Many of you have been waiting anxiously for news and details about the downloadable content we at Naughty Dog have been working on and we have been saying you’ll hear about it “soon.” Well, soon is finally here.
You may have gotten a glimpse of this initial DLC release as part of some news that made its rounds around the internet yesterday, but that wasn’t the full story.
So, what is going to be available on the PlayStation Network Store on January 28, you ask?
Thanks to our friends at Guerilla Games, Insomniac Games and Sucker Punch Productions, we’ve been able to a pull off something unique within the UNCHARTED 2 competitive multiplayer modes – our first DLC release is the UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack.
The PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack contains seven new skins featuring some key personalities from other major PlayStation first-party titles – Sev and a Helghast soldier from Killzone 2, Nathan Hale and a Chimera from Resistance 2, and Cole (both good and evil variants!) and Zeke from inFAMOUS.
The UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack will be available for purchase globally on the PlayStation Store on January 28, 2010, for $4.99 in the US. If you’re outside of the U.S., check your local Store or announcement for region specific pricing.
We have another release that’s appearing on the PSN Store on January 28 – the UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves single-player demo will be available to all, free of cost. Now you can tell your friends who haven’t played our game yet (slackers!) that they can easily check out UNCHARTED 2 for themselves by downloading the PSN demo starting next Thursday.
As you can see, a little bit of the information you may have spotted yesterday is different and that should let you know that not everything you may have read is accurate and up to date.
There is no doubt that we have some long-term plans for DLC and that we need to share those plans with a lot of people so we can all do our jobs properly. The fact of the matter is that game development, even for downloadable content, is a fluid and sometimes unpredictable process until you get closer to releasing whatever is being worked on. We don’t share our DLC plans publicly from the beginning because things can and will change over the course of development and we absolutely don’t want to create any unrealized expectations for millions of fans of our game.
It’s incredibly important to us at Naughty Dog that our fans have the best and most accurate information about anything we’re up to. There will be more info coming in the months ahead about our future DLC content once we have everything solidly locked down – and, trust me, there are a lot of very cool things in store for UNCHARTED 2.
I just read that you guys surpassed Uncharted 1 lifetime sales in just two months. It’s nice to see good work pay off. Congratulations, you Dogs certainly deserve it.
It would be nice to see Ratchet in there, or your very own Jak. A normal Jak for the good side, dark Jak on the other. Maybe Ratchet could come with different skins for his weapons?
Also, how come no Kratos love???
Well, I am very happy you guys are going to support this game through DLC, and IMO, there is a severe lack of skins. This is awesome. But I was hoping for uncharted 1 skins since I don’t play these other games(although I do plan to get infamous)and uncharted 1 had awesome skins. If you guys are needing suggestains for future skin packs, how about a naughty dog shirt for drake? That was my favorite skin in uncharted 1. Hope you consider it! And thanks for supporting this game, I hate buying a new game that is awesome but only gets 1 or 2 DLCs and then the devs forget about it. I look forward to future add on packs!

Although I am not a fan of any of those games(only Uncharted fan), I will still buy this DLC to support you guys!
But I have been wondering, if you guys will release the U1 skins like Gabriel Roman, Eddy Raja and Atoq Navarro? I am sure that would be the most appreciated additional content except for new maps of course.

Dude, seriously, if you’ve never heard of ANY of these characters then you’ve clearly been buying the wrong games. ;]
IMHO after Uncharted 3 both ND, and Insomniac should come to gather and make a Nintendo killing PS3 version of Smash brothers! Oh it would be so cool to finaly have a true PS3 exclusive fighting game! With charictors like Solid snake, Drake, Radic, and even Kratos, as well as other classics like Gex, Ratchet and Clank, Quark, that would be the best fighting kid/adult frendly game ever IMHO!
Very glad this has happened, its time that certain developers (not in all instances) began to separate the singleplayer experience from the multiplayer, something like Killzone 2, that plays very realistically online merits true to the gameworld maps and characters, something like U2 where you leap frantically up walls (something I love) doesn’t need imperatively to maintain its gameworld identity, in the online world, where no story is being told.
This is a massive step in the right direction ND, and with such swaying power in the industry, I have no doubt that this move will make waves of positive change to the thinking of many developers. Its a shame Snake isn’t 1st party, but what I would like to see is, Kratos, Jak/Dark Jak, Ratchet and Clank. I don’t imagine there’s reason you can’t get Snake in their other than he would be the odd one out? The next step for developers is to startin building maps for how amazing they could be to play in rather than replications of singleplayers areas. Imagine an Uncharted 2 map based on Helghan, I imagine this would be hugely difficult to obtain rights etc. but if you scratch their backs they may scratch yours, and the world will get well priced psn goodness! Thanks ND you guys are giving the Xbots a kick up the ass!

Great news, i’m really excited for this skins, but I got the game from the UK, and i’m from Portugal, if I buy them from my store they won’t work like the ones that came with the comic book. Could you guys do something about that ?? I have a UK account but I can’t ad funds. I really would like to have them. Thanks…

I think it would be cool, like the movement taunts we do. If we could have 4 or 5 random quote taunts we can do at anytime.
And maybe fix one thing that I know bugs a lot of people, maybe take out the quote that some of the characters do “I got the treasure” in plunder.

