Welcome back from the holidays, Zipper fans! As we mentioned before we went on break, today is the day that our 100% free and open MAG Beta program kicks off on the PlayStation Network!
Hopefully, you’ve taken advantage of the head start we provided a few weeks back and already downloaded all the files you need so you can just log in and start playing the game immediately. If you didn’t get a chance to grab the goods quite yet, however, or are just now learning about the program for the first time, that’s okay too – anyone can grab the MAG Beta and its files at any time between now and the end of the testing phase on January 10 at 11:59pm.
Here’s a three-step refresher course on what you’ll need to do to get the Beta:

1. Log on to the PlayStation Store, Select “View All By Title -> M Titles -> MAG” and download the MAG Beta file like you would any other freely-available PSN video or demo (298 MB)
2. Launch the MAG Beta program from your XMB to download a special patch that will restart MAG once the update has been received (another 37 MB)
3. After the reboot, the Beta will reconnect and download the actual game data so that you can play (1.8 GB – 2.3 GB depending on your region)
Remember, the MAG Beta is taking place worldwide – all you need to participate no matter where you live is a PlayStation 3 and an internet connection. Once you’ve logged on, get ready to enjoy two different game modes: 64-player sabotage and 256-player domination!
We hope you enjoy the Beta up until January 10, and we’ll see you again later this week in Vegas for our big MAG Goes Gold Community Event.
I agree with Insomnia999 about the lag issue. I ran behind cover several times and still died from a sniper shot to the head. not cool.
The sniper rifle is really jerky when scoped. Loosening this would help a lot.
Just played my first demolition match! I can’t believe how the framerate is so perfect with so much happening on screen!
My only complaint is that the bases you must hold are far to close together. If your team is attacking it’s nearly impossible to capture and hold each base before the entire enemy team floods into one base.
Alright well….i’m at the receiving updates screen…and it has taken 20 minutes just to get 6% downloaded…..how long does it take for the entire download??
It depends on your internet connection! Mine took around 15 minutes.
Couple of glitches at death, sometimes no release for a respawn, disconnect errors when leaving the game and stats not updating last 4 sessions kills stuck at 159 should be 202 deaths at 143 should be 164. All in all alot of fun, maps at 128 v 128 and 264 v 264 should be larger, too much happening in a small space I slept under a gun turrent for 3 years that was better than the stuff going on in those games, spread them out or get more terrain friendly so that all classes are useable. All buildings should have more access, all commercial building should have roof access. Little things but it would help, I enjoy the play.
The rocket launcher and armor have glitches.
The launcher doesn’t always kill medium armor people when it hits them. The armor also doesn’t change speed or defence.
i agree with 406 on the The rocket launcher it needs to do more damage
My connection was downloading about 100mb per hour so the download would take about 20 hours, which isnt too bad
but when it got to around 800mb it lost connection and i had to restart the download. I figured it wasnt worth overheating my ps3 so left it.
are we going to be able to keep the characters we have leveled up so far? IM AT 18 alREady and DOnt wAnt to LOse my SNipEr! =P
the beta is awesome i’m just dissapointed that the s.v.e.r SMG is almost equal to the ak 74u
I KEEP TRYING TO DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE BUT IT WONT WORK SOMEONE TELL ME WHY PLEASE HURRY!
Great game, but i think it needs a couple more game types, maybe one where all three clans battle for some valuable object or something like that.

Slant Six made SOCOM: Confrontation.
Overall the game is awsome with great gameplay, but all i think it really needs is a slightly strong connection.
i tried sniping, im actually pretty good at it. got to level 6 yesterday. now i cant connect to the server. ARGHH! i still wont buy this until it gets down to $50-40 though.
Barracks Stats Tab locked at 9:40:53 I have 22:37:09 logged, so all stats have been frozen from that point on. Still have 9:4 ; 9:2 ; 0:4 errors once in awhile but the server disconnects really piss everyone off during a session. That has to cease, as well as the one swipe knife kills … I’m allright with having to shoot a target with a few shots below the head, hell I’m ok with having to throw a coulpe of grenades to finish the job, but sweeping out a blade across the chest, back or other body part (outside the neck) and taking down that same armored opponent … comon man that’s just not right.
Fun game lots of good features, lots more to grow into but a good game worth the $50-$60 bucks for online only? … Ya know, it just might be.
is the server down today or what because its 9:35am where am at and it kept saying to try back at a later time i hope they expand the time to monday cuz of that…im level 46 im a mag addict raven all the way…And PLEASE DON”T BLEED OUT..ok you can BLEED IN but DON’T BLEED OUT.. im a certify company leader medic i’ll heal even if i had to give my life in the process.

