questions submitted by Canadian PS fans I might care.

In closing, new coat of paint, same worthless site. Please start spending your time accomplishing something worthwile, like I dont know getting the video store done already.

  • Oh and Chris is still the biggest George Stroumboulopoulos ripoff of all time.

  • Hmmm. I will check it out. Though in all honesty, Playstation.com doesn’t serve much purpose as it is.

blog.us.playstation.com, boardsus.playstation.com and us.playstation.com/PSN/Store are the only destinations I visit regularly. Notice how all of those URLs have ‘us’ in them.

But, I will check it out!

  • Canada + Playstation = No Content

Hate to complain, but with the total lack of content available to Canadians, was this really that important? Why for instance are the digital comics on PSP available almost everywhere but Canada? What about movies?

    Tastes great, less filling.

  • CANADA FTW thnx playstation

  • I’m sure the Canadians will still find SOMETHING to complain about….lol

  • Well it’s about time! No more CA people running around our forums screaming about bad prices, that we know nothing about…….

YAY! Now please rebuild the US site too! It’s no longer in line with the new PS3 slim style, or the new logos! Fix it please!

  • I could care less about the .CA website since i never go on it. What we Canadians really want is the damn freaking Video Store just like the U.S. has!!!!! c’mon!

  • @Gunwing

How does a site redesign have anything to do with high prices, for which CAD are subject to regularly?

  • is a good start, but doens’t look very good on the ps3 browser…or if you have a monitor bigger than a 19″…like me who uses my 40″

@aggie_CEO you would complain too if it had been 2 years since video was introduced in the PSN and your country was one of the few that couldn’t access it

@Gurwing there aren’t any forums on the .ca site…so we shall just have to complain more on the North American forums just to piss you off

  • Nice to see the neighbours (that’s right, I spelled it with a “u”!) to the north aren’t being neglected, even though we’re a much smaller market. Thanks for the Canadian-specific update, guys :)

  • looking forward for the US Update.
is it only the blog? or is the forums going to update too ? (hope so!)

  • How ABOUT YOU GIVE US THE GDAM CANADIAN PSN VIDEO STORE SOMETIME THIS CENTURY.

  • WE NEED CANADIAN PSN VIDEO STORE!!! I’m tired having to dress and driving all the way to my local Blockbuster. I WANT IT NOW!!! BTW, i don’t like Netflix…

  • I thought there was an initiative to unify the PSN services across the different regions. The site is nice, but why waste the resources on it?

  • It amounts to a fresh coat of paint. I don’t really see substantial reason to visit it anymore regularly at the moment, which is to say, not at all. The old site seemed to be updated infrequently, and provided no information on any of the questions Canadians have including the whereabouts of the video or comics services.

Without a CAN focused blog or board, most Canadians will continue to frequent the US site for their information.

  • :) Bout time, ps.ca was so damn lacking. I rarely visited it cuz of that.

  • This is what you’ve been working on all this time?

    Epic FAIL.

Give us something that we actually care about. Video store, parity with release dates for ALL PSN content, contests we can actually participate it…you know, stuff you should have been doing years ago?

Get with the times. SCEC is easily the worst game management company in the world.

  • Holy [DELETED], thank you Sony! The redesign kick-[DELETED]!

  • It’s good that we get a fresh coat of paint, but psn for canada is still a friggin shack… when can we expect videos?

  • I’m a US resident, but I thought I’d come in here and congratulate the Canadian PS3 owners, thinking that everyone would appreciate the attention given to the Canadian site. There are some praises, but damn, look at all those complaints.

Come on guys, a bit of something is better than nothing. Anyway, Happy Holidays guys. Maybe this is just the start?

  • Playstation.CA is pretty useless, i’m afraid.
unless it keeps current all the time, which it does not.

you should just make a North America one.

  • Who cares about the website? When do we get video store/comic store access?

The only positive aspect of this site redesign is that maybe emails I send complaining about not having access to the video/comic store will go through without a server error. Maybe.

  • Now get us into the many contests that are US only such as the GOW3 ultimate fan and bring the video store to Canada then it will be perfect.

  • I would trade the new website design for, oh, I don’t know, a video store or digital comics book store. Even information on why we aren’t getting them would be better than a website…

  • USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA!!!
    GOD BLESS THE USA!!!

  • GOD BLESS AMERICA USA USA USA!!!

  • I agree with the comment about unifying a North American site. Simply have Playstation.com reflect all of NA.

It is just more work and money having to maintain two sites that will ultimately have similar content.

  • Lmao they made one after all huh. So now nothing gets posted there cause all the promotions goes to the U.S.

  • I can smell lots of stupid Americans in this thread.

  • So when is the PSN going to get a website that outclass XBL’s site?

  • greaaaaat *sarcasm*

  • PSN log in + PSN features on the .ca website would be nice. I never visit it because there’s nothing useful on it like the US version.

  • Seriously Kyle, why did you waste your time on this?

Seems to me that SCEC has very limited resources. Why else would it take you a year longer then the US to get PSN cards and pushing 18 months and still no video store.

Why did you use them on this when there are so many more important things you should be spending time on?

Your overall support of the Canadian region has been disgracefull and you’re wasting valuable bandwidth on fluff.

  • Well, it’s definitely better than the old PlayStation.ca. Hopefully next we’ll get some sort of a PS Blog Canada or at least a “Canadian” option on this blog that filters out all the PSN Video Store Updates, PSN Comic Service Updates and any promotion that isn’t available to Canadians.

Also, I don’t understand why all the PlayStation sites (US, CA, EU, JP, etc.) are all so different. Why not just use the same design and implement the same features for all of the sites? I know we’re supposed to stay on our own region’s site but when other regions have different features like forums, blogs, PSN website features, etc. we’re kind of forced to look at other region’s sites. So why not make all the sites the same and just change the content for that particular region? That way, I won’t have to come to US PlayStation.com to view the blog, forums and use the PSN features (trophy comparison, trophy cards, etc.) and plus I can still see all the promotions and events for my region on the same site.

Anyways, kudos for improving PS.ca but we definitely need some more features like there are on US PS.com and EU PS.com.

P.S. So now that that’s out of the way, you guys can work on getting us the video store! ;)

  • haha

contest is open for all of canada, including quebec…

    what does that tell you

  • Thats cool and all but how about the video store? or comics?

  • uh, where’s canada?!

  • EXTREMELY pretty (although the header could’ve been done with CSS to make it faster). Can we get something similar on the American site? :D

  • All of you guys complain about not having the VIDEO STORE up in your region, but in reality you guys arent missing much. The video store sucks, they have so many restriction and policies, its not worth buying from the store, maybe rent, but even than, its a hefty price for a limited digital version of the movie, with no subtitles and no multiple languages. Not worth the rental fee, we’re all better off with netflix, trust me when I say you guys arent missing much.

Now the comic Book store, there’s something you guys are missing out on, its awesome.