OMFG that is AWESOME!!!!! Those three developers are the best for PS3 and I truly hope they stay exclusive…hint hint Sony, give them what they want to keep exclusive!! That is a lot of very cool and unexpected content for a very cheap price! Day one for sure.
I cant wait to return back to ps3 so i can get uncharted 2 and download this update. Ps3 is way more stable than 360!
Ok, i gotta say, this is pretty cool, but I dont know what everyone is complaning about. they wanted dlc, and now theyre complaining about it being “foreign” to U2. Even if these skins have nothing to do with the game, theyre all awesome characters from amazing games, so quit complaining. We already got a free map, so cut it out. This will difinitly get my five bucks.
cant you just put in even more new maps + co-op maps to liven it up a bit and give me back the 24 ranks you took away from me online :( and allow us to download the cinema into hdd so i can show mates

@268 Yeah this pointless multiplayer is so lame, it’s only made me play the game for 16d12h28m, not to mention for playtime I’m just barely in the upper half of gamers…Oh man, extra playability…I hate it so much. I’d like to add I played singleplayer through 4 times.

I’m not a fan of what DLC has done to things we used to get for free. It’s not that bad here because UC2 came with a lot to begin with. However, I just can’t see myself paying $5 for something like skins. It’s bad enough paying for maps when PC gamers get that sort of thing for free.

You mean like the Amazon preorder bonus? lol… I still can’t believe they never corrected that situation with all the angry people.
You know i did’t really bealive this DLC when i first saw it but i think now that this is a good thing this is just what Uncharted 2 needs to shake things up a bit.
Do want: Sackboy,Biorr and Garl Vinland.
Also i was wondering is there any way that you can altar the multiplayer so that we can earn more then $50.00 and also altar it so that it is not somthing like $62.965.000 to get to leval 60.

Personally, I think this is awesome…would be nice to see this cross-game merging more often.
It’s just fun!
On another note, it would be even more fun if these newer characters had additional features accompanied with this DLC. Perhaps it can be added in the future, what do you think devs?
1. Additional weapons that spawn for the newer characters.
Eg… An electrical power-up for cole enabling his game related powers for a short while instead of a gun.
Or, a chimeran bulls eye etc… you get the idea.
2. Character audio upgrades. It would be nice to have some new comical additions to all characters, new and old.
The funny dialog is one of the great features of the Uncharted games. So, keep it coming.
Anyway, though I have a $#!t load of ideas, I’ll just divulge those for now to keep this as short as possible.
If you ever have the need for a new employee well versed/educated in computer technology, web design, graphic design, development…also highly capable of finding the best ideas..I am absolutely your man .
Think about it…but at least consider my suggestions listed above.

Will the new skins be Silent, like the skeletons, or will they have some kind of voice?
Excuse mr Anne but what is the problem with the servers I haven’t played in about a month now cuz y’all want fix the servers. I left post about this problem many times. Still not fixed. Here it is again in case y’all still don’t know: ok I got to lvl 50 my router got unplugged when I try to get back on it says error syncing player data. Now since I couldn’t get back on with my lvl 50 char I created a new ps3 account got to lvl 36 and decided to try and recreate the problem well it was successful. I unplugged my router now I get error syncing player data with both accounts and I reset my modem router released and renewed my ip I’ve tried everything on my end to fix it and I’m personally tired of trying so that’s the jest of it.
What about uc2 in 3d now that would kick some butt. What’s up naughty dog I’m talking bout some serious stuff here when can we expect it in 3d. I tell u what get the crew working on it now release it in 1yr and a half and I’ll guarantee u make triple what u made off of uc1 and uc2 put together

i was just wondering…will the voices of the skins be included? such as… will the chimera growl or the helgast have grunts when climbing things or getting shot?

If you ask me, you guys should have put out new Map packs instead of some stupid Characters skins. Oh well, guess I’ll have to wait again. P.S, bring out the Mega Man X Games to the PSN.

love the news about the new dlc just wish other companys would take a chance like you guys at naughty dog hope it all goes well for you guys i will be downloading it when it comes out . told some of my other clan members from both resistance and killzone about this when we played online today we have been together playing in the same clan for 2 1/2 years now and we all have the same games and we all love a change of pace from time to time
why two coles? i would thought that reapers would of been a reaper or something makes more sence then using the same guy twice

I’m mostly hyped for the Infamous ones (tho I think its odd to have 2 versions of Cole, instead of Cole, Zeke, and maybe a Reaper or the girl character.
I second the notion of possibly adding Ratchet, Jak, and Kratos one day, but BUT!!! If you will one day add Snake (and I don’t mean OLD Snake, how about we remember our favourite stealth hero in his PRIME!) I will absolutely freak out and be sending you love letters in the mail weekly, XD
Is each character still going to have personality comments, like when a grenade lands near them or they find a cool weapon? I love those!
Ty NaughtyDog for not only making a fantastic single player experience, but an online experience that is very accessable and enjoyable, and in fact the only game I’ve played online in YEARS, and only one I’ve probably clocked in this many hours into! This game is, atleast compared to other shooters, fairly noob-friendly, and the co op is particularly a pleasure.