It would be nice if they had a game that would give out points for not dying. Or penalize you for dying. Its like a mass rush to die. Then run back.
This game is WOW!!!! that’s all i have to say xD, but i have a doubt when you say that the beta will end at 11:59 pm is the official gmt time?

Hey, um, I wanna say all good things about your game! I love MAG! But Ive been getting booted off the server many times in the last two days. ‘Specially in Domination. There is also lots of lag in Domination.
So if our jobs (BETA TESTERS) is to tell you guys what’s rihgt and what’s wrong with the game, then I’m all up for it! Also the mic is still NOT working in the group mode. You have 17 days to launch the actual game Zipper. You have to fix it.
P.S. My gun stops shooting when I’m shooting someone face to face. Mostly against SVER. Guess who gets killed first?
I love the game its really good i have pretty much stop playing COD but there is something that can be a pain. The respawn time is alittle long, and it would be nice to be able to shot people instead of bleading out. The one thats really buggin me is that when u are in a room u invite people to come and play and then when the match is over u are sent back to find a room again so ur not staying with the same group all the time. and why isnt there any zoom on the sniper gun or is there some kinda button combo to get it to work. Overall I love the game and why don’t all first person shooter games come out with a beta first to try and be able to write stuff about the game.
What time does beta stop today?
I really enjoy the game. I’m still getting a weird glitch pretty often that also happened in the last beta. I’m assuming it’s what people are referring to as lag. I’ll be running or whatever and then the screen cuts away and I end up back where I was a few seconds ago. This happened a few times when I was parachuting, accept I was left without a parachute when the screen cut away and came back so I just fell out of the sky.
I also think it would be cool if there was a way to identify which teammates are medics with the revive perk when looking at the map. Perhaps a different color icon for them? Perhaps it wouldn’t be realistic but it would be cool.
Even though I love the gameplay, at this point the game seems a low on content for $60. 4 game modes with 3 maps per game mode seems light. I think you guys need to add some more game modes and maps (especially in Sabotage). I think it would be cool if you could somehow incorporate all 3 teams competing against each other in a new game mode.
I’ll reserve final judgment until the game is released, but as of now I’m planning to wait until the game goes on sale or pick up a used copy at a discount.
Oh yeah, more guns would also be good.
DeuceCam I bet there will be, because this is just the Beta so there will be a whole bunch of mroe stuff on the full game.

Man! I downloaded and installed and waited for the update to finish but had to go to work and now its the 10th and i dont get to spend any time playing the beta!!!!!
so i’ve floated across the room while dead and could still shoot(2 times now),started a game and ran around alone for 5 min???,counter at 0 and no spawn, in bunker and can’t get out, lag like crazy 1 in 10 games, and the beta is ending tonight LOL zipper get it right, don’t take the beta off till it’s good to go and ur along way off alot of people don’t even know about MAG i wonder what would happen if people actually knew about this game ur servers would be dead, maybe u guys should advertise a little and tell more media outlets that this type of game is on the PSN store for beta, so far i’ve seen zero media on this,outside of the PSN

I started downloading this 12 hrs ago and it still has 20% to go on the updates ” what a joke”
i know its down now but one last thing when im against a wall and fire’n at someone im hitting a wall thats not there im out enough to be shooting the target i shoud be hiting but im hittin a wall and giving myself away then getting smacked
That waw a great beta cant wait for it to caome out. but my only real gripes were that when you start reloading you cant melee a person right infront of you. also when your in a party when a match loads up some of your party will come and others would stay back inthe lobby. but other then that you have a great thing going. cant wait to see the finile product.
the game is awesome and i am really excited about the release but i want to know why the servers have been down over the past few days? i know they have been pretty glitchy and all but just wondering

Guys the beta is over. It ended the 10th, there is nothing wrong with the servers. BTW the MAG beta was awesome. Thanks Zipper, I already have my copy preordered.
The beta is not even visible right now in the playstation store, if you look under MAG or search for MAG beta all you find are the game videos and no beta download. :*( sad panda

Good game so far only experienced lag one during a game. pity the beta was only around for a short time.
seeing as my ps3 dies and i cant get any discs too load what so ever and sony we gladly ;et me pay them $200 to repair it!
Dude, I really want to play this beta but the server wont connect :O Hope its fixed soon…I really want to try it out!!!
Crap It wont be up thats why its not connecting :( It’s been finished. Game releases soon.
